Worked example: a Wi-Fi QR code for a café table

A café wants guests to join its Wi-Fi by scanning a code on each table. The network is called Cafe Guest and uses WPA security.

  1. Choose the Wi-Fi content type and enter the network name, the password and the security type.

  2. The generator writes the text a phone’s camera reads from the code: WIFI:T:WPA;S:Cafe Guest;P:chai-and-toast;;

  3. It confirms what scanning will do, join the network Cafe Guest with WPA, WPA2 or WPA3 security, and shows no warning for these values.

  4. Because the code is static, a new password means printing a new code; the text inside cannot be edited after printing.

Questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. A static code holds its text inside the pattern and keeps working as long as that text is valid. If you may need to change where a code points, use the self-hosted redirect tool instead.

Which barcode does a retail product need?

Shops usually scan EAN-13 or UPC-A numbers issued to your brand by GS1. The barcode generator draws them at the correct size, but the number itself must come from GS1.

Are pictures from the AI image generator labelled?

Yes. Each picture is checked for safety and marked as made with AI, so it can be told apart from a photograph.

How does tracing work with the AR drawing tracer?

Your phone’s camera shows the paper with the chosen picture laid over it, so you can draw along its lines by hand while you watch the screen.
