1. The shoot folder

Choose the folder of the shoot, or drop it here

JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC photos are numbered for the proof sheet; RAW and .xmp files with the same name can be copied with them. The files stay where they are and are only read.

2. Proof sheet for the client (optional)

A PDF of numbered thumbnails — up to 2,000 photos of the shoot folder, in name order — for the client to choose from. They reply with the numbers.

3. The client’s selection

Proof sheet numbers count the photos of the folder in name order, as on the proof sheet made here.

About the Photo Selection Picker (proof-sheet collage and client picks)

After a shoot, the client sends their selection as a list — “1, 4, 7-12, 15”, or file names like DSC_4521 — usually in a WhatsApp message. Paste it here, choose the shoot folder, and the tool finds every pick, tells you which numbers are missing or listed twice, and, with a pass, copies the picked photos into a new folder (Chrome and Edge on a computer) or into a ZIP, ready for album design or editing. RAW and .xmp files with the same name come along if you like.

It also makes the numbered proof sheet the client chooses from: a PDF of up to 2,000 thumbnails with running numbers and file names, in the same order the numbers are matched in. Chat time stamps and names in pasted messages are ignored. The photos are only read on your device — nothing is uploaded or hosted.

    How to use it

    1. Select Choose the shoot folder (or drop the folder on the box). On phones and in Safari or Firefox you can choose the photos themselves instead.
    2. Optionally open Proof sheet for the client, give it a title and, with a pass, select Make the proof sheet PDF; send it to the client and ask for the numbers of the photos they want.
    3. Paste the client’s reply into Paste the selection. Check whether its numbers are proof sheet numbers or numbers in the file names (the tool suggests one), and whether RAW files should come along.
    4. Look at the Problems list: picks that were not found, numbers that match photos from two cameras, and picks listed twice. Correct the text if needed — the list updates as you type.
    5. With a pass, select Copy the picks to a folder and choose an empty folder, or Download the picks (ZIP); Copy file names gives a list to paste into a catalogue’s filter, and Report (CSV) keeps a record. Without a pass, the list shows its first picks and Preview the proof sheet shows the first page of the proof sheet, marked.

    Examples

A WhatsApp reply with proof numbers
    Input
    [05/10/26, 2:14:22 PM] Meera Sharma: final 4, 12, 15-18, 23
    also 12 and 40
    Result
    8 photos found, 1 listed twice (12): photos 4, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 23 and 40 of the proof sheet are copied in that order
File names from a gallery, with RAW files
    Input
DSC_4521, DSC_4522, DSC_4530-DSC_4533 with “Also take RAW and .xmp files” on
    Result
6 JPEGs and their 6 .CR3 files (12 files) copied; a name that is not in the folder is listed as not found
Two cameras, numbers from the file names
    Input
45 with photos IMG_0045.JPG (camera A) and DSC_0045.JPG (camera B) in the folder
    Result
“Several photos” — both are copied and shown, so you can check which one the client meant

    Common uses

    • Wedding and event photographers collecting the album selection from a client.
    • Studios sending a numbered proof sheet instead of asking guests to install an app.
    • Pulling the matching RAW files of picked JPEGs for editing.
    • Checking a long list of file names against a folder before handing photos over.

What the selection can look like

    • Numbers separated by commas, spaces, semicolons or new lines: 4, 12 15; 23.
    • Ranges with a dash, en dash or “to”: 15-18, 101 – 105, 57 to 60.
    • File names with or without extension: DSC_4521, IMG_0045.JPG, and name ranges such as DSC_4530-DSC_4533 or IMG_0045 to 0050.
    • Pasted chat messages: WhatsApp-style time stamps and sender names at the start of a line are skipped, and words without digits (“final”, “please”) are ignored. A copy name such as DSC_4521-2 is read as a file name, not a range.
    • Ranges that run backwards or cover more than 2,000 numbers, and numbers longer than six digits (dates, phone numbers), are listed under the box instead of being used.

    Proof numbers or file numbers

Proof sheet numbers count the photos (JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF) of the chosen folder in natural name order — DSC_2 before DSC_10, sub-folders by name — exactly as the proof sheet made here numbers them. Make the proof sheet from the same folder you match against, and do not add or remove photos in between.

Numbers in the file names use the last group of digits in each name: DSC_04521 is 4521. When two cameras give the same number, both photos are taken and the pick is marked “Several photos”.

    Copying safely

Copying into a folder streams each file straight from the shoot folder into the new folder, so even large jobs need little memory, and existing files are never overwritten (a second copy gets “(2)” in its name). A ZIP is built in the browser’s memory: it is split into files of up to 2 GB, and very large jobs are better copied to a folder. The original files are never changed or moved.

    Limitations

    • Copying into a folder needs the File System Access API (Chrome or Edge on a computer); other browsers download ZIP files, which need memory for the whole job.
    • Up to 20,000 files per folder and 2,000 photos per proof sheet. HEIC and RAW photos appear on the proof sheet only when the browser can show them; they keep their numbers either way.
    • Proof numbers depend on the folder’s contents: if photos were added, removed or renamed after the proof sheet was made, the numbers shift.
    • Nothing is saved between visits: paste the selection and choose the folder again next time.

    Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, Photo Selection Picker (proof-sheet collage and client picks) shows the counts of found, missing and repeated picks, the first list rows (up to 10; a single pick without its files) and page 1 of the proof sheet, watermarked. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded, copied or saved to your device. A Pro or Premium pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

Does the client need an app or an account?

No. Send the proof sheet PDF (or your own gallery) and ask for the numbers in a message. This page only reads the reply and your folder.

    Are my photos uploaded?

No. The folder is read by your browser on your device, and copies or ZIP files are made on your device. Nothing is uploaded or hosted.

What if the client wrote file numbers like 4521 instead of proof numbers?

Choose Numbers in the file names. The tool also suggests this itself when most numbers match the numbers in your file names.

Will the RAW files be copied too?

Yes when Also take RAW and .xmp files with the same name is ticked: CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF, RW2 and other RAW files and .xmp sidecars in the same folder as the picked photo.

Can I keep the client’s order?

Choose Number them in the client’s order: the copies are named 001_…, 002_… in the order of the selection, with a RAW file sharing its photo’s number.
