About the T-Shirt & Merch Mockup Generator

See your design on a t-shirt or a hoodie (front and back), a mug, a tote bag, a cap or a phone case before you print or list it. Choose a colour — up to 16 for each product, or any colour you like — place the design (centre, left chest, high, small or the full print area, or drag it), and the folds, shadows and highlights of the product bend and shade the print the way fabric does. On a mug or a cap the print wraps round the curve.

Use a picture (a PNG with a transparent background works best) or just type words in one of nine fonts (or your device’s own font, for any script). Download a PNG or JPG at a ready size from 1,000 to 4,000 pixels — square, 4:5 or 3:2 — or a size you type (200 to 4,096 pixels a side), or make a set: one design on several products, colours and sides in one ZIP. You can also put the design on your own photo of a blank product. The products are drawings made for this tool, the pictures carry no watermark, and everything happens in your browser: nothing is uploaded.

      How to use it

      1. Under Your design, choose your design (a PNG, JPG, WebP or iPhone HEIC picture), or switch to Words and type them. For a t-shirt or a hoodie you can add a different back design.
      2. Pick a Product and a Colour, and Front or Back above the preview.
      3. Under Placement, choose a preset or set the size and position (or drag the design on the preview), and how strong the folds and shading are.
      4. Under Download, choose the size, PNG or JPG and the background (light grey, white, transparent or a colour), then Download, Copy image or Share.
      5. For several pictures at once, tick products, colours and sides under Make a set and download the ZIP.

      Common uses

      • Product pictures for print-on-demand and merch listings on your shop or a marketplace.
      • Showing a client or a team how a logo looks on uniforms, caps, mugs and bags before ordering.
      • Previews for school, college, club and event t-shirts in the colours on offer.
      • Social posts and ads for a new design.

      Sizes for shops and marketplaces

      • Shopify says that for square product images “a size of 2048 x 2048 px usually displays best”, that product images can be up to 5000 × 5000 px (25 megapixels) and that each file must be smaller than 20 MB (Shopify Help Center: product media types). The first size here is 2048 × 2048.
      • Other marketplaces set their own sizes and backgrounds and change them from time to time: check the seller help of yours and choose Type a size… to enter it. If yours asks for a plain white background, choose White.
      • PNG keeps a transparent background and the sharpest edges; JPG files are several times smaller. The page shows the size of each file you download.

      How the mockups are made

      • Each product is a drawing made for this tool from curves and shading — seams, collars, cuffs, a hood with drawstrings, a kangaroo pocket, a mug handle, cap panels and a stitched visor, a camera on the phone case — not a photo, and not copied from any mockup site.
      • Your design is placed in the product’s print area and clipped to it, then displaced along the folds and multiplied with the shadows; highlights are added on top and the weave of the fabric shows through. The Folds and shading slider sets how strong all of this is; 0 lays the design flat.
      • On the mug the design is unrolled round the cylinder, so it narrows towards the sides and curves with the rim; on the cap it curves round the front panel.
      • Your photo: set the print area over the product with the sliders (turn it to match the fabric). Multiply suits white and light fabric — the photo’s folds and texture show through the print; On top, with shading suits dark fabric. Automatic chooses by how bright the print area is.

      Getting a sharp, honest mockup

      • Use a design picture at least as large as it appears in the download: the page warns you when it is enlarged more than 1.5× and may look soft.
      • A mockup is a picture for your listing, not a print file: send the printer your original design file.
      • Colours on screen and in print differ, and every fabric takes ink differently: use the mockup to show the idea and order a sample before a large run.

      Limitations

      • The products are illustrations with realistic shading, not photographs; use Your photo for a photographic mockup.
      • One design per picture (a separate back design for t-shirts and hoodies); sets of up to 48 pictures.
      • Background removal is not built in: use Remove Background first if your design is on a solid colour.
      • SVG designs are not accepted: export a PNG of the design first.
      • Your settings are remembered in this browser; your pictures and words are not stored.

      Privacy

Your designs and photos are opened and drawn in your browser and never uploaded. Only your settings (product, colours, size) are kept in this browser.

      Frequently asked questions

      Are these real photos?

No. The products are drawings made for this tool, with folds, shadows, highlights and fabric texture, so they look natural without anyone else’s photos. For a photographic mockup, choose Your photo and use a photo you took of a blank product.

Can I use the mockups commercially?

Yes. The products are original drawings made for this tool and the pictures carry no watermark; under the terms you may use what you make here for personal and commercial purposes. You need the right to use the design you put on them.

How do I make the same design in many colours?

Under Make a set, tick the products, colours and sides you want and choose Download the set. Each product gets the colours it is made in, and you get one ZIP with a picture for each.

Why does my design look narrower at the edges on the mug?

Because it wraps round the mug, as a printed mug does: the middle faces you and the sides turn away. Make the design smaller if its edges matter.

Can I get a transparent background?

Yes: choose Transparent and download a PNG. The soft shadow stays semi-transparent, so the product sits naturally on any colour. JPG has no transparency and puts it on white.
