Instagram Unfollowers Checker (No Login)
From Instagram’s own export: who doesn’t follow back, and who unfollowed you.
How to get your Instagram export
- In the Instagram app or on instagram.com, open Settings → Accounts Center (in some places now Meta Account) → Your information and permissions → Export your information (formerly “Download your information”).
- Choose Create export, pick your Instagram profile, then Export to device.
- Customise the information: Followers and following (under Connections) is all you need, which keeps the file small. Set the date range to All time — a shorter range leaves out older followers. Format: JSON or HTML; both work.
- Start the export. Instagram notifies you when it is ready; download the ZIP file within 4 days and add it here as it is.
Steps from the Instagram Help Centre; menu names change from time to time. To see who unfollowed you, keep this export and compare it with the next one.

About the Instagram Unfollowers Checker (No Login)
Find out who doesn’t follow you back, who you don’t follow back and who your mutual followers are — from the copy of your data that Instagram itself gives you. There is no password to type, no app to install and no connection to Instagram: you add the ZIP file from Instagram’s Export your information (formerly Download your information) and the lists are worked out in your browser.
Add an older export as well and you also see who unfollowed you and who started following you in between. Every list can be searched, sorted by date and downloaded as CSV. The tool reads both JSON and HTML exports, in the current layout and the older ones.
How to use it
- In Instagram, go to Accounts Center (or Meta Account) → Your information and permissions → Export your information → Create export, choose your profile and Export to device.
- Choose Followers and following, set the date range to All time, pick JSON or HTML, and start the export. Download the ZIP when Instagram says it is ready.
- Drop the ZIP file into Your export. You can also add the files followers_1 (and followers_2…) and following from its followers_and_following folder.
- To see who unfollowed you, add an earlier export under An older export.
- Pick a list, search or sort it, open profiles, or copy the usernames or download the list as CSV.
Examples
The ZIP file from Instagram, of any size
Only followers_1, followers_2… and following (.json or .html) from the connections → followers_and_following folder, plus pending follow requests and recently unfollowed accounts if they are there
Photos, messages and everything else in the archive are skipped, so even a multi-gigabyte export opens quickly.
An export from January and one from October
Unfollowed you · New followers · You unfollowed · You started following
Common uses
- Cleaning up the accounts you follow that don’t follow back.
- Checking who unfollowed you since your last export — without giving an app your password.
- Finding followers you don’t follow back yet.
- Keeping a dated CSV record of your followers.
Why use your export instead of an app
Many “unfollowers” apps ask you to log in with your Instagram password or to install something that reads your account. This tool needs neither: it never sees your password and never contacts Instagram. It only reads the file Instagram gives you in Export your information, and the reading happens on your device — nothing is uploaded.
Which files are read
- JSON: followers_1.json (followers_2.json and so on for large accounts) and following.json, in the connections → followers_and_following folder. Newer following.json files keep the username in a title field with links like instagram.com/_u/name; older ones in a value field — both are read.
- HTML: the same files ending in .html, with one profile link per account and the date it was added.
- Older exports: the followers_and_following folder at the top of the archive, and the single connections.json file of the earliest exports.
Only these files are unpacked; the dates come from the export too.
Seeing who unfollowed you
An export is a snapshot. Keep one now and compare it with the next: anyone in the older followers list but not in the new one has unfollowed you — or deactivated or deleted their account, blocked you, or changed their username (a new username shows up under New followers). Instagram’s own recently unfollowed list in the export covers the accounts you unfollowed, not the other way round.
Limitations
- The lists are as of the moment the export was made; anything after that is not included.
- Choose All time when you export: with a shorter date range, older follows are missing and those accounts look as if they don’t follow back.
- If Instagram split your export into several ZIP files, add all of them (or at least the one with the followers_and_following folder).
- Dates printed in HTML exports in languages other than English are shown as they are and sorted last.
- Instagram can change the layout of its exports. The tool reads every layout seen so far; if yours is not recognised, the message says which file is missing.
Privacy
Your export is read in your browser and never uploaded, stored or sent to Instagram or anyone else. Profile links open instagram.com only when you click them.
Frequently asked questions
Is this safe for my account?
Yes — it never logs in to Instagram and never asks for your password. It only reads the export file Instagram gives you, on your own device.
How do I see who unfollowed me?
Instagram does not list who unfollowed you, so you need two exports: add the newer one under Your export and an older one under An older export. The Unfollowed you list shows followers in the older export who are not in the newer one.
Why does someone appear in “Don’t follow you back” although they follow me?
Usually because the export was made with a date range other than All time, so their follow is not in it; or they followed you after the export was made; or they changed their username. Make a new export with All time to check.
Should I choose JSON or HTML?
Either works. JSON is smaller and has exact timestamps; HTML is easier to open yourself.
Will the people on these lists know?
No. Nothing is sent anywhere — the lists are worked out from your own file in your browser.
My ZIP is several gigabytes. Will it work?
Yes. Only the small follower files are read from it; the photos and videos are skipped. Exporting just “Followers and following” makes a much smaller file, though.
