About the Print-on-Demand Product Profit Analyzer
Find out what one sale of a print-on-demand product really leaves you. Enter the provider’s base cost and shipping (Printful, Printify, Gelato, Qikink, Printrove or any other), your price, the shipping you charge and any discount, then pick where it sells: Etsy (by your bank’s country), Shopify, Amazon.com, eBay, TikTok Shop or your own website with Razorpay, each with its published fees filled in. The calculator takes off the commission, payment processing, fixed and listing fees, the plan’s share per order, VAT or GST on the fees, your own VAT, advertising (an amount, ACoS, ROAS or cost per click) and refunds, and shows the profit per sale, the margin, the break-even price, the price for your target margin and the most you can spend on ads.
Compare the same product on every channel in your currency, then open your whole catalogue: a Shopify product export (it carries Cost per item), an Etsy listings download or this tool’s template, as CSV or Excel, up to 50,000 products, read on your device. Each product gets its profit, margin and break-even price, with the ones that lose money first.
Without a pass, the free preview shows the profit per sale in full, with the order value, the rules that apply and the first rows of each table; the other figures, the full tables and the CSV, spreadsheet and PDF need a Pro pass.
How to use it
- Choose your currency and the channel you sell on; its published fees fill in, and every one can be changed.
- Enter the base cost and shipping your print-on-demand provider charges, your selling price, the shipping you charge and any average discount.
- Add advertising (ad spend per order, ACoS, ROAS or cost per click and conversion rate), the refund rate, your orders a month and a target margin.
- Read the profit per sale, the breakdown and the same product on every channel. With a pass, or after unlocking this result, copy the summary or download the PDF report and the tables.
- For many products, drop a CSV or Excel export (Shopify’s product export, an Etsy listings download or the template below) and check the columns it found. The catalogue’s CSV, spreadsheet and PDF downloads work with a pass.
Examples
Etsy fees: transaction 6.5% $1.95 + processing 3% + $0.25 = $1.15 + listing $0.20 = $3.30 Profit $30.00 − $3.30 − $16.44 = $10.26 a sale (34.2% margin)
Referral fee 10% (price above $15 up to $20) $2.00 + plan $39.99 ÷ 100 = $0.40 At a base cost of $13.25 + $4.75 shipping: −$0.41 a sale
At $20.01, a cent above $20, the referral fee is 17% of the whole price: $3.40.
GST in the price ₹28.52 · Razorpay 2% ₹11.98 + 18% GST ₹2.16 Profit ₹570.48 − ₹14.14 − ₹304.00 = ₹252.34 a sale
How the profit is worked out
- Order value = your price less the discount, plus the shipping you charge.
- Channel fees = the commission or transaction fee on the order (Amazon: by the band the total price falls in, at least $0.30; eBay: on the total with sales tax), payment processing on what the buyer pays plus its fixed fee, a fee per order, the listing fee, other fees such as Etsy’s Regulatory Operating fee, the plan a month divided by your orders a month, and the VAT or GST the channel adds to its fees unless you reclaim it.
- Your VAT or GST in the price = order value × rate ÷ (100 + rate), when you are registered and owe it.
- Advertising per order = your ad spend per order, or ACoS × the order value (Amazon Ads defines ACoS as ad spend ÷ ad revenue × 100, and ROAS as its inverse), or cost per click ÷ conversion rate, times the share of your orders that come from ads.
- Refunds: a refunded print-on-demand order pays the buyer back while the print, the shipping and the ads are spent; the channel gives back only the share of its fees you enter.
- Profit per sale = order value − your VAT − channel fees − base cost − provider shipping and tax − other costs − advertising − refunds; margin = profit ÷ (order value − your VAT).
Where the channel fees come from
Etsy: the Fees & Payments Policy and the Etsy Payments Policy (6.5% transaction fee on the item, shipping and gift wrap, processing by your bank account’s country, the 0.20 USD listing fee) and the VAT on seller fees help page. Shopify: its pricing page for your country (Basic plan, Shopify Payments online card rate). Amazon.com: Selling on Amazon fees (Clothing & Accessories 5% at $15 or less, 10% to $20, 17% above; Home & Kitchen 15%; Professional plan $39.99 a month or $0.99 an item). eBay: Selling fees. India: Razorpay pricing (2% a payment, 18% GST on the fee). ACoS and ROAS: Amazon Ads. Your own statements win when they differ from the fees filled in.
Your catalogue
Drop a Shopify product export (Title, URL handle or Handle, Option values, SKU, Price or Variant Price and Cost per item; variant rows take their product’s title, image rows are skipped), an Etsy listings download (TITLE, PRICE, SKU; it has no costs, so set a base cost for rows without one) or the template below (product, variant, SKU, selling price, base cost, provider shipping, shipping charged, orders a month, channel, ad spend per order, refund rate). Amounts may be written as exports write them: ₹1,24,999, Rs. 1,299, $12.50, €12,50, (12.50) for a negative; shares as 4% or 0.04. A row may name its channel (Etsy, Shopify, Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, own website); the others use the channel above. The file is read on your device, in the background, up to 50,000 rows.
Limitations
- An estimate from the fees you see and enter, not financial or tax advice: your channel’s statements show what you are actually paid, and fees change.
- One item per order; offers that bundle several items share fixed fees between them, which this does not split.
- Fees that depend on things outside the order (Etsy’s Offsite Ads threshold, premium or international card rates, currency conversion) are yours to add: Offsite Ads and creator commissions fit under advertising as ACoS.
- Income tax on your profit, payout transfer fees and withholding taxes are not included.
- MySmartCoPilot is not affiliated with Etsy, Shopify, Amazon, eBay, TikTok, Razorpay or any print-on-demand provider; the names say whose fees are filled in.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Print-on-Demand Product Profit Analyzer shows the profit per sale in full, with the order value, the rules that apply and the first rows of each table (up to 3), your catalogue’s too; the rest is hidden. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
How much profit is there in a print-on-demand T-shirt?
Take the price and shipping the buyer pays, then the channel’s fees, the provider’s base cost and shipping, your ads and refunds. A $25.00 tee with $5.00 shipping on Etsy (US bank) pays $3.30 in Etsy fees; with a base cost of $11.69 and $4.75 provider shipping it leaves $10.26 before ads and refunds.
What price do I need to break even?
The break-even price is the lowest item price, to the cent, at which a sale stops losing money with everything else as entered. The calculator searches it for your channel, including where a fee band changes, such as Amazon’s clothing fee rising from 10% to 17% above $20.
How do I count ads with ACoS or ROAS?
Amazon Ads defines ACoS as ad spend ÷ ad revenue × 100 and ROAS as ad revenue ÷ ad spend. Enter either one and the share of your orders that come from ads; the calculator turns it into ad spend per order. Etsy’s Offsite Ads (15% or 12% of an order that came from one) work the same way.
Which files can I analyse in the catalogue?
A Shopify product export (it includes Cost per item), an Etsy listings download, or any CSV or Excel file with a price column: you choose which column is the price, the base cost and the rest. Up to 50,000 rows, read on your device; nothing is uploaded.
Do I need a pass?
To see the margin, break-even and target prices, the full tables and your whole catalogue, and to download or copy them, yes: a Pro pass unlocks every Pro tool. Without a pass you see a free preview of your own result: the profit per sale in full, with the order value, the rules that apply and the first rows of each table.
