About the Amazon FBA Reimbursement Finder
Amazon pays back FBA sellers for units it loses or damages, for refunds whose item never comes back, and for fees charged on a wrong size or weight — much of it on its own, but not always, and only within set windows. This finder reads the reports you already download from Seller Central and lists the cases it can see: units lost or damaged in a fulfilment centre that were neither found nor reimbursed, refunds whose return never arrived, returns damaged by Amazon or its carrier, shipments received short, removals that came back short or damaged, and fulfilment fees that jumped (handed over from the Amazon Seller Profit Analyzer).
Each case comes with the units, an estimated value, the window to file it — open now, not open yet, or past it — the rows of your reports it rests on, where in Seller Central it is filed and a claim text to paste. Units Amazon already reimbursed, found or got back are left out, so nothing is claimed twice.
Without a pass the result is a free preview: the count of every kind of case and the first cases with their deadlines and evidence show, and the amounts, claim texts and the CSV files unlock with a Premium pass. Your reports are read in your browser and never uploaded; the finder never signs in to Seller Central and never files anything for you.
How to use it
- In Seller Central, download the Inventory Ledger (detailed view) and the Reimbursements report for the same months, and if you can the FBA customer returns report and the Date Range transaction report (or your settlement files).
- Drop them in, all together or one by one (CSV, tab-separated text, Excel or ZIP). Each file is recognised by its headings; if one is not, choose the report it is and its columns.
- Add what you know yourself if you want those checks too: a sheet of the units you shipped to Amazon, your own count of what each removal brought back, and your landed cost per SKU for the estimates.
- Choose the store (amazon.com or Amazon Europe) for its claim windows, and the day to check them against (today to start with).
- Read the cases, open ones first and the deadline that comes soonest at the top, and file each one where the case says, pasting its claim text.
- The case list and evidence CSV files and the claim texts unlock with a Premium pass; without one the result is a free preview. The template sheets download at any time.
Examples
Inventory Ledger: 16 units misplaced (reason M), 5 reconciled, 11 still unreconciled; your cost $8.00 a unit
11 units, about $88.00, open for 60 days from the day the ledger shows them. Filed in the Inventory Defect and Reimbursement portal, or with the lost-item claim tool and the FNSKU.
A $24.99 refund, no return in the FBA customer returns report and no reimbursement for the order
Open from 60 to 120 days after the refund (amazon.com); in Amazon Europe from 45 days after it. The claim text names the order ID.
You sent 30 units; the ledger shows 24 received and 2 already reimbursed
4 units to claim, open for 9 months after the shipment was delivered (6 months in Amazon Europe), from the shipment’s Contents tab once it shows “Eligible for investigation”.
Common uses
- A monthly check of the Inventory Ledger against what Amazon has reimbursed, before the 60-day window closes.
- Finding refunds whose items never came back, in the weeks when the claim is open.
- Checking a large shipment or a removal that came back short, with the evidence ready to paste.
- Doing the reconciliation yourself instead of paying a share of every reimbursement to an audit service.
What each report adds
- The Inventory Ledger (detailed view, with its reconciled and unreconciled quantities) shows units lost, damaged and found in Amazon’s warehouses, and what each shipment received.
- The Reimbursements report shows what Amazon has already paid, in cash or in units, so those are left out.
- The Date Range transaction report, or the settlement files, show every refund; the FBA customer returns report shows which refunded units came back, and in what state.
- The removal shipment report, with your own count of what arrived, shows removals that came back short or damaged.
- Your landed cost per SKU gives the estimate of each case; without it the average Amazon paid per unit before is used, or the refund for a return case.
The claim windows
They come from Amazon’s FBA inventory reimbursement policy and its pages for shipments to Amazon, the warehouse, customer returns, removals and fees:
- lost or damaged in a fulfilment centre: within 60 days of the day it is reported in the Inventory Ledger;
- customer returns: from 60 to 120 days after the refund on amazon.com; in Amazon Europe from 45 days after it (European page);
- shipments to Amazon: within 9 months of delivery to the fulfilment centre on amazon.com, 6 months in Amazon Europe (European page);
- removals lost in transit: from 15 days after the last tracking movement to 75 days after the removal shipment was created; damaged in transit: within 60 days of delivery;
- fees charged on a wrong weight or size: within 90 days of the charge.
Amazon changes these pages from time to time: the store setting shows the windows used, and each one can be changed.
How double claims are avoided
- A ledger event with reconciled and unreconciled quantities is taken as Amazon gives it: only the unreconciled units count, less any reimbursement paid after the ledger’s last day.
- Without those columns, units found later in the same FNSKU and reimbursements paid after the event are taken off, oldest event first.
- A refund counts only for the units that neither came back nor were reimbursed for that order.
- The same row in two files (downloads of overlapping dates) is counted once.
Fee jumps from the profit analyzer
The Amazon Seller Profit Analyzer finds SKUs whose fulfilment fee per unit rose and stayed up — often a new measurement of the product — and hands them over here as remeasurement cases with the extra paid. Check first that the rise is not a new rate card, the holiday peak season or a different price band, then ask Amazon to measure the item again.
Limitations
- MySmartCoPilot is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon.
- The finder lists possible claims from your reports; Amazon decides each one, and pays by its own estimate of the replacement value, which can differ from the estimate here.
- Amazon reimburses many lost and damaged units on its own, and its records may change after you download a report: check a case in Seller Central before filing it.
- Claims for shipments, returns and removals use the reports’ dates; where a report gives none (your own sheets), add them for the windows to be exact.
- Seller-fulfilled orders, SAFE-T claims and A-to-z claims are not covered.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Amazon FBA Reimbursement Finder shows the count of every kind of case and the first cases (up to 10) with their units, deadlines and evidence, with the amounts and claim texts hidden. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Which reports do I need?
The Inventory Ledger (detailed view) and the Reimbursements report are the core: together they show lost and damaged units that have not been paid back. Add the Date Range transaction report (or settlement files) and the FBA customer returns report for returns; a sheet of what you shipped for shipments received short; your own removal count for removals.
Does it file the claims for me?
No. It never signs in to Seller Central. Each case says where it is filed and gives a claim text with its evidence to paste, so you stay in control of what is sent.
Why is a case marked “Not open yet”?
Some claims can only be made after a waiting time: a refund on amazon.com is claimed from 60 days after it (the customer’s time to return the item), and a removal lost in transit from 15 days after its last tracking movement. The case shows the day it opens.
How is the value estimated?
From your landed cost per unit when you add it; otherwise from the average Amazon paid per unit for the same SKU before, or the refund for a return. Amazon sets the actual amount.
Does it work for Amazon Europe and the UK?
Yes: choose Amazon Europe for its windows (45 days after a refund, 6 months for shipments). Headings in other languages are matched where they are known; for any others, choose the columns once.
