About the TikTok Shop Seller Fee & Profit Calculator
A TikTok Shop order is shared several ways: TikTok takes a referral (commission) fee, a creator who brought the sale takes their affiliate commission, discounts may be funded by you or by TikTok, and you still pay for the item, shipping, packaging, ads and the orders that come back. This calculator works out the payout and the profit on one order, the break-even price, the price for a target margin, and — before you open an affiliate plan — what each creator-commission level does to your margin and the highest commission the order can carry.
Fee presets are shown only for the United States and the United Kingdom, from TikTok Shop Academy’s fee pages, with a preset version. Anywhere else you type the rates from Seller Center, so no rate is shown that was not checked.
How to use it
- Choose your shop country and the item’s category — or My own rate when Seller Center shows a new-seller or promotion rate — or Another country and type your referral rate and any payment fee from Seller Center.
- Enter the listing price, your discount, TikTok’s discount (platform-funded, paid back to you) and the shipping the customer pays.
- Enter the creator commission you offer, or 0 for your own sales.
- Add your costs — item, packaging, the shipping you pay, ads per order — and under Returns and taxes the share of orders that come back and what a return costs you.
- Read the profit, the payout and each fee; the commission table shows the margin at every creator commission. Copy the summary or download a CSV.

Referral and commission fees
- United States: the referral fee is the rate × (customer payment + platform discount − tax). Most categories pay 6%; five fine-jewelry sub-categories (diamond, gold, jade, platinum and carat gold, ruby, sapphire and emerald) and Pre-Owned pay 5%; Collectibles and Pre-Owned pay 3% on any part of a sale over $10,000 (referral fees by category). Sellers registered in Texas or West Virginia also pay sales tax on the fee.
- United Kingdom: the commission is 9%, VAT included, of net sales plus customer-paid shipping plus the platform discount; most electronics, computers, household appliances and some beauty devices pay 5% (Platform Commission Fee).
New-seller and promotion periods can lower these rates for a while: type the rate your Seller Center shows if yours differs.
Discounts: who pays
A discount you fund lowers your revenue and the fee base. A platform discount is paid by TikTok: the customer pays less, TikTok pays you the difference, and the referral fee is still charged on the full amount. The creator commission is a share of the price after both discounts: commission = rate × (price − seller discount − platform discount).
Returns and refunds
Returns are a provision on the kept orders: with 8% of orders coming back, every kept order carries 8 ÷ 92 of a return. In the US, TikTok refunds the referral fee on a refund less a refund administration fee of 20% of that fee, at most $5 per SKU, so the calculator adds it to each return’s cost (referral fee updates). In the UK the commission on a returned order is refunded in full.
How much commission can a creator take?
Profit falls by the commission rate times the price after discounts, so the highest commission is
highest commission = (profit with no commission − the profit your margin needs) ÷ (price − your discount − TikTok’s discount)
In the US example, the order makes $9.83 with no commission on a $25.00 commission base: 39.32% breaks even and 17.72% keeps a 20% margin. The table shows profit and margin at each commission level, and the levels that lose money are greyed.
Limitations
- One item per order; multi-item orders are charged per item.
- Shipping fees, Fulfilled by TikTok fees, campaign service fees and ad costs depend on your settings: enter what you pay.
- Tax TikTok collects from customers is left out of everything, as it is of the referral fee; income tax on your profit is not worked out.

A referral fee of 6% for most categories (5% for some jewelry and Pre-Owned items) of the price after your discount plus shipping, before tax. On a $27 order that is $1.62. Creator commission comes on top when an affiliate brought the sale.
