About the Etsy Fee Calculator: Fees, Profit & Price

Etsy takes several fees from each order, and two of them depend on where your bank account is. Pick your country and this calculator fills in Etsy’s published rates — the 0.20 USD listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee on the item, shipping and gift wrap, payment processing at your country’s rate, the Regulatory Operating fee where Etsy charges one — then adds Offsite Ads, Share & Save, currency conversion and the VAT or GST on Etsy’s fees. It shows the payout, your profit after materials, labour, packaging and postage, and the price you need for a target profit, margin or payout.

The rates are transcribed from Etsy’s Fees & Payments Policy, Etsy Payments Policy and help pages, carry a preset version, and every one can be changed. Prices can be in any currency: the fixed fees Etsy sets in US dollars are converted at a rate you can see and edit.

How to use it

  1. Choose the country of your bank account and the currency your prices are in. The processing rate, the fixed fee and any Regulatory Operating fee for that country fill in.
  2. Enter the item price, the shipping you charge and any gift wrap charge. In Australia, Canada and New Zealand, tick Order from abroad for the higher international processing rate.
  3. If the order came from an Offsite ad, pick 15% or 12%; tick Share & Save if the buyer came through your own shop link; add your Etsy Ads spend per order.
  4. Check Taxes: the VAT or GST Etsy adds to its fees in your country (0 once you have given Etsy a VAT ID where that stops it), your own VAT if you are registered, and any tax Etsy collects on top from the buyer.
  5. Enter your costs and a target, then read the profit, the payout, every fee line and the prices for each target. Copy the summary or download a CSV.

Examples

US shop: a 25.00 USD item with 5.00 shipping
Result
Listing 0.20 + transaction 1.95 + processing 1.15 (3% + 0.25) = 3.30 in fees
Payout 26.70 · profit 15.40 after 11.30 of costs
UK shop: £20.00 + £3.50 postage, 20% VAT on fees, 1 USD = £0.75
Result
Listing £0.15 + transaction £1.53 + processing £1.14 (4% + 20p) + regulatory £0.11 (0.48%) + VAT £0.59 = £3.52
Payout £19.98
India: ₹1,000 item, 18% GST on fees, 1 USD = ₹88
Result
Listing ₹17.60 + transaction ₹65.00 + processing ₹75.00 (5% + ₹25) + regulatory ₹0.50 (0.05%) + GST ₹28.46 = ₹186.56
Payout ₹813.44

The fees on every Etsy order

  • Listing fee: 0.20 USD for each listing, charged when it is published or renewed (and again when an item from a multi-quantity listing sells, or an auto-renewing listing sells).
  • Transaction fee: 6.5% of the price you display plus what you charge for delivery and gift wrapping. US sellers pay it without the sales tax; elsewhere it is charged on the price including the VAT you include in it.
  • Payment processing: a percentage of the whole order — shipping and tax included — plus a fixed fee, both set by your bank account’s country: 3% + 0.25 USD in the US, 4% + 0.20 GBP in the UK, 4% + 0.30 EUR in most of the euro area, 5% + 25 INR in India, for example (Etsy Payments Policy, section 9).
  • Regulatory Operating fee: a percentage of the item price, shipping and gift wrap for sellers in nine countries: Canada 0.50%, France 1.14%, Hungary 1.97%, India 0.05%, Italy 0.80%, Spain 0.88%, Türkiye 1.67%, the United Kingdom 0.48% and Vietnam 1.24% (Etsy Help).

Offsite Ads, Share & Save and currency conversion

  • Offsite Ads: when a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on another site and orders within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order — 12%, for the shop’s whole life, once it has sold 10,000 USD in 365 days — and never more than 100 USD an order. Shops under the threshold can opt out.
  • Share & Save: when a buyer orders within 30 days of clicking a link you shared, Etsy refunds 4% of the order, worked out like the transaction fee (Etsy Help). An order that came last through an Offsite ad does not qualify.
  • Currency conversion: listing in a currency other than your payment account’s costs 2.5% of the sale.

VAT and GST on Etsy’s fees

Etsy’s fees are quoted without tax. For sellers in Australia, the EU (except Ireland), India, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, the UK, the UAE and several other countries, Etsy adds VAT or GST to its fees unless you have given it a VAT ID; in Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Serbia, South Africa, Switzerland and Vietnam it adds VAT even with one; in Canada it depends on your province and tax status (Etsy Help). The calculator suggests the country’s standard rate where it knows it; a registered business that reclaims the tax can tick I reclaim it, and the tax is then deducted from the payout but not counted as a cost.

Payout, profit and the price you need

The payout is the order — item, shipping and gift wrap — less Etsy’s fees; tax Etsy collects from the buyer goes to the tax authority. The profit then takes off your own VAT if you include it in your prices, and your costs: Etsy Ads, materials, labour, packaging, the shipping label and anything else.

The price for a target is the lowest item price, to the smallest unit of your currency, that reaches the profit, margin or payout you set, with everything else as entered.

Limitations

  • One item per order. Multi-quantity orders add a listing fee per extra item sold.
  • The one-time shop set-up fee, Etsy Plus and Pattern subscriptions, deposit fees and in-person sales are not included.
  • Etsy converts the USD fees at its own market rate, so the cents can differ from the rate used here.
  • Withholding taxes some countries take from payouts, and income tax on your profit, are not worked out. MySmartCoPilot is not affiliated with Etsy; check fees against your payment account.

Everything happens in your browser. What you enter or open here is not uploaded or stored by MySmartCoPilot. When your prices are not in US dollars, downloads the European Central Bank’s daily reference exchange rates from this site to convert Etsy’s USD listing fee; you can type the rate instead. Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take from a sale?

In the US: 0.20 USD to list, 6.5% of the item, shipping and gift wrap, and 3% + 0.25 USD for payment processing. On a 25.00 USD item with 5.00 shipping that is 0.20 + 1.95 + 1.15 = 3.30, or 11% of the order. Offsite Ads, Etsy Ads and VAT on fees come on top where they apply.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee, the payment processing fee and the Regulatory Operating fee are all charged on the shipping you charge, as well as on the item and any gift wrap.

What are Etsy’s payment processing fees in my country?

They depend on the country of your bank account: for example 3% + 0.25 USD in the US, 4% + 0.20 GBP in the UK, 4% + 0.30 EUR in Germany or France, 3% + 0.25 CAD for domestic Canadian orders, 3% + 0.25 AUD for domestic Australian orders and 5% + 25 INR in India. Pick your country above to see yours.

Is the Offsite Ads fee 15% or 12%?

15% for shops that have sold less than 10,000 USD in the past 365 days, and 12% — for the rest of the shop’s life — once a shop has reached 10,000 USD. Either way it is charged only on orders that came from an Offsite ad, and never more than 100 USD an order.

What is the Regulatory Operating fee?

A small percentage of the item price, shipping and gift wrap that Etsy charges sellers in some countries to cover the cost of regulation there: 0.48% in the UK, 0.50% in Canada, 1.14% in France and 0.05% in India, for example. VAT can apply to it.

What price should I charge on Etsy?

Enter your costs and a target profit, margin or payout: the calculator finds the lowest item price that reaches it after every fee, with your shipping charge as entered. With 5.00 USD shipping and 11.30 of costs, a US shop breaks even at 7.98.
