    How we check our tools

About the Amazon Seller Profit Analyzer

Amazon pays you a total; this analyzer shows what it is made of and what is left once your own costs are paid. Open the Date Range transaction report or your settlement reports (flat file V2) for any months, add a sheet of your landed cost per SKU, and it builds a profit and loss by month, by SKU, by ASIN and by marketplace: product sales, shipping and gift wrap credits, promotions and refunds, then every kind of Amazon fee — referral, FBA fulfilment, storage, inbound, removals, advertising, the subscription, coupons and deals, chargebacks — reimbursements, net proceeds, the cost of the units sold, profit, margin and ROI. Taxes Amazon collects and remits for you are kept out of the profit, and every currency keeps its own report.

It also checks the money: each settlement against the sum of its lines, and each transfer to your bank against your bank statement, so a payout that never arrived stands out. And it spots SKUs whose fulfilment fee per unit jumped and stayed up — often a new measurement of the product — and hands them to the Amazon FBA Reimbursement Finder as remeasurement cases.

Without a pass the result is a free preview: the months, SKUs and payouts found and the first rows of each table show with the amounts hidden; the full figures, the workbook, the CSV files and the hand-over unlock with a Premium pass. Your reports are read in your browser and never uploaded.

    How to use it

    1. In Seller Central, open Payments › Reports Repository and request the Date Range transaction report for the months you want, or download the flat file V2 of each settlement from All statements.
    2. Drop the files in, together or one by one (CSV, tab-separated text, Excel or ZIP). Add your costs per unit (SKU and landed cost; a date column lets a cost change over time) and, if you want the payouts checked, your bank statement.
    3. Choose how many days a transfer may take to reach your bank, and when a rise in the fulfilment fee counts as a jump.
    4. Read the totals, then the profit and loss by month, SKU, ASIN or marketplace, the payouts and the fee jumps.
    5. The workbook, the CSV files, the copied summary and the hand-over of fee jumps unlock with a Premium pass; without one the result is a free preview. The cost and bank templates download at any time.

    Examples

One month of a small FBA seller
    Input
Three $25.00 orders, a $2.00 promotion, $20.00 of ads and the $39.99 subscription; landed cost $8.00 a unit
    Result
    Sales $75.00 − promotion $2.00 − referral fees $11.25 − FBA fees $15.12 − ads $20.00 − subscription $39.99 = net proceeds −$13.36; less $24.00 of cost: a loss of $37.36 that month.
    A refund
    Input
A $25.00 order refunded; Amazon gives back $3.00 of its referral fee
    Result
Refunds −$25.00 and the fee credit +$3.00 go in the month of the refund, and the unit comes back off the cost of goods.
A payout that never reached the bank
    Input
Five transfers in the report; four of the amounts appear in the bank within 7 days
    Result
Four matched, one marked “Not in the bank”, with its date and amount to ask Amazon or your bank about.

    Common uses

    • Seeing which SKUs make money once ads, storage and refunds are counted, not only the referral and FBA fees.
    • A monthly profit and loss for your bookkeeper, from the reports Amazon already gives you.
    • Finding a payout that never reached the bank, or a settlement that does not add up.
    • Catching a fulfilment fee that rose after a new measurement while it can still be claimed back.

    Which report to use

    • The Date Range transaction report (Seller Central help) lists every order, refund, fee, adjustment and transfer between two dates, one line each, with its settlement ID: the easiest way to see whole months.
    • The settlement report (flat file V2) lists every amount of one settlement period, with the total paid out; the analyzer checks that its lines add up to that total.
    • Both hold the same money: when you add both, the transaction report is used for the profit and loss and the settlements for their checks, so nothing counts twice. Rows that two downloads of overlapping dates share are counted once too.

    Profit, margin and ROI

    • Net proceeds = sales + shipping and gift wrap credits + promotions + refunds + Amazon’s fees + reimbursements and other adjustments: what Amazon owes you before your own costs.
    • Cost of the units = (units sold − units refunded) × your landed cost, using the cost in force on each day when your sheet has dates.
    • Profit = net proceeds − cost of the units; margin = profit ÷ product sales; ROI = profit ÷ cost of the units.
    • Taxes collected and withheld by Amazon (marketplace facilitator tax, VAT where Amazon collects it), the reserve held back and the transfers themselves are shown apart and never counted as income or cost. Units with no cost in your sheet are counted and named, and the profit is marked as too high by their cost.

    Payouts and the bank

A transfer is matched with a deposit of the same amount, to the cent, from the day of the transfer up to the days you allow; each deposit is used once. Settlements are matched by their deposit date in the same way, and each settlement whose lines do not add up to its total is shown with the difference. A payout is called “Not in the bank” only when your bank file covers every day its money could arrive on; one that falls before the file starts or too near its end is marked as outside the file’s dates, so a statement that stops early raises no false alarm.

    Fee jumps

For each SKU the fulfilment fee per unit of every order is followed over time. A fee that rises by more than the share and amount you set, holds for at least 3 units and does not come back down is listed with the fee before, the fee now, the units charged and the first day. A rise can be a new rate card, the holiday peak season, a different price band or a surcharge as well as a new measurement: the reimbursement finder asks you to check which before asking Amazon to measure the item again.

    Limitations

    • MySmartCoPilot is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon.
    • An analysis of your own reports, not accounts or tax advice: how sales, fees and taxes are booked is for you and your accountant.
    • Costs outside Amazon (shipping to Amazon, prep, your own warehouse) are in the profit only as part of the landed cost you enter.
    • Lines the reports describe in another language are placed by their type and wording; anything not recognised goes to other adjustments, which are listed.
    • Sellers on amazon.in: the GST and TCS of Indian settlements are better handled by the marketplace payment reconciliation.

    Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, Amazon Seller Profit Analyzer shows the months, SKUs and payouts found in your reports and the first rows of each table (up to 10), with every amount hidden. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

    Which file should I download?

The Date Range transaction report from Payments › Reports Repository is the simplest: request it for whole months and download the CSV. Settlement flat files (V2) from All statements work as well, one per settlement.

Why is my profit different from the payouts?

Payouts follow settlement periods and can hold money back in a reserve; the profit and loss follows the dates of the orders, refunds and fees. Taxes Amazon collects pass through the payout but are not your income, and your landed cost is not in the payout at all.

Can I use it for several marketplaces and currencies?

Yes. Each currency gets its own profit and loss, and within one currency the marketplaces are shown side by side. Amounts in different currencies are never added together.

What do I put in the cost sheet?

One row per SKU with its landed cost per unit: what you paid the supplier plus freight, duty, prep and shipping to Amazon. Add a date column when a cost changes; the cost in force on the day of each sale is used.
