About the Etsy Listing Photo Resizer
Add product photos and get them at the size Etsy recommends: at least 2000 pixels in width and in height, as a landscape (4:3 or 3:2) or a square, the shapes Etsy asks for the first photo. The page starts with Fit under a file size at 1 MB, because Etsy says bigger images may not finish uploading on a slower connection, and saves JPG files, since transparent parts of a PNG appear black on Etsy. The pixel size stays exactly as chosen; only the quality goes down as far as needed.
Use the same shape for every photo of a listing, as Etsy advises, and leave some space around the product: Etsy crops its thumbnails to square, portrait and landscape. Up to 100 photos go in one batch. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Without a pass, the free preview shows each result at preview size with a MySmartCoPilot watermark; in a batch, only the first photos are made.
How to use it
- Drop your product photos on the box or choose them: up to 100 at once.
- Pick landscape 4:3 (2667 × 2000), landscape 3:2 (3000 × 2000) or square (2000 × 2000), the same for every photo of a listing; choose Crop to fill with the part to keep, or Fit with padding in white.

Etsy’s photo rules
- Listing photos at least 2000 pixels in width and in height; the first photo at least 635 pixels each way, or the listing may show up lower in searches.
- Images over 1 MB may not finish uploading, especially on a slower connection.
- JPG, GIF, PNG, SVG, HEIC files; no animated GIFs, and transparent parts of a PNG appear black. Etsy converts colours to sRGB.
- The first photo should be landscape or square, and every photo of a listing the same shape. Etsy crops its thumbnails to square, portrait and landscape, so leave room around the product.
- Up to 20 photos per listing.

Which shape
Etsy names no single ratio: the 4:3 and 3:2 landscapes and the square here all have at least 2000 pixels on each side. Etsy’s own tips lean towards landscape, which uses more of the space in its thumbnails. A phone photo is usually 4:3 already, so landscape 4:3 keeps the whole picture; a camera photo is usually 3:2. Choose Fit with padding in white to keep a tall product whole in a landscape or square frame.

Limitations

- With Fit under a file size the pixel size never changes, so a very detailed photo can still be over 1 MB at the lowest quality: the result says so, and Etsy may still take it on a fast connection.

Why do my PNG photos look black on Etsy?
