About the Compress Image to 50KB

Add a photo and get it back under 50 KB: at most 50,000 bytes, at the highest JPG quality that fits. Exam-size photos usually fit at a high quality; a phone photo with millions of pixels is made smaller in pixels too, until it fits. JPG files are written with MozJPEG, an encoder built for small files.

50 KB is the upper limit for the photo and the left thumb impression of IBPS and SBI forms (which also want at least 20 KB) and for a CUET (UG) signature. The rules are listed below with their official sources. Everything runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded. Without a pass, the free preview shows your result at preview size with a MySmartCoPilot watermark; in a batch, only the first files are made.

How to use it

  1. Add the photo: drop it on the box, choose it, or paste a screenshot. Several at once work too.
  2. The size is already set to 50 KB. Keep the format on JPG, which exam forms ask for.
  3. Check the result: its size must also be above the form’s minimum (IBPS and SBI: 20 KB). Then download it — with a pass, or after unlocking this result — or all of them as a ZIP with a pass.

Examples

IBPS or SBI photo
Input
480 × 600 px portrait · 50 KB
Result
A JPG of at most 50,000 bytes at a high quality.

The bank forms also prefer 200 × 230 pixels and need at least 20 KB: the Photo & Signature Resizer makes the pixels and the 20–50 KB range in one step.

Left thumb impression
Input
Phone photo of the impression · 50 KB
Result
A JPG under 50 KB.

For the 240 × 240 px at 200 DPI the banks prefer, use the Photo & Signature Resizer.

Pixel sizes that fit in 50 KB

Measured with MozJPEG on portrait photos:

  • A 200 × 230 px photo is about 17–30 KB at quality 95 and 37–62 KB at full quality: it fits 50 KB at a very high quality. A plain, smooth photo can come out below 20 KB at that size — the bank forms’ minimum — and then needs padding.
  • A 413 × 531 px passport-size photo (3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI) is about 25–46 KB at quality 85, so it fits 50 KB too.
  • A phone photo is made smaller in pixels: a detailed passport-shaped portrait of 430 × 553 px is about 49 KB at quality 85, and plainer photos fit more pixels.

A busy background or a dark, noisy photo needs more bytes for the same pixels.

Between 20 KB and 50 KB

Most bank-exam files have a minimum as well: an IBPS or SBI photo must be at least 20 KB. A file is safe from 20,480 bytes (20 × 1,024) up to 50,000 bytes (50 × 1,000), whichever way the form counts a kilobyte. If your photo comes out below 20 KB, raise it with Increase Image Size in KB, which keeps the picture exactly as it is, or let the Photo & Signature Resizer keep it inside both limits.

Other sizes

Compress Image to KB has buttons for 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 KB, 1 MB and any other size, with the forms that ask for each. The most-asked sizes have pages too: 20 KB · 100 KB · 200 KB.

Limitations

  • Up to 100 images at a time, 50 megapixels and 200 MB each. Animated images keep their first frame.
  • This page sets a maximum only: a file can come out below a form’s minimum (see “Between 20 KB and 50 KB”).
  • Only the form decides what it accepts: check its pixel size, background and other rules too.

Privacy

Your photos are processed in your browser and never uploaded. The files you download contain no camera details, dates or GPS location.

Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, Compress Image to 50KB shows your photo under 50 KB at preview size (up to 640 pixels) with a MySmartCoPilot watermark and its real size; in a batch the first photos (up to 3) are made. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

How do I compress a photo to 50 KB?

Add it here: the size is set to 50 KB. The tool tries JPG qualities from 92 down and keeps the highest whose file is at most 50,000 bytes; only when quality 40 is still too big does it reduce the pixels.

My photo must be between 20 KB and 50 KB. What do I do?

Compress it here first. If the result is below 20 KB, raise it with Increase Image Size in KB: the file grows to just over 20,480 bytes and the picture stays the same. For IBPS and SBI forms the Photo & Signature Resizer does both, at the preferred 200 × 230 pixels.

Is 50 KB counted as 50,000 or 51,200 bytes?

Forms differ, so the file is made at most 50,000 bytes: under 50 KB whichever way the form counts.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. It is compressed in your browser, and the page keeps working offline once it has loaded.
