About the Compress Image to 100KB
Add a photo, a signature or a scanned page and get it back under 100 KB: at most 100,000 bytes, at the highest JPG quality that fits. A passport-size photo fits at a very high quality; a phone photo or a full-page scan is made smaller in pixels when it must, so writing stays readable. JPG files are written with MozJPEG, an encoder built for small files.
100 KB is the limit for the handwritten declaration of IBPS and SBI forms (which also want at least 50 KB), for NEET (UG) and JEE (Main) signatures, and IGNOU’s admission form takes a photo and a signature of less than 100 KB. The rules are listed below with their official sources. Everything runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded. Without a pass, the free preview shows your result at preview size with a MySmartCoPilot watermark; in a batch, only the first files are made.
How to use it
- Add the photo or scan: drop it on the box, choose it, or paste a screenshot. Several at once work too.
- The size is already set to 100 KB. Keep the format on JPG, which these forms ask for.
- Check the result: its size, quality and pixels; zoom in with the eye button to make sure small writing is still readable. Then download it — with a pass, or after unlocking this result — or all of them as a ZIP with a pass.
Examples
Photo of the declaration on white paper · 100 KB
A JPG of at most 100,000 bytes.
The banks prefer 800 × 400 pixels at 200 DPI and need at least 50 KB: the Photo & Signature Resizer makes both and cleans the paper white.
Scan of a signature · 100 KB
A JPG under 100 KB; the forms also want at least 10 KB.
Where 100 KB is the limit
Check the notification of your own exam or application: rules change from one round to the next.
- IBPS and SBI handwritten declaration: 50–100 KB, JPG, 800 × 400 pixels at 200 DPI (IBPS notification, SBI advertisement)
- NEET (UG) signature: 10–100 KB, JPG (NEET (UG) information bulletin)
- JEE (Main) signature: 10–100 KB, JPG (JEE (Main) information bulletin)
- IGNOU admission photo and signature: less than 100 KB, JPG (IGNOU online admission)
Pixel sizes that fit in 100 KB
Measured with MozJPEG on portrait photos: a 413 × 531 px passport-size photo (3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI) is about 51–98 KB even at quality 95, so it fits 100 KB nearly untouched, and a 200 × 230 px photo fits at full quality. A phone photo with millions of pixels is made smaller.
For scanned pages and handwriting, the pixels matter more than the quality: small writing needs enough of them to stay readable. If a scan only fits 100 KB at a small size, crop it to the part that is needed first.
“Less than 100 KB” and “up to 100 KB”
Forms word it differently, and some count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes. A file of at most 100,000 bytes passes all of them unless it is exactly 100,000 bytes long — the tool keeps the highest quality that fits, so files usually end a little below. Each result shows its exact size.
A minimum works the other way round: the banks’ declaration needs at least 50 KB, safe from 51,200 bytes up. Increase Image Size in KB raises a smaller file without changing the picture.
Other sizes
Compress Image to KB has buttons for 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 KB, 1 MB and any other size, with the forms that ask for each. The most-asked sizes have pages too: 20 KB · 50 KB · 200 KB. For a PDF, use Compress PDF to Size.
Limitations
- Up to 100 images at a time, 50 megapixels and 200 MB each. Animated images keep their first frame.
- A full-page scan squeezed into 100 KB can lose fine print: crop it, or check that it is still readable.
- Only the form decides what it accepts: check its pixel size, background and other rules too.
Privacy
Your photos and scans are processed in your browser and never uploaded. The files you download contain no camera details, dates or GPS location.
Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Compress Image to 100KB shows your photo under 100 KB at preview size (up to 640 pixels) with a MySmartCoPilot watermark and its real size; in a batch the first photos (up to 3) are made. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
How do I compress an image to 100 KB?
Add it here: the size is set to 100 KB. The tool tries JPG qualities from 92 down and keeps the highest whose file is at most 100,000 bytes; only when quality 40 is still too big does it reduce the pixels.
Can I compress a PDF to 100 KB here?
No, this page takes images. For a PDF use Compress PDF to Size, which keeps text as text where it can. To turn photos of pages into one small PDF, use Image to PDF with a size limit.
Does 100 KB mean 100,000 or 102,400 bytes?
Forms differ, so the file is made at most 100,000 bytes: under 100 KB whichever way the form counts.
Is my file uploaded?
No. It is compressed in your browser, and the page keeps working offline once it has loaded.
