Worked example: marking five answer sheets against a four-question key
A teacher marks a four-question multiple-choice quiz with the key A, B, C, D: one mark for each right answer, nothing taken off for a wrong one. Five students answered ABCD, ABCA, ABAA, AAAA and BAAA.
ABCD matches the key in all four places: 4 marks, 100 %.
ABCA gets the first three right and scores 3, or 75 %; ABAA scores 2, or 50 %.
AAAA is right only on the first question, 1 mark, while BAAA matches the key nowhere and scores 0.
The grader ranks the five from first to fifth and shows every answer against the key, so the questions most of the class got wrong stand out.
Questions
Can the MCQ grader handle negative marking?
Yes. You set the marks for a right answer and the deduction for a wrong one, and blank answers score nothing; the grader then ranks the class and analyses every question.
Do I need a scanner to read OMR sheets?
No. Print the sheets from the OMR generator and photograph each filled sheet with a phone; the scanner reads the bubbles and marks them against your key.
Can the worksheets be printed with answers?
Yes. The maths worksheet, vocabulary worksheet and question paper tools each produce an answer key beside the sheet, so marking takes a glance.
Are students’ names kept anywhere?
The graders and certificate makers work on the lists you paste into this browser, and a class list goes no further unless you export and share the result.
