Content
One term and its definition per line: “term - definition”, “term: definition”, or two columns pasted from a spreadsheet or a Quizlet export (a tab between them).
One group per line, “Group: item, item, item” — or the group name on a line ending in “:” and its items on the lines below.
One sentence per line. Put [square brackets] round the missing words for Missing Word; Unjumble uses the sentences as they are.
One question per block, a blank line between blocks: the question, then the answers one per line with the right one marked “*” (or written first). Or one line: question | right | wrong | wrong.
The items in their right order, one per line (Rank Order shuffles them).
Words for Hangman and Anagram, one per line. Leave empty to use the terms.
Then click or tap the picture where each label belongs, and type the label. Pins can also be moved with their position boxes.

About the Classroom Game Maker (Match Up, Hangman & More)
Type or paste your content once — terms and definitions, groups, sentences, questions, an ordered list, a word list or a picture with label pins — and play it in any of 15 templates, switching with one click: Match Up, Matching Pairs (memory), Find the Match, Quiz with lives and a timer, Group Sort, Unjumble, Anagram, Hangman, Missing Word, True or False against the clock, Whack-a-Word, Rank Order, Flip Cards, Labelled Diagram and a Practice Test that mixes multiple choice, true or false, matching and written answers and marks itself.
Each template says whether your content fits it and, if not, what it needs. Games run on the page or full screen on a projector (the Focus button), with keyboard play, read-aloud buttons using your device’s own voices, and calm motion when your device asks for reduced motion; a leaderboard keeps names and scores on this device. With a pass you can send a game as a link or QR code (the activity travels inside the link: nothing is uploaded), download it as one offline HTML file that plays with no connection, and print worksheets with answer keys. Without a pass you get the free preview: every template, played here with the first 8 items of each kind.
How to use it
- Give the activity a title, then type or paste content in one or more tabs: Terms (“term - definition”, “term: definition” or two columns pasted from a spreadsheet or Quizlet), Groups, Sentences (with [brackets] round missing words), Questions, Order, Words or a Picture with pins.
- Or open Import to read a CSV or XLSX file, a text file, a GIFT or Aiken quiz, or a Quiz Maker link.
- Choose a game. Templates your content cannot play yet are dimmed and say what they need. Press Play; New order shuffles it again.
- At the end, add a name to this device’s leaderboard and play again. For a class, press Focus to fill the screen.
- With a pass, or after unlocking that result: copy the share link (or show its QR code), download the offline file, or make a worksheet and download its PDF. The free preview shows the worksheet as marked page images and the link shortened.
- Save keeps the activity in this browser; Save the activity as a file (under Import) moves it to another device.
Examples
Terms: 12 Spanish words with their English meanings
Match Up, Matching Pairs, Find the Match, a Quiz (each meaning among three others), True or False, Hangman and Anagram (with the meaning as the clue), Missing Word, Flip Cards and a Practice Test — all from the same list.
Groups: “Solids: ice, wood, iron” · “Liquids: water, oil, milk” · “Gases: steam, oxygen, helium”
Group Sort places each item in its group; Whack-a-Word asks students to hit only the solids as words pop up.
A photo of a plant with pins on the flower, leaf, stem and root
Labelled Diagram asks for each label on its pin; the worksheet prints the picture with numbered pins, lines to write on and an answer key.
Common uses
- Starting a lesson with a quick True or False round on the board.
- Revising vocabulary in a language class with Matching Pairs and Hangman.
- Homework: a link to a Group Sort or a Practice Test that students open on their phones.
- A printed cut-out card set or a missing-words sheet for a lesson without devices.
- A computer room with no internet: the offline file on each machine.
What each kind of content plays
- Terms and definitions: Match Up, Matching Pairs, Find the Match, Quiz, True or False, Hangman and Anagram (terms of 3 letters or more, with the definition as the clue), Missing Word (type the term), Flip Cards and the Practice Test. Match Up, Matching Pairs and Find the Match show up to 8 pairs at a time and play a longer list in rounds.
- Groups: Group Sort and Whack-a-Word (the first group is the one to hit).
- Sentences: Unjumble, and Missing Word for words in [brackets];
[mat|rug]accepts either word. - Questions (one right and up to five wrong answers): Quiz, True or False and the Practice Test.
- An ordered list: Rank Order. A word list: Hangman and Anagram. A picture with pins: Labelled Diagram.
Typed answers ignore capital letters, accents, extra spaces and a full stop at the end.
Links, QR codes and the offline file
The share link carries the whole activity after the # of the address, compressed; browsers never send that part to a server, so nothing is stored or collected anywhere. Whoever opens it plays the game in their own browser and can switch to any other template that fits. A link with a picture works only for small pictures; for a labelled diagram with a large photo, use the offline file. QR codes suit shorter activities (about 2,300 characters of link).
The offline file is a single HTML page with the games and your activity inside it. Open it in any modern browser — from a USB stick, a shared drive or an email attachment — and it plays with no connection. It starts with the quiz timer, lives and read-aloud chosen on this page, and whoever plays it can change them there (the quiz timer can be switched off).
Printable worksheets
Five layouts, each with an answer key on its own page (you can leave it out): a matching worksheet (numbered terms, lettered definitions in a new order), cut-out cards (terms and definitions on cards with dashed cutting lines), missing words (the sentences with gaps and a word bank), a labelled diagram (your picture with numbered pins and lines to write on) and a quiz sheet (lettered answers). Paper is A4 or US Letter, from your country and changeable. Letters of scripts the PDF fonts do not have print as “?”, and the page says which.
Limitations
- Scores are kept only on the device that played; there is no way to collect a whole class’s scores in one place.
- There is no embed code: the game plays on this page, from a link, or from the offline file.
- Without a pass, every game plays the first 8 items of each kind, and the link, the QR code, the offline file and the worksheet PDFs are locked.
- Pictures are reduced to 1,000 pixels on their longest side when added; a link can carry only a small picture.
- Worksheet PDFs draw Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters; scripts such as Arabic, Devanagari or Chinese print as “?” in the PDF (they show correctly in the games).
Privacy
On this device: nothing is sent
Your content stays in your browser: games, links and files are made on your device, and a share link carries the activity itself, so nothing is uploaded or stored on a server. Leaderboard names stay on the device they were typed on.
Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Classroom Game Maker (Match Up, Hangman & More) shows every game played here with the first 8 items of each kind, the worksheets as marked page images and a shortened share link. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded, copied or shared. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Do I need a pass?
To play games with more than 8 items, and to copy the link or QR code, download the offline file or print worksheets, yes: a Pro pass unlocks every Pro tool. Without one you see a free preview: every game played here with the first 8 items of each kind, the worksheets as marked page images and the link shortened. A game opened from a link plays in full.
Do students need an account?
No. They open the link or the offline file and play in their own browser. Nothing they do is sent anywhere.
Can I import from Quizlet?
Yes: in Quizlet, export a set (it gives one card per line with a tab between term and definition) and paste it into Terms. Spreadsheets pasted as two columns work the same way.
Can I bring in a quiz from Quiz Maker?
Yes. Paste the quiz’s share link under Import, or open its GIFT or Aiken export. One-answer and true-or-false questions become questions; short-answer questions become terms with definitions.
How does the leaderboard work?
At the end of a game you can add a name and the score to the leaderboard of that activity and game on this device. It keeps the best 10, highest score first and then the quickest.
Can I play on a projector?
Yes. Press Focus at the top of the page to fill the screen with the game; Esc leaves it. Buttons are large enough to tap on an interactive whiteboard, and every game also works with the keyboard.
Is my activity saved?
The activity you are working on is kept in this browser as you type. Save adds it to the saved activities list; Save the activity as a file writes a file you can open here on another device.
