About the Math Worksheet Generator
Make a maths worksheet in a few clicks and download it as a print-ready PDF with its answer key: column addition and subtraction with or without regrouping, times tables and long multiplication, division facts and long division with or without remainders, fractions, decimals, integers (negative numbers), rounding and place value, and reading or drawing the time on clock faces. The preview shows exactly what prints, and every answer is worked out exactly — no rounding errors.
You choose the numbers as ranges or lists (10-99, or 2, 5, 10), how many problems, the layout and the size. A short seed printed on each page makes the same sheet again whenever you need it, and up to 40 versions give every pupil a different sheet with its own key — all in one PDF.
How to use it
- Pick what to practise, for example Addition or Division, and tap a ready-made set such as 3-digit or 3-digit ÷ 1-digit — or type your own ranges.
- Choose the options that matter for the skill: regrouping (carrying or borrowing), remainders, the kind of fraction problem, decimal places, the rounding place or the clock times.
- Set how many problems go on each sheet and, under Sheets and answer key, how many different versions you need and how the answer key should look.
- Check the Preview (switch to Answer key to see the answers), then press Download PDF. Print it at 100% (“Actual size”). New problems makes a fresh set with the same settings.
Examples
Addition · 10-99 + 10-99 · Regrouping: With · 20 problems
Column sums such as 47 + 38 (7 + 8 = 15, so a 1 is carried; answer 85), five to a row, and an answer key on page 2
Division · 3-digit ÷ 1-digit · Remainders: Some · 12 problems
Problems such as 284 ÷ 6 in the bracket layout, four to a row on one page; for that one the key shows 47 R 2 above the line and the working 24, 44, 42, 2 below it
Fractions · Add and subtract · Denominators 2-12 · One a multiple
1/2 + 3/8 = 7/8 and 5/6 + 1/3 = 1 1/6 (answers in simplest form, as mixed numbers above 1)
30 versions · 20 problems each · Answer key: Compact list
One PDF with 30 worksheets (each labelled “Version n” with its own problems), then the answers of all 30 versions in numbered lists on 3 pages
Telling the time · Both · Times to 5 minutes · Times in words
Clocks to read and blank clocks to draw on, such as “quarter to four” (3:45) — the key shows the time or draws the hands
Common uses
- Teachers: daily practice, homework, tests and a different version for each table so pupils cannot copy.
- Parents and tutors: a fresh sheet on exactly the skill a child is learning, with the answers ready for checking.
- Revision before an exam — mixed fraction or integer problems, rounding and place value.
- Early years: number facts within 10 or 20, missing-number boxes (3 + __ = 7) and o’clock and half-past clocks in large print.
What each topic makes
- Addition and subtraction: two to four numbers in columns (or in a line), from your ranges. Subtraction never goes below zero. Optional largest answer, for “within 20”.
- Multiplication: times-table facts in a line or long multiplication in columns; for a two-digit second number the key shows each partial product.
- Division: choose the number to divide (3-digit ÷ 1-digit) or the answer (division facts, the times tables backwards), with no remainders, some or always. Long division uses the bracket layout; answers are written with R, as in 47 R 2.
- Fractions: add, subtract, multiply or divide (with mixed numbers if you like), simplify, compare with <, > or =, find equivalent fractions, and convert between improper fractions and mixed numbers. Answers are in simplest form.
- Decimals: add and subtract with the decimal points lined up, multiply, and divide by whole numbers with answers that come out exactly.
- Integers: all four operations with negative numbers, written as −5 + (−3) or in the style you choose.
- Rounding and place value: round to a place, give the value or the place of an underlined digit, and write numbers in expanded or standard form, with international or Indian place names (lakhs and crores).
- Telling the time: analogue clocks to read, or to draw the hands on, to the hour, half hour, quarter hour, 5 minutes or minute.
Regrouping (carrying and borrowing)
A sum needs regrouping when a column adds up to 10 or more: in 47 + 38 the ones make 15, so 5 is written and 1 ten is carried. A subtraction needs it when a digit is smaller than the one below it: in 52 − 27 the 2 ones cannot lose 7, so a ten is broken into ones. With gives only problems that need at least one regrouping, Without only problems that need none — useful for first teaching the column method — and Any mixes both. Multiplication follows the same idea: 23 × 3 needs none, 27 × 3 does.
Seeds, links and versions
Every sheet is worked out from its settings and its seed (a code such as K7Q2-9XMA, printed at the foot of each page). Type the same seed with the same settings and you get exactly the same problems and answer key on any device — handy when an answer key goes missing. Copy link gives a link that opens the same settings and seed; they travel in the part of the link after #, which browsers do not send to servers. Versions are made from the same seed, so “30 versions, seed K7Q2-9XMA” can be made again too.
Answer keys
The key either repeats each worksheet page with the answers filled in (in red, which prints as dark grey on a black-and-white printer) or lists all answers compactly, numbered, so the keys for a whole class fit on a few pages. For long division the key also shows the working: each product taken away, with a rule under it, and what is left with the next digit brought down. A digit 0 in the answer brings the next digit down too, as on paper (624 ÷ 6 shows 6, then 24, 24 and 0). Long multiplication shows the partial products, such as 47 × 69: 423 and 2,820, total 3,243.
Limitations
- Up to 100 problems on a sheet, 40 versions and 400 pages in one PDF. Numbers can have up to 7 digits (multiplication: up to 4 digits in the second number).
- Arithmetic and these skills only — no word problems, geometry, measurement or money.
- Decimals are divided by whole numbers only; fractions use denominators from 2 to 100.
- Clocks are 12-hour analogue clocks; the words for times follow British usage (quarter past, twenty to).
- Labels on the sheet (Name, Date, Score) are in English. The title and instructions can be typed in other languages; the PDF can print Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters, but not scripts such as Devanagari.
- When only a few different problems match your settings (for example additions within 10 that need regrouping), some repeat; the preview says so.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a math worksheet with an answer key?
Pick a topic, set the numbers (or tap a ready-made set) and press Download PDF. With Add the answer key to the PDF ticked (the default), the answer key pages come after the worksheet. Answer key only downloads just the key, for example to keep it separate from the pupils’ copies.
What do “with regrouping” and “without regrouping” mean?
Regrouping is carrying in addition and borrowing in subtraction. 47 + 38 needs it (7 + 8 = 15), 42 + 35 does not; 52 − 27 needs it (2 is less than 7), 57 − 22 does not. Choose Without to practise the column method first and With once pupils can carry and borrow.
Can every pupil get a different worksheet?
Yes. Set Different versions to the number of pupils (up to 40). Each version has its own problems from the same settings and its own answer key, and the PDF labels every sheet “Version n”. Choose the compact answer list to keep the keys short.
How do I print the same worksheet again later?
Use the same settings and the seed printed at the bottom of the sheet, or keep the link from Copy link — it reopens the exact worksheet. This page also remembers your last settings in this browser.
How are numbers rounded when the next digit is 5?
Halves round up, as taught in schools: 4,750 to the nearest hundred is 4,800 and 2.45 to the nearest tenth is 2.5. Rounding to tenths keeps the 0 in answers such as 59.0, which shows the precision asked for.
Can I use lakhs and crores?
Yes. Under Rounding & place value choose Indian place names (ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, lakhs, ten lakhs, crores), and under Page layout, title and number style write numbers as 12,34,567. Rounding can then ask for the nearest lakh.
Why do some problems repeat?
Some settings allow only a few different problems — there are only 12 o’clock times, and only nine additions within 10 that need regrouping (1 + 9 … 9 + 1). The tool uses each one before repeating any, never puts the same one twice in a row (unless only one exists), and the preview tells you when this happens.
