1. Your video
Trim the video to the part viewers should watch: minutes and seconds, such as 1:30.
Captions make the video usable for people who cannot hear it. An SRT file becomes WebVTT with the Subtitle Converter.
2. Questions
Play the video to the moment you want, then press Add a question here. The video pauses at each question while the viewer answers it.
No questions yet.

The offline package is a folder with the video and a page that plays the activity in any browser, with no internet connection: share it on a drive, a USB stick or your own website. The SCORM package goes into a learning platform, which records each viewer’s score.
The activity file keeps your questions and settings (not the video) so that you can open them again later. The free preview plays the first 3 questions on this page.

About the Interactive Video Quiz Maker (Add Questions to Your Own Video)
Turn your own video into a lesson that checks understanding as it plays. Open an MP4 or WebM file, trim it to the part that matters, and add questions at the moments you choose — multiple choice with one or more right answers, true or false, short answer, a number with an allowed difference, or a note to read. When a viewer watches, the video pauses at each question until it is answered, and the end shows the score and a review with timestamps that jump back to each moment.
You decide how strict it is: viewers can be stopped from skipping ahead past what they have watched, a wrong answer can replay the part before it, and a pass mark says who passed. With a Pro pass, share the activity as an offline package — a folder with the video and a page that plays it in any browser with no internet connection — or as a SCORM package for a learning platform, which records each viewer’s score. The video stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.
How to use it
- Choose your video (MP4 or WebM). Add a WebVTT captions file if you have one, and trim the start and end if viewers should see only part of it.
- Play the video to the moment for a question, pause, and press Add a question here. Write the question, the options or the accepted answers, and an explanation viewers see after answering.
- Choose whether viewers may skip ahead, whether a wrong answer replays the part before it, whether right or wrong shows at once or only at the end, and the pass mark.
- Press Play the activity to watch it as a viewer would: answer the questions and read the score and the review at the end.
- Without a pass the free preview plays the first 3 questions here. With a Pro pass, or after unlocking, download the offline package, the SCORM package or a viewer’s result PDF. Save activity file keeps your questions to open again later.
Examples
A 6-minute video on the water cycle · questions at 1:10 (multiple choice), 2:45 (true or false), 4:30 (short answer) · skipping off · pass mark 60%
The video pauses three times; a viewer with two right answers scores 2 of 3 points · 66.7% · passed
Replay on · question at 3:00 after a question at 2:00 · the viewer answers wrongly
The part from 2:00 plays again and the question is asked once more; the first answer is the one scored
Common uses
- Teachers flipping a lesson: students watch the explanation at home and answer as they go.
- Trainers making induction and safety videos with a pass mark for a learning platform.
- Tutors checking that a recorded lesson was understood before the next session.
- Anyone who wants viewers to think at the important moments instead of watching passively.
How viewers take it
- The video plays in the browser’s own player, with its own controls, captions and full screen.
- At each question it pauses and the question appears below it; pressing play again does nothing until the question is answered.
- With skipping ahead off, moving the playhead past what has been watched brings it back; going back is always allowed.
- With replay after a wrong answer, the part since the previous question plays again and the question is asked once more (up to three tries). The first answer is the one scored, so a replay helps the viewer learn without changing the score.
- The end shows the points, the percentage, pass or fail, and every question with the viewer’s answer, the right answer and the explanation, each with its time to jump back to.
The packages
- Offline package (ZIP):
index.html, the player, your video, the captions and the questions. Unzip it and openindex.htmlin any browser, with or without internet; put the folder on a website and link to it, or show it in a frame. A viewer’s answers stay in their own browser, and the result page says how to print it or save it as a PDF with the browser’s own Print command. - SCORM package (ZIP, SCORM 1.2 or 2004 4th Edition): upload it to your learning platform without unzipping it. It reports the score, pass or fail, each answer as an interaction, and completion when 90% of the video has been watched, and it resumes where the viewer stopped. To check a package before uploading it, open it in the SCORM Package Builder’s emulator by building it there from the same video and activity file.
Limitations
- It works with a video file on your device (MP4 or WebM; MOV where the browser plays it). Videos on streaming sites cannot be used: if the video is yours, use your own copy of the file.
- The offline package does not collect viewers’ results for you: each viewer sees and prints their own. A SCORM package in a learning platform records everyone’s score.
- A video that this browser cannot play cannot be used here either; convert it to MP4 (H.264) first.
- The free preview plays the first 3 questions; every question plays with a Pro pass. Your editor and the activity file keep all of them.
- Up to 200 questions per activity and 2 GB of video; the packages contain the whole video file, so large videos make large packages that take a while to save.
- SCORM 1.2 platforms keep 4,096 characters of a viewer’s progress: with very many questions the latest answers may not fit, and those questions are asked again when the viewer comes back. SCORM 2004 keeps 64,000 characters.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Interactive Video Quiz Maker (Add Questions to Your Own Video) shows the activity played on this page with its first 3 questions, its score and a review of every answer. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Can I use a YouTube or other online video?
No. This tool works with a video file on your device, which never leaves it. If you made the video, use your own copy of the file (an MP4 from your editing program or your account’s download).
Do viewers need a pass or an account?
No. The offline package plays in any browser for anyone you give it to, and a SCORM package plays in your learning platform for its users. A pass is only for making the packages and the result PDF here.
Which answer counts when a part is replayed?
The first one. Replay after a wrong answer is there to help viewers learn: they watch the part again and answer again, but the score keeps their first answer, so it stays fair.
Can I edit an activity later?
Yes: Save activity file keeps the questions, the times and the settings (not the video). Open the file again, choose the same video, and carry on.
How do I add captions?
Add a WebVTT (.vtt) captions file. An SRT file can be turned into WebVTT with the Subtitle Converter. Captions go into the packages too.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is played and packaged in your browser; MySmartCoPilot never receives it.
