About the Etsy Shop Profit Analyzer
Drop in your Etsy monthly statement CSVs — one a month — and, if you have them, the Order Items and Orders CSVs (from Etsy’s Download Data tab) and your own cost sheet: reading your files needs no pass. Every statement line is classed: sales, refunds, listing and renewal fees, transaction fees, payment processing fees, Offsite Ads and Etsy Ads, shipping labels, the Regulatory Operating fee, currency conversion and VAT or GST on Etsy’s fees. Sales tax that Etsy collects from buyers and passes on is kept out of your revenue, and each month is reconciled with the deposits to your bank.
You get revenue, every fee and its share of revenue, the cost of goods and the net profit and margin per month, per listing and per SKU, the listings that lose money after fees and costs, and an Excel workbook for your accountant — all worked out in your browser. A line type the tool does not know is listed for you to class once.
The free preview shows the latest month’s totals and fee split in full; every month, the profit of each listing, the deposit reconciliation and the Excel workbook come with a Premium pass.
How to use it
- Get a monthly statement for each month: on Etsy.com, Shop Manager → Finances → Monthly statements, pick the month and press Generate CSV; Etsy e-mails you when the file is ready (Etsy Help).
- For profit by listing and SKU, also get the Order Items CSV (and the Orders CSV if you like) from Shop Manager → Settings → Options → Download Data → Orders (Etsy Help): these are your own files, so they need no pass.
- Drop all the files into the box at once; each is recognised by its columns. A file the tool does not recognise asks you to match its columns.
- Enter the cost of making each item and its packaging in the cost table (or drop a cost sheet with SKU or title and Unit cost columns), the balance your Payment account started with, and whether you reclaim the VAT on Etsy’s fees.
- Read the latest month, every month, the profit of each listing and the deposits; check the line types table for anything not classed. The Excel workbook and Copy summary unlock with a Premium pass.

How each line is counted
- Revenue = sales + refunds (refunds are negative). Lines for the sales tax Etsy collects from buyers as a marketplace facilitator are added and taken off again in the statement, so they never count as your revenue.
- Etsy fees: listing and renewal (including auto-renew and multi-quantity fees), transaction fees on items and shipping, payment processing, Offsite Ads, Etsy Ads, shipping labels, the Regulatory Operating fee, currency conversion, and any other fee or subscription. A credit (Etsy giving a fee back after a refund) lowers its fee.
- VAT or GST on Etsy’s fees is a cost, unless you are registered and reclaim it.
- Profit = revenue − Etsy fees − VAT on fees you cannot reclaim − cost of goods.
Etsy lists its fees and taxes on its fees page; the line types in your statements are listed under the report with how each was counted.
Profit by listing and SKU
With the Order Items CSV, each sold item gets its order’s fees, shipping and refunds in proportion to its value in the order, plus its own listing and renewal fees, and its cost of goods from your costs (matched by SKU, then listing ID, then title). Choose SKU to keep variations apart. Etsy Ads, shipping labels and fees of listings that did not sell are shop-level costs: they are in the monthly profit, not in any one listing.
The deposit reconciliation
Your Payment account balance at the end of a month = the balance at its start + the month’s sales, refunds, fees and taxes − the deposits to your bank. A balance left at the month end is still in the account or held in a reserve; enter the first month’s opening balance so the closing balances match your statements.
Limitations
- MySmartCoPilot is not affiliated with or endorsed by Etsy.
- Etsy does not publish the layout of its CSV files: the columns are read by their names, a file with other names asks you to match them, and statements in a language other than English need their line types classed once in the table.
- One currency at a time: lines in another currency are left out and the tool says so.
- Per-listing profit needs the Order Items CSV for the same months as the statements; sales without items in it count in the months but not in any listing.
- Income tax, your own shipping supplies and other costs outside Etsy are not included unless you add them to the cost of each item.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Etsy Shop Profit Analyzer shows the latest month’s totals and fee split in full, with the other months, the profit of each listing and the deposit reconciliation hidden. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Which Etsy files do I need?
The monthly statement CSV for each month is enough for profit by month and the fee split. Add the Order Items CSV from Download Data for profit by listing and SKU, and your unit costs for the profit after the cost of goods.
Is the sales tax Etsy collects part of my revenue?
No. In the states and countries where Etsy collects sales tax or VAT from buyers itself, it is added to the buyer’s total and passed on to the tax authority. Those lines cancel out in the statement and never count as your revenue.
Are my files uploaded?
No. They are read in your browser and never sent anywhere. Only your costs, your classes for line types and your settings are kept in this browser for next time.
Why does the profit differ from my deposits?
Deposits are what Etsy sends to your bank, on its schedule, from the balance of your Payment account; profit also takes off your cost of goods, and a month’s balance may be deposited the next month. The deposit reconciliation shows the difference month by month.
Do I need a pass?
To see every month and listing and to download the workbook, yes: a Premium pass unlocks every Premium tool. Without a pass you see a free preview: the latest month’s totals and fee split in full, while the other months, the profit of each listing and the deposit reconciliation stay locked.
