About the Amazon Business Report Analyzer

Business Reports tell you how each product’s page did — sessions, page views, units, sales and the share of page views with the featured offer (Buy Box) — but one date range at a time. Add the Detail Page Sales and Traffic by Child Item report of several weeks or months and this analyzer follows every child ASIN over them: conversion (units ordered ÷ sessions), Buy Box share and sales, each against the ASIN’s own baseline.

It flags the ASINs whose conversion fell, whose Buy Box share fell, and those with traffic but no sales, and ranks them by revenue at risk: what their sessions would have sold at their usual conversion, less what they sold. It also shows the child ASINs whose share of their parent’s traffic moved — one variation taking another’s sessions — and charts any ASIN over time. Add a search term report and your ad spend and ad sales sit beside each period, with TACoS and the units the ads did not bring.

Without a pass the result is a free preview: every count shows, with the first ASINs of each list and the charts under a watermark; the tables, the workbook and the charts unlock with a Premium pass. Your reports are read in this browser and never uploaded.

How to use it

  1. In Seller Central, open Reports › Business Reports and choose Detail Page Sales and Traffic by Child Item. Pick a week or a month and get the CSV file.
  2. Do the same for earlier weeks or months: each file is one period. Name it with its first and last day (BusinessReport_YYYY-MM-DD_YYYY-MM-DD.csv) or type them under the file.
  3. Optional: add a search term report of the same dates (daily rows), for the ads beside each period.
  4. Set the baseline and what counts as a drop.
  5. Read the ASINs at risk, the parent and child mix, the trends and the ads. Without a pass they are a free preview; the tables and the workbook unlock with a Premium pass.

Examples

Conversion fell
Input
A yoga mat: 1,000 sessions both weeks; units 100 → 60 at $29.99
Result
Conversion 10% → 6%, more than 20% below its baseline. Revenue at risk: (1,000 × 10% − 60) × $29.99 = $1,199.60.
Buy Box share fell
Input
Its green variation: Buy Box share 98% → 70% of page views, sessions 500 → 1,500
Result
Flagged: 28 points below its baseline, while its sessions tripled — check who holds the featured offer.
Traffic, no sales
Input
A strap: 120 sessions, 0 units; it sold 20 of 200 sessions the week before at $9.99
Result
Flagged, with $119.88 at risk: 120 sessions × 10% × $9.99.

Common uses

  • A weekly check of a catalogue: which ASINs lost conversion or the Buy Box, ranked by what it costs.
  • Spotting a hijacked or out-priced listing from a falling Buy Box share while sessions hold.
  • Seeing which variation of a parent takes the traffic after a price or image change.
  • Telling ad-driven sales from the rest, period by period (TACoS).

What the numbers mean

As Amazon defines them for this report (Selling Partner API: the Sales and Traffic report and its schema): - Sessions: visits to a product’s pages; all activity within 24 hours is one session. - Unit session percentage (conversion): units ordered ÷ sessions. It is worked out here from the two counts, so periods and ASINs add up correctly. - Featured offer (Buy Box) percentage: the share of page views where the Buy Box (the Add to Cart link) appeared for your product. Over several periods or ASINs it is weighted by page views; a report without that column shows no Buy Box share rather than 0%. - The totals are taken; the per-device and B2B columns of the report are left out.

Baselines and flags

  • The baseline of an ASIN is the periods before the latest (the last 4 by default). With one report, each ASIN is compared with your whole catalogue instead.
  • Conversion fell: at least 20% below the baseline, with at least 50 sessions.
  • Buy Box share fell: at least 10 points below the baseline, with at least 50 page views.
  • Traffic, no sales: at least 50 sessions and no unit ordered.
  • Revenue at risk = max(0, sessions × baseline conversion − units ordered) × the ASIN’s average price. A lost Buy Box shows in it too, since its sessions then convert less.
  • Parent and child: each child’s share of its parent’s sessions, now and in the baseline; a move of 10 points or more is listed.

Ads beside each period

A search term report’s spend, attributed sales and units are added up for the days inside each period (daily rows; a summary row that covers days on both sides of a period is left out and counted in the notes). TACoS = ad spend ÷ all ordered product sales. The units the ads did not bring are the units ordered less the ads’ attributed units: an estimate of organic sales, since attribution windows and order dates differ.

Limitations

  • MySmartCoPilot is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon.
  • One file is one period: Business Reports do not write their dates into the file, so they come from the file name or what you type.
  • Headings are matched by their usual words in several languages; a column the analyzer cannot place is chosen by hand under “Columns”.
  • A drop can have reasons outside the listing — stock, a price change, a sale elsewhere — so the flags are where to look, not what to conclude.
  • Revenue at risk is an estimate at the ASIN’s usual conversion and current price.

Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, Amazon Business Report Analyzer shows every count in full, with the first ASINs of each list (up to 10) and the trend charts under a watermark. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

Which report do I need?

Detail Page Sales and Traffic by Child Item, in Business Reports. The parent version adds the children up and hides which variation changed; the by-date reports have no ASINs.

Weekly or monthly?

Weekly reports show a drop sooner; monthly ones are steadier for products with few sessions. Use the same length for every period, so the baseline compares like with like.

Why is an ASIN without enough sessions never flagged?

With a few sessions one order more or less moves conversion a lot. The minimum (50 by default) keeps chance out of the flags; lower it for a small catalogue.
