Your post

Clears the words, pictures and link card; your name, handle, profile picture and settings stay.

Your profile picture optional
Pictures or a video cover up to 20, in carousel order
A video gives the still at its first second as the cover. Files stay on your device.
Each platform still applies its own limits: the checks under each mockup say how the picture is cut.

About the Social Media Post Preview & Mockups

Paste a draft, add your own pictures (or a video for its cover), your name and your profile picture, and see the post as a feed mockup of Instagram (feed, carousel and Reel cover), Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads, TikTok and Pinterest, on a phone or a desktop, in the light or the dark theme. Each mockup shows where its caption is cut with “… more”, how the feed crops the picture (1:1, 4:5, 1.91:1, 9:16 and the shapes in between) and the order of a carousel, and lists what to fix: characters over the limit, too many hashtags, too many pictures, a picture that will be cropped.

For link posts, type the link card’s address, title and picture by hand. Every mockup carries a “Draft preview” label and shows only your own name, picture and words — no platform logos, no verified badges, no counts of likes or views. Your files stay on your device.

    How to use it

    1. Write or paste the post text as you will post it: line breaks, emoji, hashtags and @mentions show as the apps show them.
    2. Add your name, handle and profile picture, and your pictures in carousel order (move them with the arrows), or a video, whose first second becomes the cover.
    3. Pick the platforms, Phone or Desktop, and Light or Dark, then read each mockup and its checks; change a mockup’s “More” cut if your app cuts the caption elsewhere.
    4. With a Pro pass, every chosen platform shows side by side, and you can download each mockup as a PNG, every PNG in one ZIP, or a one-page PDF review sheet to send for approval — or unlock this result; without one, the page shows a free preview of one platform at a time.

    Examples

    A 180-character caption on Instagram
    Input
A caption that tells the story first and ends with two hashtags
    Result
The feed mockup cuts it at the last word end before 125 characters and adds “… more”: the hook has to come first.
A 9:16 photo in the Instagram feed
    Input
    1080 × 1920 picture
    Result
Cropped to 3:4 in the feed (the tallest shape Instagram keeps); the same picture fills a Reel cover at 9:16.

    Common uses

    • Checking where the caption is cut before you post, so the hook is in the part people read.
    • Seeing a carousel’s order and the crop of its first picture, which every other item follows.
    • Sending a client or a manager a review sheet of the post on each platform.
    • Comparing the light and the dark theme, and a phone against a desktop.

Where each mockup cuts the caption

Platforms do not publish where their apps cut a caption on every screen, so each mockup uses the number the platform does publish, and you can change it:

    • Instagram feed: 125 characters, the length Meta recommends for Instagram feed text in its ads guide.
    • Facebook: 150 characters, the top of the 50–150 Meta recommends for Facebook feed text (ads guide).
    • LinkedIn: 150 characters — LinkedIn’s ad specs say up to 150 avoids truncation on some devices.
    • X: posts of up to 280 characters show in full; longer posts (X Premium) are long posts that open with their first part (X API). Characters are counted as X counts them: a link is 23, an emoji 2.
    • Threads: shown in full — posts have at most 500 characters (Threads API).
    • Pinterest: the first 40 characters of the Pin title, which is what may show in feeds; descriptions are not shown in the home or search feed (Pinterest).
    • Reel cover and TikTok: neither publishes a cut, so the mockup shows the lines that fit its caption area.

How each mockup crops a picture

    • Instagram feed: any shape from 1.91:1 to 3:4 is kept; other shapes are cropped to fit (Help Centre). A carousel holds up to 20 photos and videos, and the shape you choose applies to all of them (Help Centre).
    • Reel cover and TikTok: 9:16, the full phone screen; keep words and faces away from the bottom, where the caption and buttons sit.
    • X: a single photo between 2:1 and 3:4 shows in full; up to 4 photos per post (X Help); link cards are 2:1.
    • Pinterest: 2:3 is recommended, and Pins taller than 2:3 may be cut off in feeds.
    • Facebook, LinkedIn and Threads do not publish a crop for photos in posts, so the mockup shows them at their own shape (LinkedIn says images on phones are not cropped); link cards are 1.91:1.

    Limitations

    • MySmartCoPilot is not affiliated with or endorsed by Instagram, Facebook, Meta, LinkedIn, X or TikTok.
    • The mockups follow each platform’s general layout; they are not copies of the apps, and apps change their design and test new ones, so the real post can look a little different.
    • Fonts differ by device, so a line may wrap a word earlier or later than in your app.
    • The link card is typed by hand: the tool does not visit the page to read its preview.
    • Pictures your browser cannot open (HEIC outside Safari, for example) need converting first; a video is shown by one still, not played.
    • Saved drafts keep the words and settings, not the pictures.

    Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, Social Media Post Preview & Mockups shows one platform’s mockup at a time at preview size (up to 640 pixels), with a MySmartCoPilot watermark across it. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

Where does Instagram cut a caption with “… more”?

Instagram does not publish a number for its feed: it shows the first lines and then “… more”, and how much fits depends on the screen. The mockup uses 125 characters, the length Meta recommends for Instagram feed text, and you can change the cut under the mockup to match what you see in your app. Either way, put the hook in the first sentence.

Why is my picture cut in the Instagram mockup?

Instagram keeps any shape from 1.91:1 (landscape) to 3:4 (portrait) and crops other shapes to fit, so a 9:16 phone photo becomes 3:4 in the feed. The check under the mockup says when this happens. For a carousel, every item takes the shape of the first.

Can I send the mockups to a client for approval?

Yes: with a Pro pass, or after unlocking this result, download the PDF review sheet (every chosen platform on one page) or each mockup as a PNG. Each picture is marked “Draft preview”, so it is never mistaken for a real post.

    Are my pictures uploaded?

No. They are drawn in your browser and never leave your device; drafts saved in this browser keep only the words and settings.
