About the Cross-Post Formatter (Write Once, Adapt Everywhere)
Write a post once, with the light formatting you would use in a notes app (**bold**, *italic*, ~~strikethrough~~, a [link](https://…)), and get a version ready to paste on each platform you pick: X, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp and Discord. Each version is written in that platform’s way, with its hashtag rule applied and its limit counted the way it counts.
Bold and italic become Unicode letter styles where a platform has no formatting of its own (𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱 on LinkedIn, X and Instagram), WhatsApp’s markers on WhatsApp and Markdown on Discord, and hashtags, @mentions and links keep plain letters so they still work. Nothing is written by AI and nothing you type leaves your browser.
Without a pass, the free preview shows the first half of the versions you choose (up to 10) in full and the length check of every version; the other versions, Copy and the .txt file come with a Pro pass.
How to use it
- Write or paste your post. Use
**bold**,*italic*and~~strikethrough~~where you want them, a backtick on each side for code,[text](https://…)for a link and#at the start of a line for a heading line. - Tick the platforms you post on.
- Choose how bold and italic look on platforms without formatting (Unicode letters or plain words), where the hashtags go (in place, at the end or in a first comment) and whether to follow each platform’s hashtag rule.
- Leave Shorten to fit on to cut a version that is too long at the end of a sentence, and set how many opening characters to check before a “… more” cut.
- Copy each version, or use Copy all or Download .txt (with a pass, or after unlocking these versions).
Examples
**Big news:** our app is live! #launch
LinkedIn: 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀: our app is live! #launch WhatsApp: *Big news:* our app is live! #launch Discord: **Big news:** our app is live! #launch
The # tag keeps plain letters on every platform, so it still works as a hashtag.
Sunday reading ☕ #books #reading #coffee #weekend #booklover #bookstagram
Instagram: the first 5 hashtags (Instagram allows 5) Threads: #books only (one topic tag per post) X: #books #reading (X recommends 2)
New recipe on the blog today 🍝 #pasta #dinner
Post: New recipe on the blog today 🍝 First comment: #pasta #dinner
Common uses
- Announcing a launch, an event or a sale on several platforms at once.
- Posting the same update on LinkedIn with bold headings and on WhatsApp with its own markers.
- Keeping Instagram to 5 hashtags and Threads to its one topic tag without rewriting the post.
- Checking that a long post fits X’s 280 or Bluesky’s 300 before it goes out.
What changes for each platform
- Bold, italic and code: Unicode letters from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block (Unicode code chart U+1D400–U+1D7FF) on X, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok;
*bold*,_italic_,~strikethrough~and a backtick on each side for code on WhatsApp (How to format your messages); Markdown on Discord (Markdown Text 101). WhatsApp formats whole words only, so a style inside a word is left plain there, and the version says so. - Hashtags: Instagram allows 5 on a post (Use hashtags on Instagram), Threads takes one topic tag (Threads API — Posts) and X recommends no more than 2 (How to use hashtags). The first ones you wrote are kept; a hashtag left out inside a sentence keeps its word. Instagram’s help centre also says a comment will not post if the post would then have more than 5, so a first comment counts towards the 5.
- Links on Instagram: the Instagram version lists the links in its caption, and can swap them for “link in bio” or take them out.
- Length: counted the platform’s way, from the same sourced list as Social Media Character Limits: X weighs links as 23, Threads counts emoji as their UTF-8 size, Bluesky counts links as its app shortens them.
Unicode letters and screen readers
Styled letters such as 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱 are separate characters, not formatting. Some screen readers read them letter by letter or skip them, and search may not find the styled words. Keep them for a few words of emphasis, or choose Plain words to leave them out. The Unicode Standard intends these letters for mathematics.
Shortening and the “… more” cut
A version longer than its limit is shortened at the end of the last sentence that fits, with the hashtags kept, and it says how much was left out; for X, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon you can split the whole text into a thread with the Thread Splitter instead. Platforms fold long posts behind “… more” after a few lines, at a length that depends on the app and the screen and that they do not publish: set the number of opening characters you want to check, and each version shows them.
Limitations
- The platforms’ apps can change how they count; leave a few characters spare on a version that is right at its limit.
- Facebook and WhatsApp publish no post limit for what you type, so their versions show the length without a check.
- Tables and nested lists are kept as typed text: none of these platforms shows them in a post.
- Posting is up to you: the page never connects to your accounts.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Cross-Post Formatter (Write Once, Adapt Everywhere) shows the first versions you choose (half of them, up to 10) in full, with every version’s length check. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
How do I make bold text on LinkedIn or X?
Write **words** in your post and pick LinkedIn or X: the version uses Unicode bold letters (𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱), which show as bold on most phones and computers because they are characters, not formatting. The LinkedIn Text Formatter styles text letter by letter.
Why are my hashtags not styled?
A hashtag written in Unicode letters is no longer the same tag, so search and the tag page would not find it. Hashtags, @mentions, links and e-mail addresses always keep plain letters.
Can I put the hashtags in the first comment?
Yes: choose First comment and each version shows the comment with the hashtags to post under it. On Instagram the comment still counts towards the 5 hashtags of the post.
Is anything written by AI?
No. Every change follows a fixed rule, listed under the version it applies to, so the same post always gives the same versions.
Is my post uploaded?
No. Everything is done in your browser, and the page works offline once it has loaded.
