About the Video Stabilizer (Fix Shaky Videos in Your Browser)
Choose a shaky clip from your phone and the page measures how the camera moved, frame by frame, then plays it back steady: a before | after view shows the difference while you choose how strongly to smooth it. Slow pans and walks are kept — only the jitter on top is taken out — or Tripod holds the view still, as if the camera had been on a stand. Correcting a frame moves its edges, so the picture is enlarged just enough that no frame shows an empty corner; the page tells you how much that is before anything is made, or fills the edges with a blurred copy instead. The sound is copied as it is.
Everything runs in your browser on your own device; the video is never uploaded. The method is classic motion tracking — no AI model and nothing downloaded beyond the page itself.
The free preview on this page is the first half of the stabilised video (up to 10 seconds), with a MySmartCoPilot watermark. With a Pro pass, or after unlocking this one video, you get the whole stabilised video.
How to use it
- Choose or drop a video (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM…): up to 3 minutes on a computer, 1 minute on a phone. The page starts measuring the camera’s movement at once and shows how far it has got.
- Watch the Before | after view (drag the divider) or switch to Stabilised. Choose Smooth and a strength, or Tripod for a shot that should not move at all.
- Check the zoom the corrections need. To crop less, lower the strength, or choose Fill them with a blurred copy; to correct strong shakes in full, raise the Zoom limit.
- Press Stabilise the video. Without a pass the result is the free preview — the first half, up to 10 seconds, with a watermark — and Ways to unlock shows how to get the whole video; with a Pro pass, or once it is unlocked, Download, Save to a file or Share gives the full MP4.
Examples
1080 × 1920 · 25 s · Smooth, strength 5 · Zoom limit 1.20×
A 1080 × 1920 H.264 MP4 of the same length: the step-by-step bounce is gone, the turn at the corner is kept, the picture is enlarged about 6 % (the page says so before you start), and the sound is copied unchanged.
A 12-second clip of a stage, held by hand · Tripod
The view stays where the first frame was: drift and jitter are both removed, at the cost of a larger zoom the longer the hand drifted; with “Fill them with a blurred copy” nothing is cropped and the moving border is a blurred continuation of the picture.
How it works
- Measuring the movement. The frames are read small (512 pixels on the longest side, about 30 a second) and corners that are easy to follow are picked in each frame (the smaller eigenvalue of the image gradients, the Shi–Tomasi test). They are followed into the next frame with the pyramidal Kanade–Lucas–Tomasi tracker, from a coarse copy of the picture to the full detail, and each one is tracked back again: points that do not return to where they started are dropped.
- Ignoring what moves by itself. People, cars and waves move on their own. RANSAC tries the camera movements implied by pairs of points and keeps the one most of the points agree with — a shift, a turn and a slight change of scale — so the background decides.
- Smoothing. The camera’s path is added up from frame to frame and smoothed with a Gaussian window whose width the strength sets (from about a sixth of a second to about four seconds): quick jitter disappears, slow intended moves stay. Tripod replaces the path with the first frame’s view.
- Correcting and cropping. Each frame is shifted, turned and scaled by the difference between the smooth path and the real one, then everything is enlarged by the largest zoom any frame needs, up to the zoom limit. Frames that would need more are only partly corrected, eased in and out so nothing jumps, and the page says how many.
- Making the file. The browser’s own video encoder writes H.264 in an MP4 at the original frame rate and size (up to 4K on a computer, 1080p on a phone). The sound is copied without re-encoding where MP4 can hold it.
Choosing the settings
- Strength 3–6 suits walking, handheld interviews and phone footage from a moving vehicle. Higher values also take out slow sways, but need more zoom.
- Tripod suits a still subject: a stage, a speaker, a view. On a long clip the hand drifts, and the zoom grows with the drift: if the page warns about partly corrected frames, use Smooth.
- Fill them with a blurred copy keeps the whole picture (nothing is cropped); the edges then show a blurred, moving border during strong shakes.
- Turn off Correct the camera’s tilt and turn too if a deliberate tilt (a horizon you swung on purpose) should stay.
Limitations
- Stabilising crops the edges of the picture: the percentage is shown before you start. It cannot remove the motion blur inside a frame, the wobble of fast pans, or the “jello” of rolling-shutter phone cameras (not corrected here).
- Scenes with little detail (a wall, fog, darkness) or mostly moving content (a crowd, water) give few points to track; such frames are left as they are, and the page says how many.
- Up to 3 minutes and 4K on a computer, 1 minute and 1080p on a phone — cut longer videos into parts with the Video Trimmer first. Long or 4K clips take a while on phones.
- The video is re-encoded once, so the file size and the fine detail can change a little; choose Very high quality to keep more of it.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Video Stabilizer (Fix Shaky Videos in Your Browser) shows the first half of the stabilised video (up to 10 seconds) at the settings you chose, with a MySmartCoPilot watermark. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded, shared or saved to your device. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is read, measured and re-encoded in your browser on your device, and nothing about it is sent anywhere.
Is this AI?
No. It is classic computer vision — corner tracking, outlier rejection and smoothing, the methods behind classic video stabilisers — so no AI model is downloaded and the result is the same every time for the same video and settings.
How much of the picture is lost?
Only as much as the strongest correction needs, never more than the zoom limit you choose (1.20× by default, which crops at most about 17 % of the width and height); the page shows the exact figure before you stabilise. “Fill them with a blurred copy” crops nothing.
Will my pan or zoom be removed?
With Smooth, slow deliberate moves stay and only the shake on top is removed; raise or lower the strength to set where that line is. Tripod removes all movement.
What does the free preview include?
Without a pass the page stabilises the first half of your video, up to 10 seconds, at the settings you chose, with a MySmartCoPilot watermark, and plays it here; the before | after view on the page also carries the watermark. Downloading, saving and sharing the whole video need a Pro pass, or an unlock of this one video, which makes the full video from the file still on the page.
