About the Video Watermark

Put a logo (a PNG, WebP, SVG or JPEG — with a transparent background it looks cleanest) or styled text on a video. Choose which corner it sits in, how big it is as a share of the shorter side, how transparent it is, whether a logo tiles across the whole frame, and the time range when it is shown.

The overlay is drawn on every frame by this browser’s video encoder, so it stays with the picture wherever the file is uploaded or shared. The sound is copied without re-encoding.

Everything happens on your device: the logo, the video and the result never leave your browser.

How to use it

  1. Drop a video on the box or click Choose a video.
  2. Pick Logo and choose your image, or Text and type the caption. Set the corner, size, opacity, margin and (for a logo) tiling.
  3. Set the time range if the watermark should appear for only part of the video — otherwise it is on from start to end.
  4. Press Add the watermark and Download the file.

Examples

A small logo in the bottom-right corner
Input
1920 × 1080 MP4, 2:00 · logo.png with transparency · 20% of the shorter side · 90% opacity · bottom right · 3% margin
Result
1920 × 1080 MP4, 2:00 — the logo in the bottom-right corner of every frame, sound copied
A copyright line at the bottom
Input
1080 × 1920 clip · Text “© Shop · mysmartcopilot.com” · bottom centre · white with a 1-pixel black outline
Result
The same clip with the line of text pinned to the bottom of every frame
A tiled watermark across the whole frame
Input
Preview clip · logo.svg at 15% · Tile · 25% spacing · from 0:00 to the end
Result
A grid of soft logos covering the picture, hard to crop out

Where the watermark lands

The overlay keeps the picture’s shape: nothing is stretched. Its size is a percentage of the shorter side of the picture, so a 20% logo is the same visual size on a 1080p vertical clip and a 4K landscape clip. The margin keeps it off the very edge; most platforms crop the first few pixels on upload.

Text wraps on spaces when it would otherwise run off the side, so a long caption uses several lines.

Which logo files work

PNG with a transparent background is the usual choice — the transparent parts stay transparent on the video. WebP and SVG also keep transparency. JPEG has no transparency, so the whole rectangle is drawn on the picture. Smaller logo files draw faster; a 2 MB logo makes the browser slower on long clips.

Why the sound is untouched

The watermark changes the picture only, so the sound is copied packet for packet. The file keeps the same codec, channel count and bitrate it had, which is why there is no sound-quality setting here.

Limitations

  • Needs WebCodecs (current Chrome, Edge, Safari or desktop Firefox) and a decoder for the video’s codec; HEVC needs a hardware decoder in the browser.
  • The overlay is drawn on every frame — the picture is always re-encoded, which takes longer than a copy.
  • No motion-tracked watermark: the overlay stays in its corner, it does not follow a subject.
  • A tiled watermark starts in the top-left and ends at the picture; it is not centred as a pattern.
  • HDR video is converted to standard dynamic range when re-encoded, and subtitle tracks and chapters are not carried over.
  • Only the main video track is kept; extra video tracks are left out.

Frequently asked questions

Does the watermark get added to every frame?

Yes. Every frame is decoded, the overlay is drawn on it, and the result is encoded again. That is why the file is new — the picture now contains the watermark.

Will the watermark stay when I upload the video?

Yes. It is part of the picture, so it survives re-encoding on upload. Platforms sometimes crop a few pixels from the edges, so keep a 3–5% margin and the mark stays on screen.

What size should my logo be?

A PNG that is 400–600 pixels on its long side is enough: the tool scales it to the picture size, so a bigger PNG only takes more memory.

Can I turn the watermark on only for a part of the video?

Yes — set the time range to the seconds when it should show. Outside that, the picture is untouched.

Does the file get much bigger?

Not noticeably: a watermark that fills a tiny part of the frame makes almost no difference. Re-encoding at the chosen quality keeps the file size close to the original.

Is my video or logo uploaded?

No. Both are read on your device, drawn in your browser, and the result is saved to your device.
