About the Business Card Maker (Print-Ready PDF)
Make two-sided business cards in the standard sizes — US and Canada 3.5 × 2 in, 85 × 55 mm, 90 × 54 mm, Japan’s 91 × 55 mm and the credit-card size of ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 (85.6 × 53.98 mm) — in landscape or portrait. Pick a template, type your details, add your logo and a QR code (your website, a contact card that phones can save, or any text) and choose the colours and font.
Download a print-ready PDF for a print shop: front and back on separate pages with 3 mm or 0.125 in of bleed, crop marks and the trim box set, and the fonts embedded. Or download a sheet for home printing — 10 cards on A4 or US Letter when the size allows, with cut marks and the backs placed for double-sided printing. Everything is made in your browser.
How to use it
- Choose the card size, orientation, template and font.
- Type your details — name, job title, company, phone, e-mail, website, address and a tagline for the back.
- Add a logo (PNG or SVG with a transparent background works best) and choose a QR code: a contact card (vCard), your website or your own text, on the front or the back.
- Pick the colours. Turn on Guides to see the trim line and the 3.5 mm safe area, and fix any warnings.
- For a print shop, choose the bleed they ask for and download the print-ready PDF. To print at home, choose A4 or Letter and download the sheet PDF, then print at 100% and cut along the marks.

Phone cameras offer to save it as a contact. The more details, the denser the code — the tool warns when its squares get too small to scan easily.
Common uses
- New business cards for a freelancer, a shop or a small team.
- Print-shop files with bleed and crop marks, without design software.
- A quick batch of cards printed on a home printer for an event.
- Cards with a QR code that saves your contact details in one scan.
Bleed, trim and the safe area
Printers cut cards from larger sheets, and the cut can move by a fraction of a millimetre. Bleed is extra background beyond the edge (3 mm, or 0.125 in for US sizes) so no white edge shows; the tool extends every background into it. The trim line is the finished size. Keep text and logos inside the safe area, 3.5 mm inside the trim — the tool warns when something reaches past it. The print-ready PDF sets the PDF’s TrimBox and BleedBox, which print shops’ software reads, and can add crop marks outside the bleed.
RGB colours, CMYK printers
Screens and this PDF use RGB colours. Commercial printers print in CMYK and convert the file; bright blues, greens and oranges can come out duller. Some print shops ask for CMYK files only — check with yours. For small text, aim for a contrast of at least 4.5:1 with its background (the WCAG guideline for small text on screens); the tool warns below that.
Fonts and languages
The PDF embeds the font you choose (Inter, Montserrat, Poppins or Noto Sans, all under the SIL Open Font License) for text in the Latin alphabet — Vietnamese included — and in Greek and Cyrillic, so the print shop needs nothing else. Letters the chosen font does not have (Greek, Cyrillic and Vietnamese in Poppins, Greek in Montserrat) come from Noto Sans, and only the parts of the fonts your text uses are embedded. Lines in scripts that need complex shaping — Devanagari (Hindi, Marathi), Bengali, Tamil, Arabic, Chinese and others — and lines with emoji are drawn by your browser and placed in the PDF as 600 DPI images, so they print correctly too (Poppins and Noto Sans have Devanagari letters).
Limitations
- Colours are RGB; the tool cannot make CMYK or spot-colour (Pantone) files.
- Templates place text automatically; you cannot drag elements freely. For free layouts use the Graphic Design Editor.
- A sheet holds 10 cards when the size fits the paper (for example 85 × 55 mm on A4); 55 mm cards on US Letter fit 8.
- Home printers often shift the back side by a millimetre or two. Print one sheet on plain paper first, or leave a margin around backgrounds.

Frequently asked questions
What size is a standard business card?
In the US and Canada 3.5 × 2 in (88.9 × 50.8 mm); in much of Europe 85 × 55 mm; in Japan 91 × 55 mm; and 90 × 54 mm in China. The credit-card size (85.6 × 53.98 mm, ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1) suits cards that go into a wallet slot.
Should I include crop marks?
Ask your print shop. Many online printers want only the card with bleed (no marks); local printers often like crop marks. The print-ready PDF has both options, and always sets the trim box.
How do I print the sheet double-sided?
Print page 1 (the fronts), then the backs on the other side with the printer set to flip on the long edge — or print one page, turn the sheet over and print the other. Print at 100% / Actual size, then cut along the marks with a ruler and craft knife or a paper trimmer.
Can phones read the QR code?
Yes, when its squares are large enough. A website link makes a simple code; a full contact card makes a denser one, so put it on the back where the code is bigger. The tool warns when the squares are smaller than 0.3 mm.
Are my details uploaded?
No. Everything is drawn and the PDF is built in your browser. Only the font files are downloaded, from this site.
