Can I mix cash, cheques, transfers, gold and items?
Yes. Retain the actual gift type, giver, function, reference and entered amount or weight. Gold and items without an entered valuation stay unvalued; the tool does not invent a price.
Are gifts in different currencies added together?
No. Event and family-side totals keep each entered currency separate. Returned amounts reduce only the corresponding currency total; no exchange rate or conversion is supplied.
How are thank-you notes, returns and family reciprocity recorded?
Keep the sent tick and date, return or exchange state, returned amount, full notes and the later family/function context on each gift. The lookup searches retained giver, family and function details.
What happens if another guest book uses the same guest IDs?
An incompatible identity collision is refused. Use an explicit new-book identity prefix to keep both sets of people and their original records; existing gift links are retained. Compatible refreshes retain the complete earlier imported book, including private notes and unknown fields. Keep an external encrypted backup and your own passphrase.
