Safety guidance stays readable

Test smoke alarms monthly, including sealed and hardwired models, using the manufacturer instructions. Replaceable and hardwired backup batteries follow their yearly or manufacturer schedule; sealed long-life batteries are not replaced. Smoke-alarm age comes from manufacture, not installation. CO replacement life is manufacturer-specific. Unsafe gas, electrical, pressure, roof or combustion work needs a qualified professional.

About the Home Maintenance Planner & Checklist

Choose the systems actually present in your home: AC, heating, geyser/water heater, purifier, solar, inverter, smoke/CO alarms, gutters, roof, pest prevention and appliances. Adjust every suggested interval to the actual equipment, local climate and manufacturer instructions. Record actual service dates, providers, costs and notes; generated monthly/seasonal reminders and the yearly checklist have a separate result preview.

How to use it

  1. Choose the actual systems, climate, hemisphere and checklist year, then retain their editable rules.
  2. Confirm manufacturer intervals and local conditions; enter your own planned cost for each occurrence or add complete custom equipment rules.
  3. Record smoke manufacture date and actual CO manufacturer expiry instead of guessing installation age or a universal replacement life.
  4. Generate the yearly plan, retain actual service history, export reminders or print a PDF. Save the complete owner inputs encrypted and keep an external backup.

Official safety items

USFA smoke-alarm guidance calls for monthly testing and distinguishes replaceable, hardwired-backup and sealed batteries. USFA home-fire guidance covers professional pre-winter heating/chimney inspection and CO testing. Sealed batteries never receive a battery-replacement task.

Editable equipment intervals

EPA air-cleaner guidance describes manufacturer-dependent filter care, with typical intervals and earlier changes when heavily soiled. Other system intervals are labelled editable planning suggestions, not universal safe-service deadlines. Costs are your entries, not invented local quotes.

History and calendar

A retained service entry records the actual date, cost, provider and complete owner notes. A tick means a service was recorded; it is not inspection certification. Calendar reminders use civil dates and include every planned occurrence without a row cap.

Limitations

  • This planner does not certify equipment safety, drinking-water quality, structural soundness, alarm compliance or professional servicing.
  • Manufacturer/model instructions and local conditions override editable planning suggestions.
  • Do not perform unsafe gas, electrical, pressure, roof or combustion work from a checklist; arrange a qualified service.

Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, Home Maintenance Planner & Checklist shows initial generated report rows; full generated reports and exports require a pass; complete original inputs and public safety guidance stay available. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

Will a sealed smoke alarm get an annual battery task?

No. Monthly testing remains, but sealed long-life alarms follow whole-unit manufacturer replacement instructions. Replaceable batteries and hardwired backups have separate guidance.

Are the default appliance and roof intervals official universal requirements?

No. They are editable planning suggestions. Confirm the actual manufacturer, installation, climate and local rules before using them.

Do service ticks prove that an inspection passed?

No. They retain your actual service record and evidence notes. Only the responsible professional and applicable authority can establish inspection or compliance.
