This register is locked
It is encrypted in this browser. Type its passcode to open it on this device.
Forgot the passcode?
Nobody can open the register without it — not this site either, because the passcode never leaves this device. If you have an encrypted backup, delete this copy and restore the backup with its own passphrase. Otherwise you can only delete it and start again.

Items
The labels file lists the items shown above with their codes, barcodes and prices. In the Label Sheet Maker, choose the “Stock labels with a Code 128 barcode” design and open the file: it prints each item’s name and SKU as a barcode. The Barcode and Price columns are there for a design of your own.

Stock and its value
Value by category and by location
The FIFO layers file is what the Inventory Ageing report reads: each lot still on hand with the day it came in and its cost.
Item ledger
Movement summary
Opening stock, what came in and went out, and the closing stock of every item in the period, all locations together.
The register
Locations
Shop floor, store room, warehouse, van or branch: stock is kept, moved and counted per location.
Items from POS Billing
If you sell with the POS Billing tool in this browser, its item list (names, codes, barcodes, units, prices and low-stock levels) can be copied in here. Items with the same code are updated; stock counts are not copied, because opening stock needs a cost. The same CSV item file also works in both tools.
Where your register is kept
In this browser on this device only (IndexedDB). It is not uploaded or copied anywhere, so clearing this browser’s site data deletes it: download an encrypted backup regularly and keep it somewhere safe.
Encrypted backup
One file with the whole register, encrypted on this device with a passphrase you choose (AES-256). Keep the file somewhere safe and the passphrase too: without it the file cannot be opened. Backups always download, also without a pass.
Restore a backup
Restoring replaces the register on this device with the one in the file. A passcode set on this device stays.
Passcode lock
Export
Your register is yours: these files always download, also without a pass. CSV files open in Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice; the JSON file is the whole register, not encrypted.
Import
Bring item records in from a spreadsheet saved as CSV: the first row names the columns (download a template to see which). Rows with a problem are listed and left out. A JSON file exported from this register adds its records to this one.
Delete the register
Removes every item record and the passcode from this browser. Download a backup first if you may need them.

About the Stock Register & Inventory Tracker (Barcodes)
A stock register for a shop, a store room or a small warehouse. Keep your items with their code (SKU), barcodes, unit, usual location, low-stock level and cost, and record every movement: stock in (opening stock, purchases, customer returns, count gains), stock out (sales, items used or issued, damaged or expired goods, returns to the supplier, count losses) and transfers between locations. Scan items with the phone's camera or a USB barcode scanner — each scan adds one — or pick them by name.
From those entries the register works out the stock on hand at every location, the low-stock and out-of-stock list, the value of the stock under either cost formula IAS 2 and Ind AS 2 allow — first in, first out (FIFO) or the weighted average — an item ledger with opening and closing balances, and a movement summary for any period. The register is kept in this browser on your device, with an optional passcode and encrypted backups; its item list uses the same columns as POS Billing, and barcode labels print through the Label Sheet Maker.
Without a pass the reports stay a free preview: their counts and first rows are on screen with the quantities and values hidden, and the workbook, PDF and CSV files unlock with a Premium pass. Your entries, imports and backups are never locked.
How to use it
- Add your locations under Settings (shop floor, store room, warehouse) and your items under Items — one by one, scanning each barcode, from a spreadsheet (Data & backup → Import → Items), or copied from POS Billing in this browser.
- Record the opening stock: import a list of items with their quantities and unit costs (Import → Opening stock), or make an Opening stock entry for each location.
- Day by day, open Stock in & out, choose Stock in, Stock out or Transfer and the reason, then scan each item (every scan adds one) or type its name or code, set the quantities and save. An entry that would take a location below zero is flagged before it is saved.
- Open Stock & reports for the stock on hand by location, the low and out-of-stock list, the value at FIFO or average cost, any item’s ledger and the movement summary for a period.
- Back up the register from Data & backup as an encrypted file, at any time and also without a pass. The stock workbook, the PDF report and the CSV files of the reports unlock with a Premium pass; without one the reports are a free preview.
Examples
Opening 10 at 5 · buy 20 at 6 · sell 15 · buy 10 at 7 · sell 20
The first sale costs 10 × 5 + 5 × 6 = 80, the second 15 × 6 + 5 × 7 = 125; the 5 left are valued at 7 = 35.
The same moves, valued at the weighted average
Average 5.667 after the first purchase and 6.20 after the second; the sales cost 85 and 124; the 5 left are valued at 31.
Store room: 10 at 5 (older) and 10 at 8 · move 12 to the shop
Under FIFO the shop gets the oldest 10 at 5 and 2 at 8 (value 66) with their own receipt dates; the store room keeps 8 at 8 (64).
5 on hand at 10 · sell 8 · then buy 10 at 12
The sale is flagged before saving. If it is saved, the 3 short are valued at the last cost, 10; the purchase covers them first and the difference of 3 × 2 = 6 shows as a revaluation, so opening + in − out ± revaluation still equals closing.
Common uses
- A shop or chemist keeping the stock of the shelf and the back store, with a list of what to reorder each morning.
- A small warehouse or distributor recording purchases, dispatches and transfers between godowns, valued at FIFO for the books.
- An office, school, hostel or site store issuing consumables to departments and writing off damaged items.
- Starting a register from an existing stock list, then keeping it current by scanning barcodes at the counter.
FIFO or weighted average
Both are cost formulas that IAS 2 — and Ind AS 2, India's version of it — allow for goods that are interchangeable: first in, first out assumes the items bought first are sold first, so what is left is valued at the latest costs; the weighted average values every item at the average cost of the stock, worked out again here as each receipt comes in. Choose the one your accounts use and keep to it; switching the setting works every report out again from the same entries, and your entries do not change.
The standard measures inventories at the lower of cost and net realisable value. The register shows cost: damaged, obsolete or slow-selling stock that is worth less than it cost is a write-down to agree with your accountant (the Inventory Valuation Calculator compares the formulas on one item).
Scanning barcodes
- The camera: press Camera on Stock in & out, hold each barcode in the frame, and each read adds one of that item to the entry. The browser’s own barcode reader is used where it has one, otherwise a decoder that runs on this device; the picture never leaves it.
- A USB or Bluetooth scanner types the code into the scan box and presses Enter, so it works with nothing to set up.
- A code is matched against every item’s barcodes and then its own code (SKU), so items without a printed barcode can carry a code label of your own. An unknown code is reported, and the item can be added with that barcode scanned straight into it.
Locations and transfers
Stock is kept per location: the shop floor, a store room, a warehouse, a van. A transfer takes stock out of one location and into another at its cost — under FIFO with each lot’s own receipt date and cost — so the value does not change and the ageing of the stock stays right. The low-stock level is for all locations together, and the stock report can show one location or all of them.
With POS Billing, labels and the stock-ageing report
- POS Billing: the item file of either tool imports into the other, because both read the same column names (Name, Price, Barcode, Code, Unit, HSN, Low stock at, Category). In the same browser, Settings → Items from POS Billing copies its item list in directly; stock counts are not copied, because opening stock needs a cost.
- Labels: Items → Labels for the Label Sheet Maker writes a file with each item’s name, code, barcode and price; open it in the Label Sheet Maker with its “Stock labels with a Code 128 barcode” design to print each item’s name and SKU as a barcode label on A4 sheets or a label printer; the Barcode and Price columns are there for a design of your own.
- Ageing: the FIFO layers file (each lot still on hand, the day it came in and its cost) is what the Inventory Ageing report reads to age and value the stock.
Where your register is kept
In this browser on this device (its IndexedDB storage), never on a server. An optional passcode stores it encrypted (AES-256) and locks it when you step away. Clearing this browser’s site data deletes it, so download an encrypted backup regularly: a reminder shows while changes are not backed up, and a backup restores the whole register on another device or browser.
Limitations
- One register per browser: to use it on another device, restore a backup there. Two people entering on different devices at the same time do not see each other’s entries.
- Stock is valued at cost. Write-downs to net realisable value (damaged, obsolete or below-cost stock) are for you and your accountant to decide.
- Batches, serial numbers and expiry dates are not tracked lot by lot.
- It does not connect to accounting software or marketplaces: items and moves come in and go out as CSV files.
- Quantities are kept to six decimal places and shown to three; amounts are shown at the currency’s usual decimals.
Privacy
Your items, locations and stock moves stay in this browser on this device; nothing you enter or import is uploaded. Scanning uses the camera on the device only. Files leave the page only when you download them yourself.
Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Stock Register & Inventory Tracker (Barcodes) shows your entries, items, scanning and backups in full; each report’s counts and first rows (up to 10) with stock quantities and values hidden. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
What does the free preview show?
Everything you enter works in full: items, locations, stock in and out, transfers, scanning, imports and encrypted backups, and your own item and move lists download as CSV at any time. The reports — stock on hand, the low-stock list, the valuation, item ledgers and the movement summary — show their counts and the first rows (up to 10) with every computed quantity and value hidden; the stock workbook, PDF report, CSV reports and the copied summary unlock with a Premium pass.
FIFO or weighted average — which should I choose?
The one your accounts use. FIFO values what is left at the latest costs and suits goods that are sold or used in the order they came in; the weighted average spreads every price change over the whole stock. Both are allowed by IAS 2 and Ind AS 2 for interchangeable goods; what matters is to keep to one. Changing the setting works every report out again from the same entries.
Can I scan barcodes with my phone?
Yes. Open the page on the phone, press Camera on Stock in & out and hold each barcode in the frame: each read adds one of that item. The camera picture is read on the phone and never leaves it. A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner works too: it types into the scan box.
How do I start from the stock I already have?
Save your current stock list as CSV with a code or name, the quantity and the unit cost (and the location if you have several), and import it under Data & backup → Import → Opening stock. Items that do not exist yet are created from the list. From then on, record purchases and sales as they happen.
What happens if stock goes below zero?
The entry is flagged before you save it, because more is going out than the register says is there — usually a purchase or the opening stock was not entered. If you save it anyway, the shortfall is valued at the last cost until stock comes in, the difference between the two costs shows as a revaluation, and the item is listed under the checks until it is put right.
Can I lose my register?
It is kept in this browser only, so clearing the browser’s site data, or losing the device, deletes it. Download an encrypted backup from Data & backup regularly (the page reminds you) and keep it with its passphrase; it restores the whole register here or on another device.
