About the Marketplace Return & RTO Claim Tracker for Indian Sellers
Returns and RTOs that never come back, or come back damaged, used or as the wrong product, are money a seller can recover — but only with a claim raised in time and the right evidence. This tracker reads the returns / RTO report you download from Meesho, Flipkart or Amazon.in (and optionally the payments file and the order report), lists every return, tells which are overdue, on the way, back and still to check, or claimed but not credited, and works out each claim deadline from the claim windows you enter for each marketplace.
For every return you note what you found on opening it — good, damaged, wrong item, missing item or empty box, used, or not received — and the claim’s status and ticket number. The page lists the evidence to keep ready and, with a Premium pass, writes the text of the claim for you to paste and exports a claim worksheet as CSV or PDF with a due this week view. What you record is kept in this browser; your files are never uploaded.
How to use it
- From your seller panel, get the returns / RTO report (and, if you can, the payments file and the order report of the same months) and drop them into step 1. Check the columns of each sheet once.
- In step 2, enter each marketplace’s claim windows from its current claim policy in your seller panel: how many days after a return reaches you a damaged or wrong return can be claimed, when a return that has not come back counts as overdue, and how long after that you can claim it.
- Open each parcel that comes back on video, then record what you found under Your check. Overdue returns start as “Not received”.
- Work through Due this week and To claim: copy the claim text (with a Premium pass or once this result is unlocked), raise the claim with the evidence listed, and note the ticket number and the status.
- With a Premium pass, or once this result is unlocked, download the claim worksheet (CSV or PDF) for your records. Next time, add the new reports: what you recorded is still here, and claims credited in the payments file are marked credited.
Examples
Customer return created 15 Aug, expected back 25 Aug, still “In Transit” on 10 Sep · window: claim within 30 days after it was due back
Overdue, not back · Your check: Not received · Claim by 24 Sep (in 14 days) · Evidence: AWB tracking status, proof of dispatch, order invoice
Return back on 3 Sep, you mark it Damaged · window: claim within 2 days of receiving it
Claim deadline 5 Sep: on 10 Sep it is five days past, and it is listed first under Due this week
Claim raised with ticket T-77; next month’s payments file has a compensation credit of ₹349 for the order
Status changes to Credited: ₹349, and the return leaves “Claimed, not credited”
Common uses
- A daily look at returns arriving: what to open on video and what to claim.
- Month-end follow-up of RTOs that never came back.
- Proving to an accountant what was claimed, approved and credited.
Why you enter the claim windows
Each marketplace sets its own deadlines for claims on returns and RTOs in its supplier or seller policy, and changes them from time to time; the current ones are in your seller panel, behind your login. So no deadline is built in: you enter each marketplace’s windows once, they are kept in this browser, and every deadline is worked out from them and from the dates in your report. Without a window the page still shows where each return is and says which windows are missing.
How each return is sorted
- Overdue, not back: not received after its expected date, or after your number of days from the day it was created when the report gives no expected date.
- On the way back: in transit and not yet overdue.
- To check on arrival: back with you, and you have not recorded what you found.
- To claim: damaged, wrong, missing, used or not received, with no claim raised yet.
- Claimed, not credited: claim raised or approved, and no compensation for that order in the payments file you added.
RTOs (the courier brought the parcel back) and customer returns are told apart from the report’s return type, status and reason.
Evidence
For each issue the page lists what claim forms usually ask for — an unboxing video from the sealed parcel, photos of the product, its tags and the packaging, the return label (AWB), the parcel’s weight, and for returns that never came back the tracking status and proof of dispatch. Record the unboxing video for every return when you open it: it cannot be made later. The marketplace’s own claim form decides what it needs.
Limitations
- It reads your downloaded reports; it cannot see your seller panel, fetch reports or raise claims for you.
- Deadlines are only as right as the windows you enter and the dates in the report.
- A claim credited is recognised from compensation or claim amounts in the payments file of the same order; a claim settled in another way is marked by you.
- Presets match the columns of the reports as sellers download them; marketplaces rename columns from time to time, so check the column matches.
- This is a working list, not legal advice: the marketplace’s policies decide what can be claimed.
Privacy
Your reports are read in your browser and never uploaded. Your claim windows and what you record for each return (your check, status, ticket number and note, by order id) are kept in this browser’s storage until you remove them.
Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Marketplace Return & RTO Claim Tracker for Indian Sellers shows the counts of every return by status, with the first rows of the claim list (up to 10; a single return with its results hidden). Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
What is the difference between an RTO and a customer return?
An RTO (return to origin) is a parcel the courier could not deliver and brings back — a refused COD order, a wrong address. A customer return was delivered and sent back by the buyer. Both can be lost on the way or come back damaged, and both are listed here.
Why does the page not know the claim deadlines itself?
They are each marketplace’s policy and change over time; the current ones are in your seller panel. Enter them once and the tracker works out every deadline from them.
Does it raise the claim for me?
No. It tells you what to claim and when, lists the evidence and writes the claim text; you raise the claim in your seller panel and note the ticket number here.
Where is what I record kept?
In this browser only, with the order ids of your returns. Another browser or device starts empty; clearing the site’s data removes it.
Can I use it with Marketplace Payment Reconciliation?
Yes — they read the same files. Marketplace Payment Reconciliation shows what returns cost you and what was paid; this tracker follows each return to its claim.
