Start

Build a personality or product recommendation quiz: outcomes, questions whose answers give points to the outcomes, the products to recommend and an optional lead step. Your quiz is kept in this browser.

The quiz

Outcomes

The results a person can get. Each answer gives points to one or more outcomes; the outcome with the most points wins.

    Questions

One question at a time. Give each answer points for the outcomes it fits (minus points count against); “Then go to” lets an answer skip ahead or end the quiz.

      Products to recommend optional

Choose your store’s products export — Shopify (Products → Export), WooCommerce (Products → Export) — or any CSV or spreadsheet with a title and a price. Then pick up to three products under each outcome.

      Lead step optional

      Checks

        Test run

Take the quiz as your visitors will. Nothing is sent from this page.

        Publish

        Embed code

Paste it where the quiz should appear: a Custom HTML block in WordPress, a Custom Liquid section in Shopify, an Embed HTML element in Wix, or any HTML page.

        Page to upload

The quiz as a page of its own — index.html, the script, the style and your pictures — to upload to any web host or a folder of your site.

The quiz in a link to post anywhere: it opens on this site, and the quiz travels inside the link itself.

        Leads to Google Sheets

An Apps Script for your own Google Sheet: it adds a row for every lead, with the consent given. Its first lines say how to set it up.

        Result cards

A square picture of each outcome to post on social media; the quiz shows the same card to everyone who finishes it.

About the Personality Quiz Maker (with Lead Capture)

A quiz turns a visit into a conversation: people answer a few questions about themselves and get a result that speaks to them — a personality, a style, the product that suits them — and you learn what they want. Build one here: outcomes with a description, a picture and a button, questions whose answers give points to the outcomes (the most points wins, with a tie-break you choose), branching that skips questions or ends the quiz early, product recommendations from your Shopify or WooCommerce export, and an optional lead step that asks for contact details with a consent box that is never ticked in advance.

Take the quiz yourself in the test run beside the form, exactly as your visitors will. When it is ready, publish it as embed code for any page (WordPress, Shopify, Wix or plain HTML), as a page of its own to upload (index.html, the script, the style and your pictures in a ZIP), or as a share link that opens it on this site. Leads go straight from your visitors’ browsers to your own Google Sheet, through a small Apps Script that runs in your Google account. Everyone who finishes sees a result card to save and post, and share links for WhatsApp, X, Facebook, LinkedIn and e-mail.

Your quiz is kept in this browser. Without a pass the outputs show as a free preview — the test run works in full, the code shows its first lines, the page its list of files, and the result cards are marked; a Pro pass copies and downloads the embed code, the page, the Apps Script and the cards, and copies and opens the share link.

        How to use it

        1. Start from the Example, or press New quiz. Give the quiz a title, an introduction and a colour.
        2. Under Outcomes, write each result a person can get: a title, a description (its first sentence goes on the result card), a picture and a button to your shop or page.
        3. Under Questions, write each question and its answers, and give each answer points for the outcomes it fits. Open Picture, tags and where it goes to add a picture, tags for your leads, or a branch that skips ahead or ends the quiz.
        4. If you like, choose your store’s products export under Products to recommend and pick up to three products for each outcome, and switch on the Lead step: say who collects the details, what for and how people withdraw their consent. Take the quiz in the Test run and clear everything under Checks.
        5. Under Publish, with a Pro pass: copy the embed code into your page, download the page as a ZIP, copy the share link, and download the Apps Script for your Google Sheet and the result cards. Without a pass they show as a free preview.

        Common uses

        • A “Which product is right for you?” finder for an online shop, with the products each result recommends.
        • A personality quiz that grows an e-mail list, with consent asked properly.
        • A gift finder that branches on who the gift is for.
        • A quiz that sorts new leads by what they need, with tags for your follow-up e-mails.
        • A fun quiz for social media, with a result card people post themselves.

        How the scoring works

        • Every answer can give points, from −10 to 10, to any outcome; minus points count against. At the end the points are added up and the outcome with the most wins.
        • Ties: the outcome listed first wins, or, with “The latest answer decides”, the tied outcome that the most recent answer favoured most.
        • Branching: an answer can go to another question (skipping the ones between) or straight to the result. Back returns to the question before, with the earlier answers kept.
        • The Checks warn about an outcome no answer gives points to, a question that can never be reached and a branch back to an earlier question, which could go round in a loop.

        The lead step and consent

        • The lead step asks for a name, an e-mail address or a phone number, each optional or required, beside a consent box that is never ticked in advance. Its sentence says who collects the details, what for and how to withdraw: “I agree that Leaf & Loam may use my details to …”.
        • Under the EU’s GDPR, consent is “a clear affirmative act establishing a freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication” of agreement, and “Silence, pre-ticked boxes or inactivity should not therefore constitute consent” (Recital 32); “It shall be as easy to withdraw as to give consent” (Article 7(3)). Whether consent is freely given turns on whether a service is made conditional on it (Article 7(4)), so people may skip the step and still see their result unless you switch that off (GDPR on EUR-Lex).
        • India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 also rests on consent: a notice must be given before consent is asked, and consent may be withdrawn at any time (PRS Legislative Research).
        • Each lead row in your Sheet keeps the consent sentence and when it was given, with the answers, the outcome and the tags.

        Leads to your Google Sheet

        • The Apps Script (Code.gs) goes into your own Google Sheet (Extensions → Apps Script) and is deployed as a web app: Deploy → New deployment → Web app, Execute as: Me, Who has access: Anyone. Paste its address, which ends in /exec, into the lead step, then publish the quiz again.
        • Each lead goes from the visitor’s browser to your script and becomes a row: the time, the quiz, the outcome, the details given, the consent sentence and when it was given, the tags and the answers. A value that starts with =, +, - or @ is kept as text, so a lead can never write a formula into your Sheet.
        • Nothing passes through MySmartCoPilot, and leads are sent only from your own site: the test run on this page and the share link never send anything.

        Embed code, page or link

        • Embed code: one block to paste where the quiz should appear: a container, the quiz as data, its style and its script. Pictures you upload are inside the code; pictures given by their web address load from there.
        • Page: a ZIP of index.html, quiz.js, quiz.css and your pictures, for any web host or a folder of your site. If your site blocks inline scripts with a Content-Security-Policy, use the page’s quiz.js and quiz.css files rather than the embed code.
        • Share link: the whole quiz travels inside the link, after the “#”, so it opens on this site without being stored anywhere. Uploaded pictures and the lead step need your own site and are left out of links.
        • A published quiz works on phones and with a keyboard or a screen reader: one question at a time, real radio buttons, Back and Next, and the focus moved to each new question.

        Limitations

        • Not legal advice: you are responsible for your privacy notice and the consent you ask for. Have them checked where your law requires it.
        • Leads are sent with a simple request that Google’s web apps accept from any site, so the quiz cannot read the reply: it can tell a network failure, not a script that is set up wrongly. Test the lead step once on your site and look for the row in your Sheet.
        • A share link carries the quiz in its address: a long quiz makes a long link, which some apps cut. Use the embed code or the page for large quizzes.
        • WooCommerce’s standard products export has no product address column: add a URL column, or rely on each outcome’s button link.
        • The quiz keeps no record of its own: the answers of people who give their details are in your Sheet, and nothing else is stored.

        Privacy

On this device; its files download once

Your quiz is kept as a draft in this browser (tool settings) and never uploaded; product files and pictures are read on this device. On your site, the quiz sends details only to the Apps Script address you give it, and only after the person ticks the consent box.

        Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, Personality Quiz Maker (with Lead Capture) shows the whole quiz to build and take here, the first lines of the embed code and the script, the page’s list of files and marked result cards at half size. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded, copied or opened in another app. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

Does the quiz need a server to run?

No. The embed code and the page are plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript that run in your visitors’ browsers, on any host. Leads go to your own Google Sheet through your own Apps Script.

Can I put the quiz on Shopify, WordPress or Wix?

Yes: paste the embed code into a Custom Liquid section in Shopify, a Custom HTML block in WordPress or an Embed HTML element in Wix. If a site builder strips scripts, upload the page instead and link to it.

How do I see who took the quiz?

Switch on the lead step and set up the Apps Script: everyone who gives their details and ticks the consent box becomes a row in your Google Sheet, with their outcome, answers and tags.

Why can people skip the lead step?

Because consent that a result depends on may not be freely given (GDPR Article 7(4)), and a quiz people can finish gets shared more. You can make the step required; the checks then remind you of the rule.

        What are tags for?

Tags you give answers (“budget”, “beginner”, “gift”) are sent with the lead, so you can sort your follow-up e-mails by what people said as well as by their outcome.

What does the result card show?

The quiz title, “My result”, the outcome and the first sentence of its description, in the quiz’s colour, at 1080 × 1080 pixels. People save it from their result screen; with a Pro pass you download each outcome’s card under Publish.
