About the PDF Table to Excel / CSV

Statements, ledgers and reports repeat the same table on page after page. Open the PDF, check the box around the table and the red column guides on one page — the table is found for you, or you draw the box yourself — and the same template is applied to every page you choose, giving one combined table with the header row once.

The rows are cleaned on the way out: lines that wrap (long narrations) are joined to their entry, dates in any common style become real dates, amounts lose ₹, Rs. and thousands or lakh separators, and Dr/Cr balances such as 2,500.00 Dr become signed numbers. Separate Withdrawal and Deposit columns can also be combined into one signed Amount. Download Excel (.xlsx) or CSV — the PDF is read in your browser and never uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Choose the PDF. If it is password-protected, type the password you were given (bank statements often use your date of birth or part of the account number).
  2. Check the blue box and the red guides on the page. Drag on the page to draw a new box, drag its edges to resize it, and drag a guide (or select it and use the arrow keys) so each column sits between two guides; Find the table and Guess columns do it automatically.
  3. Set Pages. If page 1 has account details above the table, tick The first page has its own area and fit the box there separately.
  4. Under Rows, keep wrapped lines joined and repeated headers left out; add words such as “Opening balance” to Leave out rows containing if you do not want those rows.
  5. Check the type of each column in the preview (Date, Number, Amount (Dr/Cr), Debit, Credit, Text or Leave out), rename columns if you like, and Download Excel (.xlsx) or CSV.

Examples

A statement entry with a wrapped narration
Input
Date Narration Ref No Withdrawal Deposit Balance
02/09/2026 UPI/ASHA RAO/ UPI123 1,250.00 98,750.00 Cr
           Groceries
Result
Date: 2026-09-02 · Narration: UPI/ASHA RAO/ Groceries · Ref No: UPI123 · Withdrawal: 1250 · Balance: 98750 · Amount: -1250

The second line is joined to its entry, the date becomes a real date, the balance’s Cr becomes a positive number and the added Amount column is the deposit minus the withdrawal.

An overdrawn balance
Input
2,500.00 Dr
Result
-2500

Dr (debit) balances become negative and Cr balances positive — or the other way round, for statements where that makes sense, with Dr amounts: Positive.

Common uses

  • Turning months of bank or credit card statements into one spreadsheet to sort, filter and total.
  • Copying a ledger, trial balance or stock report that runs over many PDF pages into Excel.
  • Preparing statement transactions for accounting software or for a CSV import.
  • Pulling a long table out of an annual report or a government PDF in one go.

How the table is read

Only text that the PDF itself contains is read — its words and their positions on the page. Find the table looks for ruling lines that form a grid and for blocks of text whose rows leave the same vertical gaps free (the approach of the open-source Tabula project). Inside your box, each guide is a column boundary: a word belongs to the column its middle falls in.

Rows are the text lines. A line whose first column is empty is part of the entry above (or of the entry it is centred on, as in many statements), unless it has an amount of its own. For tables drawn with lines, the horizontal lines can be used instead, so a cell with several lines of text stays one cell. The header row is taken from the first page and left out wherever it is printed again.

How values are cleaned

  • Dates: 05/09/2026, 5-9-26, 05.09.2026, 2026-09-05, 05 Sep 2026, 05-SEP-26, 05SEP2026 and September 5, 2026, with or without a time. Numeric dates are read day-first unless you choose month-first — but a column whose dates include a day above 12 decides for itself. Two-digit years follow Excel: 00–29 are 2000–2029.
  • Numbers: ₹, Rs., INR and other currency signs are removed; Indian (1,23,456.78), international (1,234,567.89) and European (1.234.567,89) grouping are understood per column; (1,200.00), -1,200.00 and 1,200.00- are negative; percentages become fractions (12.5% → 0.125, shown as a percentage in Excel). Excel keeps the lakh/crore grouping for columns written that way.
  • Dr/Cr: 1,250.00 Dr, 1,250.00Cr, Dr 500 and 500.00 (Cr) become signed numbers.
  • Values that do not fit their column’s type are kept as text and counted in a note, so nothing is lost silently. Leading zeros (007) and long account or card numbers stay text.

This tool or PDF to Excel?

Use this tool when one table continues over many pages and you want it as a single clean list — statements, ledgers, long reports — and need control over exactly which part of the page is read. PDF to Excel finds every table in a PDF and gives each one its own editable grid and sheet, which suits documents with several different tables.

Limitations

  • Scanned statements and photos have no text to read. This tool does not do OCR — it says so instead of guessing; run the PDF through OCR PDF first and open the searchable PDF here.
  • One table at a time: the same box and column guides are used on every chosen page (page 1 can have its own box). Pages whose columns are in different places need a separate run.
  • Rotated text and tables that are rotated on the page are not read.
  • Merged cells are not kept: each guide makes a column. Text that spans several columns ends up in the column its middle falls in.
  • Very wide gaps inside a cell (for example a narration with spaced-out words) can need a guide moved by hand.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a bank statement PDF to Excel?

Open the statement here (type its password if it has one), check that the box covers the transactions and the red guides separate the columns, set the pages, and press Download Excel (.xlsx). Dates, amounts and Dr/Cr balances come out as real dates and numbers.

Is my statement uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened and read in your browser, on your device. The password, if any, is used only to open it and is not stored or sent anywhere.

Why does it say my PDF has no text?

The PDF is a picture of the pages — a scan or a photo — so there are no words in it to read. Make it searchable with OCR PDF, then open the new PDF here.

The first page has the account details at the top. What do I do?

Tick The first page has its own area. Then the box on page 1 is used only for page 1, and the box you set on any other page is used for all the others.

Can I get one Amount column instead of Withdrawal and Deposit?

Yes. When one column is a Debit (withdrawals) and one a Credit (deposits) column — they are recognised from their headers, or you can set the types — Add one signed Amount column adds credit minus debit for every row.
