Your document

OCR reads text in pictures of pages. It runs on your device and is slow on phones (a few seconds a page); English is always read as well.

Summary

Another language needs AI: the summary without AI keeps the document’s own sentences and language.

Send to MySmartCoPilot's server AI?

This is exactly what will be sent:

Email addresses, phone numbers, card numbers, Aadhaar and PAN numbers were replaced with placeholders such as ⟦EMAIL_1⟧ before sending. This is best effort.

Sent to MySmartCoPilot's cloud AI. Our AI service providers process it to answer you (if one is slow or busy, we may ask a second) and are not allowed to train on it. MySmartCoPilot doesn't store or log it.

It may be processed in data centres in the United States, India, Singapore, the European Union and other countries, which may be outside your country.

About the AI PDF Summarizer (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, EPUB)

Open a PDF, a Word or PowerPoint file, an EPUB book, an e-mail or a text file — or a scan or photo of pages, read with on-device OCR — and get it summarised the way you need: key points, a TL;DR, section by section (from the PDF’s bookmarks or its headings), chapter by chapter for books, an executive summary, meeting minutes with decisions and action items, a court judgment digest, or a plain-language version. Pick short, medium or long, and write it in the document’s language or another one.

Every line shows the page it comes from — select it to read that passage — and any number, date or name in an AI line that the document doesn’t contain is highlighted, so you know what to check. A summary without AI appears at once, made of the document’s own key sentences; then the AI summary is written by your browser’s built-in AI or a model on your device, or, with a pass, by MySmartCoPilot’s cloud AI. Long documents are summarised part by part with a progress bar. Without a pass you get the free preview: the first half of the summary.

How to use it

  1. Choose your document (or drop it on the box). Its card shows the pages and words, and any hidden text that was left out. For a scan or photo, tick Read scanned pages and photos and pick the language of the text.
  2. Pick the Summary type, the Length and the language to Write it in.
  3. Press Summarise. The summary without AI appears at once; then the AI panel asks where the AI summary may be written (the first time, an on-device model shows its download size and asks first). A long document goes part by part; Stop keeps the parts done.
  4. Select a page label to read the passage a line comes from, and check the highlighted numbers, dates and names.
  5. With a pass, Download the summary as Markdown, text, Word or PDF, or Copy it; the free preview shows the first half of it.

Examples

A 60-page annual report
Input
annual-report.pdf · Executive summary · Medium
Result
An overview in three sentences, five key points with their pages (“pages 12–13”), and the next steps the report itself names; figures copied exactly, anything not in the report highlighted.
An e-book, chapter by chapter
Input
a public-domain novel (EPUB) · Chapter by chapter · Short
Result
Two points for each chapter, under the chapter’s own title from the book’s table of contents.
Notes of a project meeting
Input
meeting-notes.docx · Meeting minutes
Result
Summary, Decisions and Action items, each action as “who — what — by when”, with “None recorded” where the notes say nothing.

Common uses

  • Getting the gist of a long report, policy or tender before deciding to read it in full.
  • Revision notes from a textbook chapter, lecture slides or a research paper.
  • Turning raw meeting notes into minutes with decisions and owners.
  • A neutral digest of a court judgment to see what it held, before reading the judgment itself.

Summary types

  • Key points and TL;DR: the most important points, or the gist in a few sentences.
  • Section by section: a few points per part — by the PDF’s bookmarks, else its headings, else five pages at a time. Chapter by chapter does the same for an e-book’s chapters.
  • Executive summary: an overview, the key points, and only the recommendations or next steps the document itself states.
  • Meeting minutes: what was discussed, the decisions, and the action items as “who — what — by when”.
  • Court judgment digest: the case, facts, issues, reasoning and decision as the judgment states them, in neutral words. It never says whether a decision is right and is not legal advice.
  • Plain-language version: the document explained in everyday words.

How the summary stays true to the document

  • Only the document. The AI is told to use only what the text says, to keep names, numbers and dates exactly, and to treat the document as data, never as instructions. Hidden text in the file (invisible, tiny or white text) is left out before anything is summarised.
  • Highlighted checks. Numbers, amounts, dates and names in an AI line that the document doesn’t contain are highlighted.
  • Source pages. Each line is matched to the passage of the document it is closest to, and that page is shown beside it.
  • No AI, no invention. The summary without AI is made only of the document’s own sentences (TextRank), with keyword rules for decisions and action items.

Where the AI runs, and long documents

  • Your browser’s built-in AI where it has one (some desktop browsers).
  • A language model on your device, downloaded once from MySmartCoPilot after you agree: about 1 GB on computers (about 350 MB on phones) with WebGPU, or, on a computer without WebGPU, a slower build of about 630 MB that runs on the processor. Any length of document works here, part by part.
  • MySmartCoPilot cloud, with a pass, after a dialog shows what is sent (the text with e-mail addresses, phone numbers and similar details masked). It summarises about the first 20 pages, and the summary then says which pages it covers.

A very long document is first cut to its key sentences, chosen without AI, so that it fits the AI’s limit; the summary says so.

Limitations

  • One file at a time, up to 50 MB and 500 pages. Scans are read with on-device OCR, which can misread names and numbers, up to 40 pages per run.
  • Tables, charts and pictures are read as text where they have text; numbers in a chart’s picture are not read.
  • Small on-device models can miss nuance or merge points; check the highlighted words and the source pages before relying on a summary.
  • A summary in another language than the document’s needs AI, and names may be spelt differently there.
  • The PDF download writes Latin, Greek and Cyrillic text; for Hindi and other scripts that need letter shaping, download Word instead.
  • The document and its summary stay only in this tab: reloading the page clears them.

Privacy

Your document is read on your device and never uploaded. The AI summary is written by your browser’s built-in AI where it has one, or by a language model downloaded once from MySmartCoPilot after you agree (the size is shown first). Only if you choose MySmartCoPilot cloud (with a pass) is the document’s text, with personal details masked, sent to MySmartCoPilot’s cloud AI; a dialog shows what is sent first.

Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, AI PDF Summarizer (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, EPUB) shows the first half of the summary’s words (up to 100) with their source pages, made from your whole document. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

Is my document uploaded?

No. It is read and indexed in your browser, and the AI on your device or in your browser never sends it anywhere. Only if you choose MySmartCoPilot cloud, with a pass, is its text sent — after a dialog shows exactly what.

Can it summarise a 300-page book?

Yes, on your device: it goes part by part (chapter by chapter for an e-book) with a progress bar, and Stop keeps what is done for the next run. MySmartCoPilot cloud summarises about the first 20 pages and says so.

Why are some words highlighted?

They are numbers, dates, amounts or names in the AI summary that the document doesn’t contain word for word. Often they are just written differently (“twenty” for 20), sometimes the AI made a mistake: check them against the source page.

Is the court judgment digest legal advice?

No. It reports what the judgment says — the case, facts, issues, reasoning and decision — in neutral words, without judging whether it is right or what happens next. Read the judgment itself and ask a qualified lawyer about your own situation.

What is the summary without AI?

The document’s own most central sentences, chosen with TextRank (the method of the Text Summarizer), plus keyword rules for decisions and action items. It appears at once and works on every device, in the document’s language.
