About the India Bank Holiday Calendar
Choose the RBI office city closest to the branch you need and a supported calendar period. This calendar combines that office’s NIA holiday entries with the second and fourth Saturdays and the weekly Sunday branch schedule. It keeps RBI’s accounts-closing entries separate, so an accounting entry does not silently become an unconditional closed-branch answer. The free preview shows the selected date’s schedule and the first rows; a Pro pass opens the complete calendar, long-weekend list and exports.
State names help you find the RBI office city. Branches elsewhere in a state can have different local arrangements. A result saying no closure is listed is a reason to confirm opening hours, rather than a guarantee that a counter will be open.
How to use it
- Select the state-labelled RBI office city, calendar year and month, or the full year.
- Check the date you need; the default follows India Standard Time when that year is supported.
- Read the reason and distinguish NIA holidays, weekly closures and accounts-closing entries.
- With a Pro pass, inspect the complete month calendar and consecutive closure runs, or export CSV, text or all-day .ics events.
Examples
Mumbai · 10 October 2026
Scheduled second-Saturday closure, combined with any NIA entry on that date.
A city with an RBI accounts-closing marker
An accounts-closing entry is flagged for confirmation unless an independent weekly/NIA closure also applies.
How a scheduled closure is found
For each calendar date, match its RBI office-city NIA entries, then add the second/fourth Saturday pattern and the weekly Sunday schedule. Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act includes Sundays in its public-holiday definition. Combine reasons on one date and count that date once. A long weekend is a consecutive run of at least three scheduled closure days. An accounts-closing marker is kept separate and is not used on its own to build a long weekend.
What a festival name in the matrix means
RBI can put several regional festival names in a combined description for a date. This page retains that combined description and identifies it as such. It does not invent a different festival name for each office or claim that every festival in the combined text is celebrated in the chosen city.
Digital payments and branch work
The RBI NEFT FAQ and RTGS FAQ describe round-the-clock availability. Your bank or app can still have maintenance, limits or an outage. Counter work and cheque processing can follow separate schedules; a holiday-calendar result does not certify the availability or completion of a payment.
Limitations
- The supported calendar year is limited to the RBI matrices supplied here; future festival dates are not predicted.
- Local orders, branch hours, strikes and exceptional opening arrangements require branch confirmation.
- State labels are a way to locate RBI office cities, not a promise that every branch in a state follows one city’s entry.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, India Bank Holiday Calendar shows the selected date’s branch schedule in full, with the first rows of each table (up to 3) and a watermarked chart; every other figure is hidden. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Are banks open today or tomorrow?
The selected date’s scheduled-closure verdict is shown. When the supported year matches today, the default follows India Standard Time, and the next day’s schedule is included in the result. Confirm actual branch hours and local arrangements.
Are all Saturdays bank holidays?
The matrix page’s weekly rule identifies the second and fourth Saturdays. The first, third and fifth Saturdays are not turned into closures just because they are Saturdays; a separate NIA holiday can still apply.
Why does a city row show several festival names?
The RBI matrix uses a combined description for some dates. The page identifies it as RBI’s combined date description instead of inventing a city-specific attribution.
Can I add the list to a calendar app?
The .ics export creates an all-day event per included closure or accounts-closing entry, uses stable event identifiers and marks the event as transparent. Confirm how your calendar handles repeated imports.
