About the Best Time to Post Analyzer (From Your Own Data)

Generic “best time to post” charts average other people’s audiences. This analyzer uses yours: open an export of your posts — CSV or Excel, from your platform’s analytics or a sheet you keep — and it finds when your own posts did best. Every post gets a score (likes, comments, shares and saves added up, or views, or any columns you choose, optionally per 1,000 people reached), and each day of the week and hour is compared with your average post.

You get a grid of days and hours, the best slots with how many posts each rests on, the best days and hours, your top posts, and how each post type and hashtag does. Times are read in the time zone of the file and shown in the one you choose, such as your audience’s, with summer time handled. Everything runs in your browser.

Without a pass, the free preview shows the counts of your posts in full, with the first half of the best slots, of the grid’s rows and of each table; the full analysis, Copy summary, the CSV and printing come with a Pro pass.

How to use it

  1. Get an export of your posts with their results: from YouTube Studio, Analytics, Advanced mode and its export of the current view (YouTube Help); from a LinkedIn Page, Analytics, Content and its export to an XLS file (LinkedIn Help); or from any analytics tool or sheet that lists one post a row with its publish time.
  2. Open the file here, drop it on the box, or paste the rows of a sheet (with the header row). The columns are recognised from their names.
  3. Check the columns: the publish time, the results to add up into the score, and, if you like, a reach, impressions or views column to score per 1,000. Add the post type and the caption for the type and hashtag tables.
  4. Set the time zone the file’s times are in and the one to show days and hours in, such as where most of your audience lives.
  5. Read the best slots, the grid, the days, the hours, the types, the hashtags and the top posts. With a Pro pass, or after unlocking this analysis, use Copy summary, Download CSV or Print.

Examples

Six posts over eight days
Input
Monday 18:10 Reel #travel (100), Tuesday 09:05 photo (30), Wednesday 18:20 carousel #travel (80), Saturday 12:00 Reel (60), Sunday photo without a time (20), the next Monday 18:40 Reel #travel (160); score = likes + comments
Result
Average post 75 · best slot Monday 18:00–18:59: 130 (+73%, 2 posts)
Best post type: Reel 106.67 (+42%, 3 posts) · #travel 113.33 (+51%, 3 posts)

Only slots with at least 2 posts are ranked by default; the Sunday post counts for Sunday but not for any hour.

Shown in another time zone
Input
A post published at 18:40 UTC on a Monday, shown in Asia/Tokyo (UTC+9)
Result
Tuesday 03:40: the post counts for Tuesday, in the 03:00–03:59 slot, in Japan

Common uses

  • Choosing when to schedule next month’s posts from what worked for your own followers.
  • Showing a client which days and hours their content does best, with the number of posts behind each.
  • Comparing Reels, carousels and photos, or videos and Shorts, by how they score.
  • Seeing which hashtags come with your best-performing posts.

How the score and the slots work

  • Each post’s score is the sum of the columns you choose. With a reach, impressions or views column, the score is that sum per 1,000 of it, so a post shown to more people does not win just by being shown more.
  • Each slot (a day of the week and an hour, in the time zone shown) gets the average score of its posts, or the median, which a single viral post moves less.
  • The figure beside each slot compares it with your average post: +25% means its posts scored a quarter more than your typical post.
  • The best slots are those with at least the number of posts you set (2 by default), so one lucky post does not top the list. The grid can show blocks of three hours when your posts are spread thin.

Time zones

Analytics exports write times in a time zone: the account’s, the device’s, or UTC. Choose it under The file’s times are in; when a file writes each time with its own offset (“+05:30”, “Z”), that offset is used instead. Then choose the zone to show days and hours in: your audience’s, if most of them live in one place. The conversion uses your browser’s time-zone data, so summer time is right on both sides, including the days the clocks change.

Exports it reads

  • CSV, TSV and Excel files (.xlsx, .xls, .ods), and rows pasted from a spreadsheet. An export with a title or notes above its header row is read from the header row.
  • Dates and times as exports write them: “2026-10-15 14:30”, “10/15/2026 2:30 PM”, “15.10.2026 14:30”, “Oct 15, 2026”, a Unix time, or an Excel date. When every date could be read day first or month first, choose the order.
  • Rows without a time or without results (a totals row, an empty line) are left out and counted.
  • YouTube Studio’s export of the current view has at most 500 rows (YouTube Help).

Limitations

  • The figures show what happened with your posts, not why: a good slot can be a coincidence of what you posted then. Try the best slots for a few weeks, then compare again.
  • Older posts have had longer to collect results; an export that ends a few days before today compares posts more fairly.
  • If the export gives only the publish date, without a time of day, only the days of the week are compared.
  • Column names are recognised in English; for an export in another language, choose the columns yourself.
  • Up to 50,000 posts and files up to 30 MB.

Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, Best Time to Post Analyzer (From Your Own Data) shows the counts of your posts in full, with the first half of the best slots, of the grid’s rows and of each table (up to 10 rows). Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded, copied or printed. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

What is the best time to post on Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn?

It depends on when your own followers are online and on what you post, which is why general charts often disagree. This analyzer answers the question for your account: it compares the days and hours of your own posts by how well they did.

How many posts do I need?

The more the better. Each slot shows how many posts its figure rests on, and the best slots need at least the number you set (2 by default). With a few dozen posts, the days of the week and blocks of three hours are steadier than single hours.

Which time zone should I choose?

For the file, the zone your analytics show times in, often your account’s or your own. For the results, the zone where most of your audience lives, so the best hours are their hours.

Why divide by reach or views?

A post shown to more people collects more likes, whatever the time. Per 1,000 reached, each post is judged by how well it did with the people who saw it, which compares times more fairly.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The file is read and analysed in your browser, and the page works offline once it has loaded. Only the time zones and options you chose are kept in this browser.
