About the IB Diploma Points & Conditions
Enter six subject grades, their HL or SL levels, TOK and EE grades, and CAS completion. The calculator uses the complete TOK/EE points matrix and checks the published academic diploma conditions separately. Missing grades stay unknown; no total or core points are invented.
How to use it
- Enter exactly six subject records with an HL or SL level and a grade from 1 to 7, or N for an unawarded grade.
- Select TOK and EE grades and state whether CAS is complete.
- Calculate, then review the known total, counted HL and SL points, and each met, unmet or unknown condition.
- Copy or download the complete working after unlock. Editing or resetting clears the previous result.
Examples
Three HL and three SL subjects, all graded 7; TOK A, EE A; CAS complete.
42 subject points + 3 core points = 45. The stated academic conditions are met.
The IB makes the award decision; this is a comparison with the entered records.
Matrix and award conditions
The matrix has EE rows and TOK columns. An E in either core component is a failing condition. The checks include at least 24 total points, CAS completion, all required grades awarded, no subject grade 1, at most two grade 2 subjects, at most three grades of 3 or lower, and the HL and SL minima. With four HL subjects, the highest three count towards the 12-point HL minimum. The SL minimum is 9 for three subjects or 5 for two.
Official criteria and assessment context
Diploma passing criteria, student assessment context, and Diploma Programme regulations. The rules and factual matrix are implemented independently; official artwork is not reproduced.
Limitations
- This compares entered grades with the stated academic conditions. The IB makes the award decision under its full regulations, including academic-integrity procedures.
- The IB does not assign individual-course passing scores. A grade 1 is a diploma failing condition, not a separate course-pass certificate.
- N means unawarded. Conditions that need missing grades remain unknown. An E core grade does not become a fictitious zero-point bonus.
- MySmartCoPilot is not affiliated with or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, IB Diploma Points & Conditions shows the entered fields and published rules, with calculated points, condition results and exports locked. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Which HL and SL points count?
HL needs 12 points. When four subjects are at HL, the best three count. SL needs 9 points for three subjects or 5 for two.
Why is a total sometimes unknown?
A complete total needs all six subject grades and valid core points. A missing grade (N) or a failing E core grade is shown as it is, never converted to zero.
