About the Academic Credits & Study Hours
Compare credits and study hours using stated workload bases for ECTS, UK and US semester credits and India’s National Credit Framework. The conventional UK-to-ECTS credit ratio is shown separately from the hour-derived comparison. The receiving institution decides transfer equivalence.
How to use it
- Choose the input credit system or study hours and enter a positive amount.
- Choose 25–30 hours per ECTS credit and declare the US semester weeks, instruction minutes and outside-work minutes.
- Calculate and compare all four workload equivalents, the ECTS range and the separate UK-to-ECTS convention.
- Copy or download the full basis and working after unlock.
Workload and formal credit conventions
ECTS commonly represents 25–30 study hours per credit and 60 credits per full-time year. UK credits represent 10 notional hours each; the everyday-practice convention of 2 UK credits to 1 ECTS credit is distinct from an hour conversion. India’s NCrF overall basis is 30 notional hours per credit, with regulator and institution variations. Each institution defines US semester credit work against the federal definition of instruction and outside work; the minutes and weeks you choose are shown.
Primary framework sources
ECTS Users’ Guide, QAA credit framework, federal credit-hour definition, and National Credit Framework. The complete captured primary documents support the stated workload bases; the receiving institution determines transfer equivalence.
Limitations
- Workload hours do not establish a qualification level, automatic credit transfer or a receiving institution’s recognition.
- US academic-hour delivery conventions and NCrF regulator rules can vary. A fixed clock-hour ratio is not presented as universal.
- The conventional 2 UK to 1 ECTS credit relation can differ from the comparison obtained using 25–30 ECTS study hours.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Academic Credits & Study Hours shows the entered fields and method, with complete calculated results and exports locked. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Why are there two UK-to-ECTS comparisons?
One compares the workload hours you enter. The other shows the conventional credit relation of 2 UK credits to 1 ECTS credit. They serve different purposes.
Does this guarantee transfer credit?
No. The receiving institution assesses the course, qualification level, outcomes and its own recognition policy.
