About the France RSA Calculator
Work out France's minimum income, the revenu de solidarité active (RSA), the way the Caf and the MSA do: the flat amount for your household (€651,69 a month for a single person, €977,54 for a couple, more with each dependent child), minus the household's resources (the monthly average of the last three months) and minus a housing flat rate if you get a housing aid, are housed for nothing or own your home (Service-Public). An isolated parent gets a higher amount for a time (Service-Public).
Enter who lives in the household, your housing and what the household received over the last three months. The calculator shows the RSA a month, the amount for your household, the resources it counts and the housing flat rate, with the working. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
Without a pass, the free preview shows your monthly RSA in full, with the first rows of the resources table and the first step of the working; a Pro pass unlocks every figure and the summary to copy, download or print.
How to use it
- Choose single or couple and enter the number of dependent children (or other dependants under 25) in the household.
- If you bring up your children alone after a separation, a birth or a pregnancy, tick isolated parent; tick pregnant if you are expecting a child.
- Choose your housing and enter what the household received over the last three months, by kind; leave a field empty for nothing.
- Read the RSA a month and the working. With a Pro pass, or after unlocking this result, use Copy summary, Download CSV or Print; without one the page shows a free preview.
Examples
RSA €573,49 a month: €651,69 − €78,20 housing flat rate.
RSA €351,69 a month: €651,69 − €300 a month of earnings.
RSA €1 022,75 a month: €1 368,55 − €152,25 − €193,55.
The worked example Service-Public gives.
RSA €959,39 a month: €1 115,80 − €156,41.
The amount for your household
- Single person: €651,69; with one child €977,54, two children €1 173,05.
- Couple: €977,54; with one child €1 173,05, two children €1 368,55.
- Each further child or dependant: €260,68.
- Isolated parent: pregnant €836,85, one child €1 115,80, two children €1 394,75, then €278,95 for each further child; for 12 months within the 18 months after the event, or until the youngest child turns 3.
- The amounts are revalued each year in April (Service-Public).
What counts as resources
The monthly average of what the whole household received in the three months before the request (with the pre-filled quarterly declaration, the months two to four before it): earnings from work, unemployment benefit, daily allowances, pensions, maintenance, rents, the income of savings and some family benefits such as the family allowances (Service-Public). Money on current accounts does not count. If you get a housing aid, are housed for nothing or own your home, a housing flat rate is counted instead of the aid: €78,20 for one person, €156,41 for two, €193,55 for three or more.
Who can get it
People of 25 and over who live in France in a stable way and whose resources are below the amount for their household. Under 25, the RSA is open to a parent or a pregnant woman, and to some young people who have worked (the RSA jeune actif). The Caf or the MSA checks the conditions and pays it; the amount is reviewed every quarter.
Limitations
- Which family benefits count, savings counted at a notional rate and the income of self-employed people have detailed rules; the Caf or the MSA applies them.
- Someone else paying your rent, a student, and people from abroad have conditions of their own.
- The prime d’activité, which can add to low earnings, is a separate benefit and is not included.
- An estimate from the published amounts, not a decision of the Caf or the MSA and not financial advice.
