About the Italy NASpI Unemployment Benefit Calculator

Work out Italy's unemployment benefit NASpI (Nuova prestazione di assicurazione sociale per l'impiego) the way the law sets it (D.Lgs. 22/2015, article 4): 75% of your average monthly pay up to the year's reference amount, plus 25% of the part above it, at most a monthly maximum. For a job that ends in 2026 the reference amount is €1.456,72 and the maximum €1.584,70 a month (INPS circular no. 4/2026). It is paid for half the weeks of contributions of the last four years, and from the sixth month (the eighth if you are 55 or older when you apply) it falls by 3% each month.

Enter the taxable pay and the weeks of contributions of each of the four years before the job ended, and your age on the day you apply. The calculator shows the NASpI a month, how long it lasts, every month of the schedule with its cuts and the total, with the working. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Without a pass, the free preview shows your monthly NASpI in full, with the first months of the schedule and the first step of the working; a Pro pass unlocks every figure: the duration, every month, the total and the summary to copy, download or print.

How to use it

  1. For each of the four years before the job ended (the most recent first), enter the taxable pay for social security (retribuzione imponibile, on your payslips or in the social security part of your Certificazione Unica) and the weeks of contributions (52 for a whole year).
  2. If some of those weeks already gave you an earlier unemployment benefit, enter them under weeks already used: they count for the amount but not for the duration.
  3. Enter your age on the day you apply, and read the NASpI a month, the duration and the schedule month by month.
  4. With a Pro pass, or after unlocking this result, use Copy summary, Download CSV or Print; without one the page shows a free preview.

How the NASpI is worked out

  • Average monthly pay: the taxable pay for social security (retribuzione imponibile ai fini previdenziali) of the last four years, divided by the weeks of contributions and multiplied by 4,33 (INPS circular no. 94/2015).
  • Amount: 75% of that pay up to the reference amount; above it, 75% of the reference amount plus 25% of the difference, at most the monthly maximum (article 4). For 2026: reference €1.456,72, maximum €1.584,70 a month.
  • Duration: half the weeks of contributions of the last four years; weeks that already gave an unemployment benefit are left out (article 5). Four full years give the longest NASpI, 104 weeks.
  • Monthly cuts: from the first day of the sixth month of payment the amount falls by 3% a month, from the eighth month if you were 55 or older when you applied (INPS circular no. 2/2022); each cut is applied to the amount already cut.

Who can get it

Employees who lost their job involuntarily, are unemployed and have at least 13 weeks of contributions in the four years before (article 3). Resignation for just cause and a consensual termination agreed in the procedure of the labour office count too. After a voluntary resignation from a permanent job in the twelve months before, 13 weeks of contributions are needed since that resignation. Apply to INPS within 68 days of the end of the job (INPS).

Limitations

  • Amounts are gross: the NASpI is taxable income, and INPS withholds income tax (IRPEF) from each payment.
  • Farm workers on fixed-term contracts have a separate scheme (the agricultural unemployment benefit), and some groups have special rules for the pay counted; INPS applies them from its own records.
  • Work while you receive the NASpI (a new job, self-employment, occasional work) can reduce or suspend it; the calculator assumes none.
  • A week of contributions counts whole here; INPS counts your weeks from its own records, which can differ from your payslips.
  • An estimate from the published rules, not an INPS decision and not financial advice.
