1. Input tables

Input 1

The table the workflow starts from.

Or paste the table (from Excel, Google Sheets or a CSV)

2. Steps

No steps yet: add the first one below. Each step works on an input or an earlier step and shows its first rows.

    3. Outputs

      4. Run

While you edit, every step runs on the first rows of each file (shown on its card); this runs the whole files and updates every count.

About the No-Code Data Workflow Builder (CSV & Excel)

Most spreadsheet chores are the same every month: tidy the export, drop the test rows, look up names from a master list, add a formula column, total by region, save it for the boss. Here you build those steps once — as cards in a flow, each reading the table before it or another file — and the whole workflow becomes a small recipe file. Next month, open the recipe, drop in the new export and run it again.

Every step shows the rows it takes in and gives out and its first rows as you edit it, so a wrong filter shows at once. Steps name columns by their headings, so a file whose columns moved still runs, and a step that needs a missing column says which. Joins and lookups use the engine of the CSV join tool, pivots and unpivots that of the transpose tool, and formula columns the spreadsheet functions of the Excel editor. Whole files run in a background worker, and nothing is uploaded.

      How to use it

      1. Open the input table (CSV, Excel, ODS or Numbers, or paste it). Add a second or third input for joins and lookups.
      2. Under Steps, add the chores in order — clean up text, remove duplicates, keep or drop rows, join another table, add a formula column, group and summarise and so on — and set each one; its counts and first rows update as you type.
      3. Under Outputs, choose what to make: CSV, Excel, JSON, one CSV per group in a ZIP, or the table handed to the Chart Maker or the Word mail merge.
      4. Save the recipe file. Next time, open it, add the new file and run the whole workflow.
      5. With a pass, run the whole files and download every output; without one the page shows a free preview of every step on the first 100 rows.

      Examples

      Monthly sales by city
      Input
Orders.csv + Customers.xlsx · Steps: Clean up text → Keep rows where Amount is more than 100 → Join Customers on Customer → Formula column Total = {Amount} * 1.18 → Group by City, sum of Total → Sort by it
      Result
One row per city with its revenue, largest first, as CSV or Excel.
      A formula column
      Input
      Formula: IF({Due date} < TODAY(), "Overdue", "Open")
      Result
A Status column for every row; columns are written in braces, and the spreadsheet functions IF, ROUND, TEXT, DATE, EDATE, DATEDIF, NETWORKDAYS, LEFT, MID and more work as in Excel.

A date written year first (2026-10-14) counts as a date, as when Excel opens a CSV; put a Format dates step before the formula for dates written another way.

      One file per branch
      Input
Output: One file per group, by Branch
      Result
A ZIP with Branch A.csv, Branch B.csv … each with that branch’s rows.

      Common uses

      • Monthly or weekly reports built from the same exports (sales, attendance, inventory, bank statements).
      • Cleaning data before importing it into another system, the same way every time.
      • Combining a transaction export with master lists (customers, products, branches).
      • Splitting one big file into a file per region, salesperson or class.

      The steps

      • Clean up text: spaces, invisible characters, upper, lower or title case, empty rows and columns.
      • Remove duplicate rows: by every column or the ones you choose, keeping the first or the last.
      • Keep or drop rows: rules such as “Amount is more than 100” or “City contains pune” (numbers compared as numbers, text without case), all or any of them.
      • Choose, order and rename columns.
      • Formula column: spreadsheet formulas with {Column} references.
      • Split a column into columns or rows, and merge columns with a separator.
      • Format dates (day-first, month-first, ISO, Excel serials or Unix times in; the pattern you want out) and numbers and currency in any locale.
      • Extract with a pattern and find and replace (plain text or regular expressions).
      • Look up and replace values from a mapping table, and join another table like VLOOKUP, with every join type.
      • Group and summarise (count, sum, average, smallest, largest, distinct, first, last, all values), pivot, unpivot, sort, transpose and keep the first rows.

      Recipes

A recipe is a small JSON file with the steps and their settings, never your data. Keep it next to your exports or share it with a colleague: opening it on another computer gives the same workflow. The page does not keep recipes by itself.

      Limitations

      • Tables are held in your browser’s memory: a CSV up to 100 MB or a workbook up to 50 MB with at most 10 million cells per input, and up to three inputs.
      • Steps work on text: a formula reads numbers and dates from the cells, but the output of every step is text again (as in a CSV).
      • JSONata transforms and watching a folder for new files are not offered; open the new file and run the recipe again.
      • The free preview runs every step on the first 100 rows of each file; whole files and every output need a pass.

      Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, No-Code Data Workflow Builder (CSV & Excel) shows every step run on the first 100 rows of each file, with its row counts and its first rows. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

      Is my data uploaded?

No. Files are read and every step runs in your browser (whole files in a background worker); the recipe file holds only the steps.

What happens if next month’s file has different columns?

Steps find columns by their headings, so a moved column is no problem. If a heading changed or a column is missing, the step that needs it stops and says which column it could not find; rename it in the step and run again.

How do I write a formula?

Write the formula as in Excel, with columns in braces: {Price} * {Quantity}, ROUND({Amount} * 1.18, 2), IF({Status} = "Paid", {Amount}, 0), TEXT({Date}, "dd-mmm-yyyy"). About 150 spreadsheet functions work. Numbers in the cells count as numbers and dates written year first (2026-10-14) as dates, so {Due date} < TODAY() compares days; a date the formula works out comes back as Excel’s day number, which TEXT(…, "yyyy-mm-dd") writes as a date.

Can one step use the result of a step further up, not just the one before?

Yes. Every step has Works on: choose any input or any earlier step, so a workflow can branch, and a join can bring two branches together.

      What does the pass add?

With a Premium pass the whole files run (not only the first 100 rows) and every output downloads; handing the result to the Chart Maker or the Word mail merge needs it too.
