About Petal Orchard: Chainburst

A spring morning, high above the fields. Cherry trees bloom on floating islands, the sails of a windmill turn, kites bob on their tails and petals blow across the sky. Down on the whitewashed window box, six kinds of blossom sticker wait to be matched: a cherry blossom, a tulip, a daisy, a clover, a bluebell and a sprig of lavender.

Swap neighbours to line up three or more. The clears fall, new blossoms drop in, and when those line up too the chain grows. You also have a few wild tokens: press Wild, pick a tile and drag along its row or column, and the whole line takes that tile’s colour. A token needs a chain to ride, so the best moment to paint is right after a long cascade.

Twelve hand-drawn plots, from a blossom row to the grand orchard, each ask for a chain of a different depth and number, and give a different handful of tokens. From the third link of a chain the wind rises: clouds race, the windmill whirls and a stream of petals sweeps across the sky, from the left and then from the right. A chain five deep shakes the cherry trees into a storm of blossom.

Every plot can be won, and a hint is one press away. Stars follow your score, and Settings can give you more moves or none at all. Your stars, bests and badges stay in this browser.

How to play

  1. Drag a blossom toward a neighbour, or tap one and then the next. Arrow keys move a cursor; Enter or Space picks a blossom.
  2. Line up three or more of a kind. When the blossoms that fall in line up too, the chain grows.
  3. Press Wild (or Q), pick a tile, then drag along its row or column. The whole line takes that tile’s colour. A token needs a chain first.
  4. Meet the plot’s goal: a chain of the depth it asks, as many times as it asks, and the score.
  5. Press H or the Hint button for a move that works. Press P, Escape or Start to pause.

Frequently asked questions

How does a wild token work?

Press Wild, pick a tile and drag along its row or column. The whole line takes that tile’s colour. A token carries the depth of your last chain into its own cascade, so it is strongest right after a long one. You cannot use one before your first move.

What is a chain?

When the clears from one swap make new blossoms fall into lines of their own, each wave counts as a link. Each plot asks for a chain of a certain depth. From the third link the wind rises.

Can every plot be won?

Yes. Each plot is calibrated with a solving player, so a way to win always exists. Use the Hint button, or choose more moves in Settings.
