About Sliding Puzzle
A browser version of the classic sliding number puzzle. Fifteen numbered tiles sit in a 4x4 grid with one blank space; slide tiles into the blank, one at a time, until the numbers run in order from 1 to 15.
Nothing here involves betting or prizes — it is a calm, free puzzle for a short break.
How to play
- Click, tap or use the arrow keys to slide a tile adjacent to the blank space into it.
- Keep sliding tiles until every number is in order, reading left to right, top to bottom.
- The move counter tracks how many slides you have made.
- Every shuffle is reachable by legal slides, so every puzzle is solvable.
Controls
- Click or tap a tile next to the blank — slide it
- Arrow keys — slide the tile adjacent to the blank in that direction
Frequently asked questions
Is every shuffled puzzle solvable?
Yes — every puzzle is generated by making random legal slides from the solved state, which always keeps it solvable by sliding back.
What counts as solved?
The tiles read 1 to 15 in order, left to right and top to bottom, with the blank space in the bottom-right corner.
