About Minesweeper

A browser version of the classic logic puzzle Minesweeper: reveal squares, use the numbers to work out where the mines are, and flag them. Your first click is always safe.

Choose Easy, Medium or Hard. Your fastest win on each difficulty is kept on this device only.

How to play

  1. Click or tap a square to reveal it. The first square you reveal is always safe.
  2. A number shows how many mines are in the 8 squares around it — use it to work out where mines are.
  3. Right-click (or long-press on touch) a square you believe is a mine to flag it.
  4. Reveal every square that is not a mine to win. Revealing a mine ends the game.

Frequently asked questions

Is the first click always safe?

Yes — mines are placed only after your first click, and never on that square or its 8 neighbours.

How do I flag a mine on a touch screen?

Press and hold a square to flag it, instead of right-clicking as you would with a mouse.
