About Petal Garden: Chainburst
Night has come to a walled garden, and the market under the blossoms is opening its stalls. Six kinds of enamel charm hang on brass rings, each with its own shape and its own flower engraved in cream: five petals, three leaves, a cross, a lattice, six petals and an eight-ray star. Swap two neighbours to line up three or more, and they burst into light and petals.
Under some columns stands a round moon gate cut in the garden wall, and each one asks for a single colour. Clear that colour in its own column to fill the gate; a full gate opens and shines. A clever swap can open two or three at once, because the charms that drop in after a clear can clear again by themselves.
That falling-and-clearing is a chain, and chains win every board. Each board names the depth of cascade it wants, how many times, and a score to reach. A cascade three deep runs a wave of light along the string bulbs. Four deep or more opens the blossoms on the trellis and warms the stall windows, and a cleared board lights the whole market.
The music is a slow market evening on zither, lute and bowed strings, with wooden fish clicks and a frame drum that joins as your chains grow. Every board can be won: it is built together with a player that solves it first, and a hint is one press away. Settings offers more moves, or none at all, and a switch for the light show. How to play
- Drag a charm toward a neighbour, or tap one charm and then the next. Arrow keys and Enter or Space also work.
- Line up three or more of a colour to make them burst. New charms drop in after every clear.
- Each moon gate wants one colour. Clear that colour in its column until the count is full and the gate opens.
- Cascades are chains. Meet the chain targets of the board, the depth and the number of times, then reach the score.
- Press H or the Hint button for a move that works. Press P, Escape or Start to pause.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as a chain?
When charms clear and the new ones that drop into place line up by themselves, that is a second link. Each extra link is one level deeper, and the board tells you the depth it wants.
How do the moon gates work?
A gate wants one colour. Every charm of that colour you clear in the gate’s own column fills it a little. When the count is full the gate opens and shines. Several gates can open on the same move.
What are the market lights?
A cascade three deep runs a wave of light along the string bulbs. Four deep or more opens the blossoms and lights the stall windows, and a cleared board lights the whole market. You can switch the light show off in Settings.
