About the Radiation Unit Converter
Convert a radiation value into every unit of the same physical quantity: activity (becquerel, curie and their prefixes, and disintegrations per minute), absorbed dose (gray, rad), equivalent dose (sievert, rem), equivalent dose rate per hour, and exposure (coulomb per kilogram, roentgen). Gray and sievert are never converted into each other: an equivalent dose needs radiation and tissue weighting factors that a unit cannot carry.
The free preview shows the list of units with the values hidden. A Pro pass shows every value, with copy and text or JSON downloads. Everything is calculated on your device.
How to use it
- Choose the physical quantity: activity, absorbed dose, equivalent dose, equivalent dose rate or exposure.
- Choose the unit of your value, and enter the value (zero or more).
- Select Convert to see the value in every unit of that quantity.
- With a Pro pass, copy the working or download it as text or JSON.
Factors and sources
1 Ci = 3.7 × 10¹⁰ Bq, 1 rad = 0.01 Gy, 1 rem = 0.01 Sv and 1 R = 2.58 × 10⁻⁴ C/kg (NIST SP 811, appendix B.9). ICRP Publication 103 explains why absorbed and equivalent dose are separate quantities: an equivalent dose weights the absorbed dose by the type of radiation.
Limitations
- Unit conversion only: no dose interpretation, safety limit, diagnosis or treatment advice.
- Absorbed and equivalent dose stay apart, and so do activity and dose: converting between them needs information that a unit does not carry.

Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Radiation Unit Converter shows the rules, dates and checks that apply to your figures, with every computed amount hidden. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Why can’t I convert gray to sievert?
Gray measures the energy absorbed per kilogram; sievert measures equivalent dose, which multiplies the absorbed dose by a radiation weighting factor (and, for effective dose, by tissue weighting factors). Those factors depend on the radiation and the body, not on the unit, so the converter does not guess them.
What does µSv/h mean?
Microsieverts per hour, an equivalent dose rate. The converter lists it with Sv/h, mSv/h, rem/h and mrem/h.
What is dpm?
Disintegrations per minute, a unit of activity: 60 dpm is 1 becquerel.
