About the ID Card Front & Back on One Page

Make a photocopy-style page of an ID card without a photocopier: photograph the front and the back (or choose a PDF, such as a downloaded e-Aadhaar), and both sides are straightened, cropped and placed on one A4 or US Letter page at the card’s true size, 85.60 × 53.98 mm (the ID-1 format of ISO/IEC 7810 used by Aadhaar, PAN, driving licences, voter IDs, bank cards and most other ID cards).

The card’s edges are found automatically, and you can drag the corners exactly onto the card — a photo taken at an angle comes out rectangular. Adjust brightness and contrast, cover part of a side (for example the first eight digits of an Aadhaar number), put several copies on one sheet with cut lines, add a note such as what the copy is for, and download a PDF or a JPG with a pass, or after unlocking the result. The photos never leave your device. Without a pass, the free preview shows the finished page and both straightened sides marked “MySmartCoPilot preview · not for use”.

How to use it

  1. Under Front, choose a photo of the front of the card (or take one with your phone’s camera); under Back, the back. A PDF works too — use the page arrows if the card is on another page.
  2. Check the outline: drag the four corners onto the card’s corners (the magnifier helps on phones), or press Find the card again. Turn a side with the rotate buttons if it is upside down or sideways.
  3. Optional: tick Cover part of this side and drag the black box over what should be hidden, and adjust brightness or contrast.
  4. Under Sheet, choose the paper, the arrangement, how many copies and the cut lines, and add a note if you want one.
  5. With a pass, or after unlocking this result, download the PDF (or JPG) and print it at 100% or Actual size, not “Fit to page”, so the cards print at their real size.

Common uses

  • Attaching ID proof to applications for bank accounts, SIM cards, rental agreements, admissions and jobs.
  • Sending a single-page copy of both sides of a card by e-mail or upload instead of two photos.
  • Printing several copies to cut out, without a trip to a photocopy shop.
  • Sharing an Aadhaar copy with most of the number covered.

True size, and how to print it

ID-1 cards measure 85.60 × 53.98 mm with corners rounded to a radius of about 3 mm (ISO/IEC 7810). The PDF is built at that size, so a printout at 100% is the same size as the card — useful when a form asks for a “true copy”. Printers set to Fit to page or Shrink to fit scale the page; choose Actual size or 100% in the print dialog. The JPG is made at 300 dpi and marked as 300 dpi in the file, so photo apps that print at actual size keep the true size too.

Covering the Aadhaar number

UIDAI’s My Aadhaar page offers a Masked Aadhaar download, in which only the last 4 digits of the Aadhaar number are visible. To make a copy of your card like that, tick Cover part of this side and drag the black box over the first eight digits on each side that shows the number. The box is painted into the image before the PDF is made, so the covered digits are not in the file at all — not even under a removable layer.

The box is placed by hand: check the preview before you download, and turn the card before or after placing it — the box turns with the card. Some organisations need the full number for verification; ask what they accept.

The QR code on an Aadhaar holds the holder’s details too — name, gender, date of birth, address and photograph, as UIDAI’s QR code page lists — and covering the digits leaves it readable. If the copy needs only one side, add just that side.

Getting a good photo

  • Put the card on a dark, plain surface that contrasts with it — automatic edge finding works best that way.
  • Hold the phone straight above the card, fill most of the frame, and avoid glare from lamps or windows (tilt the card slightly if the laminate shines).
  • Photograph each side separately. Angled photos are fine: the four corners are used to straighten the card.

Limitations

  • The card outline is found by looking for straight edges; on a busy background, with a hand covering a corner or in poor light it may miss, and you drag the corners by hand.
  • Very small or blurry photos print blurry: the card should be at least about 1,000 pixels wide in the photo for a sharp 300 dpi copy.
  • A password-protected PDF (such as an e-Aadhaar) asks for its password; it is used only to open the file on your device.
  • The note is printed as an image, so it can’t be selected as text in the PDF.

Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, ID Card Front & Back on One Page shows the finished sheet with both sides of your card, straightened and at true size, as a page image marked “MySmartCoPilot preview · not for use”. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

Are my card photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The photos are read, straightened and put on the page by your browser on your device. Nothing is sent to MySmartCoPilot or anyone else, and nothing is stored after you leave the page.

Why is my printout smaller than the card?

The printer scaled the page. In the print dialog choose Actual size or 100% instead of Fit to page, and print the PDF rather than the preview image.

Can I hide part of my Aadhaar number?

Yes. Tick Cover part of this side and move the black box over the first eight digits; repeat on the other side if it shows the number. The digits under the box are removed from the image, not just hidden.

My card is vertical. Does that work?

Yes. The card’s proportions are measured from the photo, and you can turn each side with the rotate buttons; the page is laid out for portrait and landscape cards alike.

Can I put only one side on the page?

Yes — add just the front (or just the back). Use Copies on the sheet to repeat it.
