Conditional adult estimate, not a measurement

Water, glycogen, illness, menstruation, medicines and incomplete intake logs can dominate short-term weight change. A fixed energy-per-kg assumption is not Hall’s dynamic model or a clinically calibrated confidence interval. Children, pregnancy, eating disorders or medical treatment need professional assessment. No calorie target is a prescription.

The sensitivity band adds 1.96 times fitted-slope standard error times the entered kcal/kg, 15% of absolute fitted weight-change energy, and 25% of mean recorded intake times the missing-calorie-day fraction. The 15% and 25% are illustrative modelling choices, not validated values from the cited Hall papers; the 1.96 factor does not establish a clinical confidence interval.

Your food and weight log

Saving a date you already logged keeps its calories, weight and note wherever the field here is blank. To clear one of them, remove that day and enter it again.

Save on this device and back up

Add your entries, then save. You can always download your entries and backups, with or without a pass. Nothing stays on this device until you press Save; download an encrypted backup too, because a browser can clear or refuse its storage. Nobody can recover a forgotten passphrase.

A file of your inputs is not encrypted: anyone who gets it can read your health and travel details. Nothing is uploaded.

How we check our tools

About the Adaptive TDEE Estimate From Your Log

Import or paste complete diary/app CSV and actual weigh-ins, or retain daily entries manually. Choose roughly two to eight weeks, fit a weight trend, state the assumed energy per kilogram and back-calculate conditional expenditure. Compare an actual formula reference and chosen-rate mathematical target with explicit water-weight, missing-day and model limits. Every original record and complete CSV text is retained.

How to use it

  1. Map actual ISO-date, daily kcal and weight columns and choose kg or lb.
  2. Review every original record; missing values remain missing.
  3. Choose the window and explicit energy assumption and any actual formula reference.
  4. Read model limits before exporting estimates; retain complete input backups.

Sources and applicability

Conditional expenditure = mean recorded daily intake − assumed kcal/kg × fitted trend kg/day. Hall’s energy-per-weight paper explains composition dependence. Hall’s dynamic model includes adaptations this regression does not reproduce. The declared band is modelling sensitivity, not a clinically calibrated confidence interval.

Limitations

  • General adult information/estimates, not medical advice, diagnosis, individual treatment or clinical validation.
  • Complete original inputs and backups remain available; generated reports have separate result-key previews.
  • Device storage, refused features, unsupported fonts and forgotten private phrases can prevent retention or exports; keep external encrypted backups.

Privacy

On this device: nothing is sent

All records stay on this device. No cloud record, account, shared link or provider call is created. Explicit encrypted backups use your private phrase; unencrypted transfers expose private data to recipients.

Frequently asked questions

What do I get without a pass?

Without a pass, Adaptive TDEE Estimate From Your Log shows initial generated rows; complete generated reports require a pass; original inputs and public safety warnings remain available. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.

Is this measured expenditure?

No. It is conditional on recorded intake, trend and explicit assumptions, not a metabolic measurement or validated clinical model.

Are missing days zero-filled?

No. Missing values remain null and are counted and explained; complete intake logs are preferable.

Does a chosen-rate target prescribe a diet?

No. It is a mathematical consequence of your selected assumptions. Medical conditions, pregnancy, childhood and eating disorders need professional assessment.
