How it helps
Every holiday of the year, from the official list
The 17 holidays and 32 restricted holidays come from the Department of Personnel and Training's list for central government offices in Delhi and New Delhi, with each day's weekday and its date in India's national Saka calendar. Offices elsewhere keep 14 of these and three more chosen in their state, and the guide gives that rule in full, so you can read your own office's list correctly. Holidays that depend on the sighting of the Moon are marked as expected.
Festivals of eight faiths, dated by India's own ephemeris
Another 49 festivals and days come from the Indian Astronomical Ephemeris, prepared by the India Meteorological Department for India's central station: Hindu festivals with those of particular regions, and Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jain, Parsi and Jewish festivals; with Buddha Purnima on the official list, the calendar covers eight faiths. Every day has its Hindi name and the rule that sets its date, such as the lunar day and the part of the day a Hindu festival needs, so you can see why it falls where it does.
Long weekends, worked out for you
The calendar finds the 4 long weekends that need no leave in a Monday-to-Friday week and 23 ways to turn a few days of leave into a long break, such as nine days off around Holi and Good Friday for three days taken. Where a day to take is a restricted holiday, it says so, so central government staff can use one of their two instead of leave. A six-day week has its own list.
The Moon of every evening
Each month opens with a garland of moons: the Moon as it will look on each evening of the month, so the full and new moons that set most festivals are there to see, with their times in IST. The guide adds the partial solar eclipse of 2 August, with its times for twelve places across India and how to watch it safely.
On the wall, on your phone, in your calendar
Print the wall calendar on A4 or US Letter, put a month or the whole year on your phone's lock screen in light or dark, add the calendar files to Google Calendar, Calendar on a Mac or Outlook, and plan your own year in the workbook: choose your weekly days off and your restricted holidays, add your employer's or state's holidays and your leave, and it lists your long weekends.
Checked twice
Every row of the official list was read against the government's scanned pages, and every weekday and Saka date computed again. 34 festival dates that follow a lunar day were computed again by MySmartCoPilot's own panchang engine, and all 34 match; Christian, Jewish and Parsi dates were worked out again from their calendars' rules; the Moon's times match an independent astronomy library within two minutes. LibreOffice Calc recalculated the planner in every test case, and the PDFs pass the PDF/UA accessibility check.

Questions
Are these dates final?
They are the official dates for the year. Holidays that depend on the sighting of the Moon can move, and the government announces such changes at short notice; a corrected file is a free fix of this edition. States and employers publish their own lists, so check the one that applies to you.
Does it include my state's holidays?
It has the central government's list and the rule its offices outside Delhi follow. Type your state's or employer's holidays into the planner and it works out your own long weekends.
Does it list bank holidays?
No. Banks follow their own lists, set under the Department of Financial Services' instructions.
Is it in Hindi?
The calendar is in English, with the Hindi name of every holiday and festival and of every month.
Why do some festival dates differ from another calendar?
Festival dates here are the national ephemeris's, computed for India's central station. A festival can fall a day apart in a city far to the east or west, and some communities keep their own days; the guide explains each rule.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes: the wallpapers are made for phones, the calendar files go into your phone's calendar and the PDFs open in any reader. The workbook is made for a computer screen.
Can I print copies?
Yes, for your own household or your own class. The licence doesn't allow sharing or reselling the files.
