About Comet Courier: One More Run

Comet Courier: One More Run is a one-minute run in a robot repair arena, seen from above. You play Sparky, a little welder-bot with a single button and a spinning aim. The aim turns by itself; when it points at what you want, press Dash and Sparky shoots off along it, bounces off the padded walls and glides to a stop. After every dash the aim spins the other way, so the rhythm of your shots changes with each one.

The easy points are the broken robots wandering about the floor: a dash through one welds it back together and keeps your combo alive for a second and a half. The small fast ones are worth more than the plain ones, and a golden robot is worth the most. The dangerous points are the test rings. Dash through the heart of a ring for 150 points and three more links of the combo, but two spark nodes circle it, and the floor is full of charged puddles and sweeping laser arms that are drawn as outlines a moment before they go live. A node, a puddle or a laser costs one of three fuses and your combo.

You have a minute on the clock, and every work order you clear, with every broken robot welded, adds three seconds and brings in the next, with more robots and fewer places to stand. Eight welds in a row start Overclock: no reload, a slower aim and a Sparky that welds whatever it touches. Every run adds a rule of its own, today’s floor is the same for everyone, and your best run shows as a ghost.

How to play

  1. The aim spins by itself. Press Space, Enter, Ⓐ, the Dash button, or click or tap the floor, and Sparky dashes along it. The aim then spins the other way.
  2. Dash through a broken robot to weld it. A slow bump does nothing. Welds keep the combo alive for a second and a half.
  3. Dash through the heart of a test ring for 150 points and three combo links, but watch the two spark nodes that circle it.
  4. Puddles and laser arms flash an outline before they go live. A node, a puddle or a laser costs one of three fuses and your combo.
  5. You have 60 seconds, plus three for each cleared work order. Eight welds in a row start Overclock: no reload and a slower aim.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a run?

The clock starts at 60 seconds (75 with the Big shift rule). Each cleared work order adds three seconds, and three lost fuses end the run sooner. A new run starts at once from the results.

Why did my dash not weld the robot?

Only a fast Sparky welds. If the dash has slowed down to a glide when it touches a robot, it is only a bump. Dash at the robot from a little distance, and lead the shot, because they wander.

How do the test rings work?

A ring warms up for under a second, then glows. A dash that passes through its heart, the small circle in the middle, pays 150 points and three combo links. The two spark nodes that orbit it cost a fuse if they touch Sparky, so enter between them.

What does Overclock do?

After eight welds in a row Sparky can dash again at once, the aim spins at roughly half speed, and anything Sparky touches is welded, fast or slow. It lasts five seconds, and you must build the combo again to earn another.

Can I make it easier?

Yes. In Settings, Pace: Relaxed runs at three-quarter speed, Assist makes the weld reach and the rings bigger and the hazards a little smaller, and the arrow keys nudge the aim for a steadier shot.
