About the Localization File Converter
Move application strings between nested JSON, ARB, Rails YAML, XLIFF, gettext, Android, Apple, RESX, Java properties and translation spreadsheets. Your files stay on this device. Native-format edits preserve the original structure, while conversions list fields that the destination cannot express and keep them in a complete preservation archive.
Choose a source and target language deliberately. The tool preserves original plural categories, device variations, comments and context instead of silently treating them as ordinary text. A Pro pass opens every converted string, complete spreadsheets and preservation packages.
How to use it
- Open a resource file or choose its format and paste Unicode text. For a file with a legacy encoding, select that encoding before opening.
- Choose conversion, translated-spreadsheet merge, adding a language, missing-key review or pseudolocalization. Select the destination format and language.
- Read all format-difference warnings. Keep the original file and the complete preservation package whenever the destination has fewer metadata fields.
- Download or copy the complete output with a Pro pass. Spreadsheet identity columns bind translated rows to the original source and context.
Common uses
- Delivering application strings without losing their original identifiers and metadata.
- Reviewing complete local translation jobs while keeping client files on the device.
Format contracts and data rights
Format contracts: OASIS XLIFF, GNU gettext, Unicode plural rules, TMX specification and SRX specification. Bundled plural data and the optional dictionary include their full notices. User files retain their own rights.
Limitations
- Unknown attributes and opaque values remain in the original and preservation JSON; a destination with no equivalent field is explicitly reported.
- Gettext plural indexes and named CLDR categories are different. The tool refuses to guess a mapping or an unsupported new native variant.
- Excel format limits can prevent a field from fitting a cell; use the complete CSV and preservation JSON instead of truncating it.
- A resource parser is not a replacement for the application’s own format validator. Test the delivered file in its actual consumer.
