Your data is only in this browser. A backup file keeps it safe and moves it to another device. With a passphrase it is encrypted (AES-256), and without the passphrase nobody — MySmartCoPilot included — can open it.

About the Expense Tracker & Budget (Offline and Private, No Bank Login)
A private expense tracker that needs no bank login, and you don’t need an account: everything you enter is saved in this browser (IndexedDB) and never sent to a server. Add expenses, income and transfers between your accounts, set a monthly budget for any category, keep your bills and subscriptions with reminders for your calendar, and see where the money goes month by month.
To save typing, paste the alerts your bank or card sends — one or a whole day’s worth — and the tracker reads the amount, payee, date and account from each, skipping OTPs and offers. Or open a CSV or Excel statement from your bank. Payees you have categorised before are remembered. Amounts follow your country’s way of writing numbers and its currency, which you can change. Keep a backup file — encrypted with a passphrase if you like — to move everything to another device.
Without a pass, the free preview keeps every tab working on your entries, the backup included, and shows this month’s totals with the first rows of each report list; a Pro pass unlocks the whole report with its 12-month chart, Copy the report, the CSV and Excel files and the calendar reminders.
How to use it
- Under Add, choose expense, income or transfer, type the amount and pick the category and account, then press Add. Or paste bank or card alerts, or choose a CSV or Excel statement, check what was read and add it.
- Move between months with the arrows at the top; Transactions lists the month by day, with search, filters, edit and delete.
- Under Budgets, type a monthly amount next to a category; the bar shows what is spent and what is left, and turns red when you go over.
- Under Bills, add rent, phone, streaming, insurance or EMIs with how often they repeat. Record due bills as transactions in one click, or download the reminders for your calendar app — with a pass, or after unlocking them.
- Under Data, set your currency, accounts and categories, and download a backup — encrypted with a passphrase if you like — to restore here on any device. The CSV and Excel downloads come with a pass, or after unlocking them.

Where your data is kept
Only in this browser, in an IndexedDB database the page creates when you save your first entry. MySmartCoPilot has no copy and no account of yours: nothing is uploaded, synced or sold. That also means clearing this site’s data in the browser, or using another browser, starts empty — so download a backup now and then. Another tab with the tracker open updates when you change something here. In a private window that does not let pages save, the tracker works for the visit and says so.
Reading bank alerts and statements
An alert counts when it says money was debited, spent, paid, sent or withdrawn (an expense) or credited, received or refunded (income) and has an amount with a currency (₹, Rs, INR, $, £, €, AED and other codes). The first amount that is not a balance or a card limit is taken; the payee comes from “to”, “at”, “VPA” or “from”, the date from the message (or today), and the last digits of the account or card are shown. OTPs, offers and balance messages are skipped. A CSV or Excel statement needs a date column and debit and credit columns, or one amount column (negative or marked Dr/Cr for spending); its dates are read the way the statement writes them (a day above 12 tells 31/10 from 10/31), otherwise the way your country does. Rows that look like ones you already added — same date, amount, type and account — are shown unticked, so an import done twice adds nothing twice, and so are alerts in another currency than the tracker’s (amounts are never converted). Everything is checked by you before it is added.
Budgets, reports and bills
- Budgets are monthly, per spending category; transfers between your accounts never count as spending.
- Reports show the month’s income, spending, what is left and the share of income you kept, spending by category, the last twelve months side by side, and every account’s balance from its opening balance.
- Bills repeat every week, month, quarter or year (or every few of them). A bill due on the 31st falls on the last day of shorter months and is back on the 31st after them. The calendar file (.ics, the iCalendar format of RFC 5545) adds each bill as a repeating all-day event on the same days, with a reminder the days before you chose; it works with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook.
Backups and encryption
A backup is one JSON file with your accounts, categories, transactions, budgets and bills. With a passphrase it is encrypted in your browser with AES-GCM (256-bit), using a key made from the passphrase with PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA-256 and 600,000 iterations — the work factor the OWASP Password Storage Cheat Sheet recommends. Without the passphrase the file cannot be opened, and it cannot be recovered if you forget it.
Limitations
- No bank connection: transactions come from what you type, paste or import. That is the point — your bank login never leaves your bank.
- Bank alerts differ by bank and country; an alert in an unusual format may be skipped or need its payee typed. Check each one before adding.
- PDF statements are not read here: turn them into a spreadsheet with the bank statement to Excel converter first.
- One currency per tracker: changing it relabels amounts without converting them.
- Up to 50,000 transactions, 50 accounts and 200 bills in one browser.
- Reminders come from the calendar file you import into your calendar app; the page itself cannot notify you when it is closed.
Privacy
On this device: nothing is sent
Everything stays in this browser: the alerts you paste and the statements you open are read on your device and not kept, and the transactions you add from them or type are saved only in this browser’s storage. Nothing is uploaded. Delete it all from the Data tab at any time.
Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Expense Tracker & Budget (Offline and Private, No Bank Login) shows every tab working on your entries, with this month’s totals and the first rows of each report list (up to 10); the 12-month chart and every export stay locked. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment that never renews, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Do I need to connect my bank account?
No. There is no bank login, and you don’t need an account. Add transactions by hand, paste your bank’s SMS or app alerts, or open a CSV or Excel statement you downloaded — the tracker reads them in your browser.
Where is my data stored? Can MySmartCoPilot see it?
In this browser’s own storage (IndexedDB) on your device. Nothing is sent to MySmartCoPilot or anyone else, so we cannot see it, lose it or sell it. Download a backup to keep a copy.
How do I move my expenses to another phone or computer?
Under Data, download a backup (add a passphrase to encrypt it), copy the file to the other device, open the tracker there and choose Restore from a backup.
Which bank SMS formats does it understand?
Alerts that say debited, spent, paid, sent or withdrawn (or credited, received, refunded) with an amount and a currency — the usual wording of banks and card issuers in India, the UK, the US, the Gulf and elsewhere. It skips OTPs, offers and balance messages, and you check each transaction before it is added.
Can it remind me of bills and subscriptions?
Yes, through your calendar: under Bills, download the reminders (.ics) — with a pass, or after unlocking them — and import them into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Each bill repeats on its schedule with a reminder the days before you chose. You can also record all due bills as transactions in one click.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
The tracker’s database is deleted with it. Restore your latest backup file to get everything back.
