Reported comparison
CSV text fields that could be interpreted as formulas receive a leading apostrophe. Text already starting with one receives one extra; remove one leading apostrophe from an encoded text field to recover it. Numeric cells, XLSX text cells, complete-result JSON and original responses retain their values.

About the Country Statistics Comparison
Compare annual observations from World Development Indicators, the World Bank’s source 2 dataset. Load its complete indicator catalogue, select countries, regions or other published groups, and choose an annual range. Line charts keep missing years as gaps; bar charts and ranking tables identify the actual source year of each value. Review indicator definitions and source organizations before interpreting a comparison: current-dollar GDP, purchasing-power measures, percentages and already per-capita series answer different questions.
How to use it
- Load the public catalogues. Search the returned country/group and WDI indicator lists, and add every entry you need. Catalogue pagination and request batching do not restrict your selected result.
- Choose the annual range and chart year. Chosen-year ranking compares one year; latest-available ranking uses each entity’s last reported year within the range and labels it explicitly.
- Choose exact endpoint years or first/last available observations for CAGR. Review missing or nonpositive endpoint explanations rather than treating them as zero growth.
- Optionally select a benchmark for a same-indicator ratio, or divide a suitable total by same-year population. Ratios never combine two entities’ different source years.
- Generate the preview. Unlock this result to browse every selected indicator and complete table, or export CSV, XLSX, PNG, SVG and a complete structured text copy with source metadata.
Examples
Synthetic arithmetic example: first value 100, last value 121, elapsed years 2.
CAGR = (121 / 100)^(1 / 2) − 1 = 0.10, or 10%. These are example numbers, not country observations.
Synthetic arithmetic example: numerator 110 and denominator 20 in the same year.
The ratio is 5.5 times. A newer numerator is not substituted when the benchmark has no observation in that newer year.
Read the measurement before the ranking
A high numeric value is not automatically a better outcome. An indicator may measure a total, percentage, rate, index or monetary value. Aggregates are published statistical groups; selecting a region alongside its member countries can compare overlapping populations. No country values are generated when the source is unavailable.
Growth and matched-year quotients
CAGR is (last / first)^(1 / elapsed years) − 1, requiring a positive first value, a nonnegative last value and different source years. A zero ending value gives −100%; missing or negative endpoints remain undefined. Per-capita division uses positive population for the same entity and year. A benchmark ratio uses the latest year in the selected range where both entities report the same indicator.
Attribution and reuse
The World Bank dataset default is CC BY 4.0 with additional terms. Differently labelled datasets or indicator metadata and some third-party sources have other conditions. Indicator definitions, source notes, source organizations, footnotes and complete returned metadata stay with the result and its exports. Review dataset terms and summary terms for your intended reuse.
Limitations
- Observations can be missing, revised or reported at different times. Latest-available rankings show actual years and can compare different periods. They are not a claim that all values are current.
- CAGR is a compound endpoint calculation, not the average of intermediate annual growth rates. It does not adjust current-dollar values for inflation.
- Dividing percentages, indexes or already per-capita indicators by population is usually not a meaningful standard statistic. Use the optional population quotient only when the numerator’s definition supports it.
- Requests use the public keyless API and can fail because of connectivity, rate limits or browser access policy. A failed or incomplete request produces an error instead of invented or silently partial data.
- Complete large datasets or images can exceed the memory or canvas resources of a device. All fetched rows remain in memory; choose a smaller image width or SVG/data exports when a full PNG cannot be allocated.
- Numeric observations and calculations use JavaScript binary64 floating-point numbers; JSON numbers can round when parsed. Presentation rounding leaves stored values unchanged. Complete original response text is retained for exact source-text reconstruction. Complete original response text accompanies CSV/XLSX; long XLSX cells use labelled text fragments.
- CSV text fields that could be interpreted as formulas receive a leading apostrophe; an original leading apostrophe receives one extra. Remove one leading apostrophe from an encoded text field to recover it. Numeric cells, XLSX text cells and complete original responses retain their values.

Sends data to online services
The World Bank receives the selected public codes and years when you load catalogues or run a comparison. No personal file is uploaded. Calculations and generated exports stay on this device; source requests do not send account credentials.
Frequently asked questions
What do I get without a pass?
Without a pass, Country Statistics Comparison shows one small watermarked indicator chart, its headline and the first three ranking rows; complete tables and CSV/XLSX/PNG/SVG unlock for this result. Until you unlock it, the result can’t be downloaded or copied. A Pro, Premium or Ultimate pass, a one-time payment unless you choose automatic renewal, unlocks the full result. The pricing page lists the passes and their prices.
Are the values sample country statistics?
No. Results use actual observations returned by the requested World Bank source 2 pages. The examples explain arithmetic with explicitly synthetic numbers; they are never substituted for country data.
Why do ranking rows show different years?
Latest-available ranking selects each entity’s latest reported value inside your range. The actual year appears on every row. Select chosen-year ranking for a single common year; missing values remain missing.
Can I compare a region or income group?
Yes, when it is present as a queryable aggregate in the loaded country/group catalogue. The separate region, income and lending catalogues are retained as metadata; an unverified group mapping is not invented.
What is included in attribution?
The World Bank source 2 label, indicator source organizations, full definitions and source notes, observation footnotes, original responses and qualified dataset terms. PNG stores the full source metadata in a UTF-8 text chunk; SVG includes it in its metadata element.
