About Woven Deck: Suit Garden
Woven Deck: Suit Garden is a solo card game set in a travelling apothecary, a painted wagon that has stopped for the evening at a crossroads. The apothecary has let down the oak counter, hung a lantern from the awning and set out the glass alembic, and twelve herb cards lie on the counter in a glass funnel of three rows: six, then four, then two. Along the wagon's side four window planters wait for their herbs: sage, rose hips, marigold and mint.
Plant a herb by playing the lowest card of a column in the funnel, a card from one of the three little drawers, or the top card on the marble slab. Each planter takes its herb in order, from the one up to the seven. The leather satchel holds the other sixteen cards: turn one onto the slab when nothing else can be planted, and when the satchel is empty the slab can be swept back into it twice. Clearing a row of the funnel turns the worth of the four herbs one step round. The deal is won when every planter is in flower.
Every card you plant in a run brews the open remedy in the alembic: 5 points, then 10, then 15, up to 40 a card, and a planter coming into flower adds 35 more. Bottle it, always allowed, and the points are fixed in your score before a new run begins. Or keep brewing, and turn a card from the satchel while a remedy is open: if the turned card is the same herb as the card it lands on, the remedy curdles and the open points are lost. The brew gauge says how many of the cards still in the satchel would curdle it, counted from what you can see.
Between runs the apothecary's recipe book opens. Before your first run, and after every remedy bottled or curdled, two recipe cards are offered from a tiny deck of seven and you pin one or pass: honey, camphor, bloom salts, a copper still, rosewater, saffron or a slow simmer. Up to three stay pinned for the deal and stack, each one changing how the remedy is scored. Score only: nothing is staked. Every deal is checked by a solving player before you see it, and the wagon saves where you leave it, in this browser only.
How to play
- Plant a herb by tapping the lowest card of a funnel column, a drawer card or the top card on the slab, or by dragging it to its planter. Each planter takes its herb in order, from the one to the seven.
- Every card planted in a run adds to the open remedy: 5 points, then 10, then 15, up to 40 a card, and a planter in flower adds 35. Press Bottle (or B) to fix it in your score.
- Turning a card from the satchel with a remedy open is the risk: if it is the same herb as the slab card it lands on, the remedy curdles and its open points are lost. The brew gauge shows the chance.
- Between runs pin one of two recipe cards, or pass: tap a card, or press 1 or 2, and 3 to pass. Up to three recipes stack for the deal and change how the remedy is scored.
- Keep a card aside in a drawer. When the satchel is empty the slab can be swept back into it twice. Press H for a hint and U to undo.

Frequently asked questions
What is the remedy?
The points of your current run that are not in your score yet, brewing in the alembic. The first card planted in a run adds 5, the second 10, the third 15, up to 40 a card, and a planter in flower adds 35. Bottle the remedy to fix the points in your score.
When does a remedy curdle?
Only when you turn a card from the satchel with a remedy open and the card is the same herb as the slab card it lands on: a sage on a sage, a mint on a mint. Any other card leaves the remedy brewing.
How do the recipe cards work?
Before your first run, and after every remedy bottled or curdled, two recipe cards are offered from a deck of seven. Pin one or pass. Up to three stay pinned for the deal, they stack, and the same deal always offers the same cards.
What does the brew gauge count?
The cards still in the satchel that are the same herb as the top card on the slab, out of all the cards in the satchel. The satchel holds exactly the cards you cannot see, so the share is exact, though their order is never shown.
Does it save my game?
